I was listening to the Wolf perform when I was just thirteen! He is awesome. I relate to him on many levels. Mainly, because his mother saw him as playing the "devils" music. I know she disapproved of him but, he loved her immensely as I love my own mother! He was ultimately gifted and of greatness! His own mother denied the fact that he sang and played like heaven!

Chester Burnett admired Jimmy Rodgers so tried to yodel like him. His yodeling came out as growls and howls that actually sounded better with his style of music so continued to do that.

Howlin' Wolf did the same thing except Wolf was with someone's wife and Wolf didn't know she was married and her husband came home unexpectedly. Wolf jumped out a second-story window and ran away! It's in the Howlin' Wolf biography "Moanin' at Midnight: The Life and Times of Howlin' Wolf."
