    I don't care WHO it is, NO ONE can exhale for SIX seconds, especially AFTER being instructed to blow out forcibly to start...there's very little to no breath left to exhale! It's a torturous test and there should be a better and EASIER test to get desired results.

    How is it even possible to continuously blow out for 6 seconds if you’re supposed to breathe out at full capacity?

  • @noahjohnson8389
    @noahjohnson8389 Жыл бұрын

    There actually is no minimum exhaled time required. This video is outdated. Though the patient/ subject will need to keep blowing out until a plateau of flow change less than .025L/s occurs (sometimes this takes less than 6 seconds though can be much longer in individuals with respiratory disease). Some people find the test uncomfortable due to the level of exertion the test demands. But you have a store of air left in your lungs called the residual volume that will prevent your lungs from incurring any negative affect from the pressure the test places on your lungs/diaphragm.

  • @dwaynemartin8256
    @dwaynemartin82567 ай бұрын

    @@noahjohnson8389 There may be no minimum time requirement, but very few adults will meet the criteria with a FET of less than 6 seconds. To answer the original question many people can easily blow out for greater than 6 seconds at maximal effort. It might be something that you want to do for fun, but it's easily achievable.

  • @sess122

    My friend self-diagnosed his sleep apnoea using a 'FitBit' watch which monitors breathing and blood oxygen via its built-in pulse oximeter. He is overweight and has a hyperglotiic tongue (large tongue) and still has his tonsils. He produced a lot of secretions in the night which contributed to his airway obstruction. He tried medication to dry out his secretions and his sleep apnoea went!! He used a double dose of cold medication at bedtime (phenylephrine 2 x 12.2mg) and it has changed his life until he continues to lose weight

    I knew I had a problem after finding out I was getting carbon monoxide poisoning from my boiler. I probably already had sleep apnea but the CO poisoning amplified it. That was almost 5 years ago. I’d wake up gasping for air and instant headache. My toes and other um,,,things were purple. The only way I could get through the stopping breathing long enough to really sleep was whiskey and on multiple occasions a cocktail of whiskey, melatonin, zquil, cbd, Valium, delta 8 gummies etc. then last year I worked in LA for 4 months and found a THC/CBN gummy and quit drinking to sleep almost immediately. Anywhoo, my Fitbit has shown several spikes in blood oxygen levels every night for a long time. Finally got the Dr to set me up for a sleep study a month ago and according to the Fitbit it wasn’t nearly as bad as some nights and they diagnosed me with severe sleep apnea. I’m working on Washington now and need to get set up with a machine but now I’m procrastinating.
