    I love it. The cello feels like an old friend, one that can wrap you in a warm embrace with its deep, resonant tones. It's got this incredible ability to speak directly to the soul, whether it's whispering a gentle lullaby or pouring out its heart in a powerful, raw expression.

    Hi Chris interesting instrument how high can the viola go? From Oona

  • @music_unpacked
    @music_unpacked2 ай бұрын

    @AlisonLlewelyn-Jones and Oona - good question! There's no single answer because it depends on the instrument, player and ability. Because the viola strings are basically all a 5th lower than a violin you might think the top note would be a 5 notes lower too but a viola is physically bigger and harder to get your hand and arm around. Plus, the distance between the note positions are wider, so it's got a smaller range. It also doesn't resonate as much and people prefer it lower most of the time anyway. Above the note C, 2 octaves above middle C, is considered difficult but can go a few notes higher that that. String players can also use harmonics but lightly touching the strings at certain points to play very high too.

  • @music_unpacked
