  My mother and I many years ago looked 7:16 7:18 forwa 7:28 rd every Monday night to hear the Voice of Firestone. This went on for years until it went to TV and eventually it came to an end. We very much enjoyed the opening song and the closing song written by Idabel Firestone. It was she who promoted the program on radio and television. Some suggested that after her death, the long running program came to an end. I don’t know whether this is true or false.

  I discovered this album back in 2018. Thank you for uploading it. It is so beautiful. I love both albums Anna Moffo and Rudolf Schock did.

  Moffo's voice is too heavy for Elvira, hers is a poor performance. She tried to imitate Callas singing in bel canto operas but with much less success.

  Such an AMAZING album!!! Side 1 in particular!!! I bought this album in 1978 -- and fell in love with Moffo singing Verdi I've never heard a D'amor that could rival this. The Db on "le Pennnnnne" is amazing! ....and Sooooo many singers just fudge their way around it 😊😊😊

  Both of them are perfect in this opera. So lovely to hear how their techniques are allowing such freedom of tone for musical and theatrical expression. No forcing, no manipulated sounds.

  As great as the studio recording is I like this live performance better because Moffo’s voice sounds larger and more powerful and Renato Cioni’s youthful voice is more in line with the hot headed, scatterbrained Alfredo than the mature old sounding Richard Tucker. Don’t get me wrong. Tucker has the wider range overall but Cioni is still a better fit for Alfredo. Also I enjoyed Karajan’s unusual tempos. They really add personality to the score!

  This is the complete and best version of I Puritani I have ever listened. Of course Moffo is a gem here,. Gianni Raimondi and Ugo Savarese also play not less than Moffo.

  Just an observation... The sheet music does not actually match the key Renata Tebaldi sings in. She sings in a whole note higher :)
