I needed this. I am in the same period, ibang situation lang, because it is my (supposed) lifetime partner who I have to let go. Totoo yung modification vs. transformation. While trying to understand why he cannot let go of his vices and bad habits kahit na alam niyang those were destroying us & our relationship, I learned that I was hoping for him to be "modified" when in fact kailangan niyang mag"transform". He needed God; and he doesn't even recognize that. He still thinks that his friends, family, & all those vices are the only things that could fix him. My future, my plans, & my everything all fell apart and even when all that brings me pain, I know that who we need is God.
