I checked out TV Paint's new website and it looks alot different than it did the last time I've been there. I'd like to check out this program for my projects, but the pricing seems pretty steep, even for the standard version. Does TV Paint have discounts for individuals who aren't in school?
It appears that the link to the practice file TRAVEL_NOTEBOOK.tvpp goes to a different .tvpp file than the one shown in the tutorial video. The linked file doesn't have the same number of layers and has less frames than the file we see in the tutorial video. This makes it confusing to follow along with the tutorial. Please update the file at the link given above.
On paper, you can move the layer you're drawing on. In clipstudio, you can move the layer your drawing on. In every other drawing program, you can move the layer you're drawing on. Why is it only TVPaint where you can't do that?

Why is it that not a single animation software bothers to include old school colour charts? Stac, Taiyo-Shikisai, Hanna-Barbera, Cartoon Colour Company... none nowhere to be found with these.
what if i have other layers already created that i want to turn into my presets? for example i want them to stop breaking instances. is this possible? thhanks

The link to download the demo file 'RAMONA_CROW_TURN.tvpp' is broken. It returns this error when trying to load the page: "Connection timed out. Error code 522"
I love TVPaint , I really do, but frankly I would need to see a demo animating an actual scene of a character moving , not simply standing in one place in an awkward "T" pose and only minimal movements to convince me that this is a usable tool. Can you make a character walk and otherwise move around? Is there IK ? Right now I don't see that this simple rigging function offers enough motivation to upgrade from TVPaint 11. Purchasing MOHO Pro (which is capable of sophisticated rigged animation) is $400 U.S. Upgrading from TVPaint 11 to TVPaint 12 is twice that cost! You need to show more of what this new puppet tool is truly capable of doing for practical animation. Is this all there is in terms of the tutorials ? Where is the written documentation ? (Why release version 12 with no user manual ?)

That would be nice, but I do not think so. It would require that each layer (or folder) could be assigned a separate Camera layer, so you could adjust the speed of the the move on each layer (so background moves slower than midground and foreground layers). There is still the old Multiplane Camera in the FX Stack , but it has not been improved or upgraded ever since it was introduced in TVPaint 9. It is easier to just create your animation TVPaint, then use the JSON Export function to move it all over to After Effects to apply Multiplane camera effect. Or export individual layers from TVPaint as transparent PNGs or TIFFs then reassemble the scene in MOHO or After Effects or Apple Motion to apply multiplane camera effect.
@@jeanandre4023 I think that would be very useful to have each folder assigned a separate Camera Layer, so each layer could be adjusted to move at a different rate of speed for a parallax effect. I think it would be worth putting that in as a New Feature/Improvement request at the TVPaint Forum.
the price increase is a bit steep: 300+ euro's extra compared to the previous pro version (without upgrading) excl vat. Used to be 1200-ish, now 1600 euro The pricepoint gets too close to Toonboom Harmony, while not offering the same features. It's getting a too big of a discrepancy. So i am kind of steering away from considering tv paint (i was seriously looking at tv paint.. but seeing this increase, while not giving much extra features, compared to the competition, is a turn down.)

Hello! If I upgrade my TVPaint 11 licence, am I still able to continue to use TVPaint 11, alongside TVPaint 12? (To finish off projects) Or would I be permanently locked out from TVPaint 11 and only able to use 12? Thank you, I'm very excited regardless! You will indeed lose access to TVPaint Animation 11 once you have upgraded to version 12. TVPaint Animation 11 and TVPaint Animation 12 are compatible. However - and that's something that could be extended to any software - we advise you to finish your project first and then switch to TVPaint Animation 12. This is what studios usually do! Also, the latest updates of TVPaint Animation 11 are now dongleless and so is TVPaint Animation 12 🙌. More information on how to go Dongleless on our website : tvpaint.com/

Nice, but for Rigging I think Moho is Way more powerful! So this might be only interesting for those who don't have Moho or Harmony. Same goes for Moho where they have brought out frame by frame features but you don't really use those imho only if you don't have TVPaint or something similar :)) Also the price difference is a Huge win for Moho :)
Camera looks much better than in TVP11! Is it possible in TVP12 to have multiple clips of different resolutions in the same project? If I am storyboarding a film, and 1 shot has a big pan from left to right, can I just create a very wide clip with an animated camera and keep all other clips at 16:9? Or will all clips need to be huge like in TVP11?
It's not yet implemented in TVPaint Animation 12.0, but we want to do it in the future ! ☺

@@Yoflowanimation What kind of file are you trying to open in TVPaint ? Some proprietary file formats (for example: After Effects .aep file) will not open in TVPaint. That is when you will get the error message: "Found no plugin able to open this file". TVPaint can open most common image and video file formats MOV, AVI , MP4, WMV, MKV, GIF, PNG, TIFF, TGA, JPEG, PSD

Ah, sadly the price point is still inaccessible for quite a lot of artists. Compared to something like CSP especially. The only saving grace is the total lack of subscription for TV Paint. But I wonder if you'd make more options for accessibility to the program? I understand there are some discounts for students, but outside of that it still isn't available for the most part.

As a toonboom user i just want to say im happy to see that you guys are choosing a bone system that functions like blender, maya etc. I cant tell you how infuriating harmony is to me. This is me peeping over the fence and veing healous of my neighbors lawn.

Did the motion fields tools get updated as well? I was hoping to be able to import or analyze motion field data from video. The fact there's a pixel motion tool at all in this kind of software is really cool! Glad to see this powerhouse is still going though
