    Major loss for hockey no doubt. Sportsnet has no regard on supporting individuals who helped build the brand when the time comes to transition away. Have you heard anyone working for Sportsnet praise the leadership? No chance. For example, the personalities working for TNT can't stop taking about how well they are treated. Is this becoming the trend? Don cherry (justified, but handled horribly and ruined the man's legacy), Tim Micallef's show cancellation, and now Jeff Marek. My prediction is that Sportsnet will have "their hands tied" and let go Elliot, Bieksa or Ron, which will prove it's a leadership issue, not a content creator / analyst issue. Tough to see him go for sure.

    My only issue with Riley Heidt is that if the Wild gives him the 9 game tryout and then decide not to keep him, he goes back to the WHL for his 5th season and absolutely dominates again. Yes that's probably good for his confidence, but will it really help him improve playing against kids? I'd rather he signs overseas (SEL) and plays against men like Rasmus Kumpeleinan is...

    I made money betting on the draft order off Servallis information, if Marek was giving out that information with enough time for bettors to act on it , that'll get him in trouble , bettors could cash out their bets if they know a player is not getting drafted, but it's a victimless money crime I've never really cared much about , but the feds and casinos definitely do

If there was anyone who expected Faber to get over 9M a year can't be trusted as a hockey commentator. 8.5 per is exactly where I thought he would be. Not surprising at all. 2. May I suggest, if you are able to find it, Axe Kicker Double IPA from Big Axe Brewing Company for the Hoppy Hour segment? It's high percentage ABV (9.8 I believe) but very smooth and fruity tasting with lightly hoppy undertones despite being a double IPA and 100 IBUs. Based off of what you said this episode about liking small breweries, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised if you can get your hands on some.

    Laine was not unhappy in Winnipeg in general, he was unhappy with Blake Wheeler and Marc Scheifele if you believe the rumors. Wheeler and Scheifele were the stars at the time and were afraid that a young kid might outshine them. Many Jets fans want Laine back because he is an exceptional goal scorer who has not reached his peak so far. He had some rough times, his farther died unexpectedly, a lot a guy at this age has to stomach. If mentally stable, he can be a 50 goal scorer and he will improve the power play for sure. He will cost a first round pick at least, but he's worth it. The coming matchups will be interesting, if our fan favourite will wear a Wild jersey...

    as of right now, for the 2025-26 season, the Wild have 15 players signed for a total of $72,953,332. The cap is likely to go up from $88,000,000 to $92,000,000 for that season. That leaves $27,546,668 left to sign 9 players. Rossi, Khusnutdinov, Wallstedt are all RFAs following this coming season. If they have repeats of last year, or perform better, which is entirely likely, the contracts they will be able to command based on their comps around the league are..... Rossi: 8 x 7.5M per Marat: 4 years, 4.25M per Wallstedt: 2 years, 1.25M per, could be more depending on how much NHL time he gets this year. that adds up to $12,000,000 Now you're at $84,953,332 spent on 18 players. Which means, there is only $6,546,668 left to sign 5 more players. 1 of those contracts will be Yurov's entry level deal 1 of those contracts will be Haight's entry level deal 1 of those contracts will be Heidt's entry level deal 1 of those contracts will be Buium's entry level deal So now you're down to needing 1 more player and only $2,500,000 or so to sign them. That spot will need to be defenseman as there will only be 6 signed. I guess just go with what they have, Lambos or Hunt.

  • @lethalmigraine9009

    Anyone who has confidence in Guerin doesn't know shit about hockey. Legitimately nothing. Brodin's contract is lousy. Boldy's contract is terrible. He's a 3rd liner getting carried on a line he doesn't belong. Boldy is making 2 million a year too much for 4 years too much. Mats should've been shown the door. Foligno should've been shown the door. Hartman makes 1.5 million a year too much. Trenin was a pointless signing after trading for Lauko. Gaudreau got 3 years too long. Spurgeon contract is disgusting. 2.5 million a year too much. Middleton should've been shown the door. Chisholm needs to be sent to the AHL. Gustavsson should've been dealt already. 44 trades made, only 4 can even be considered good, and 1 was an accident. Otherwise, the roster is pretty great.

    I was 6 when the North Stars started and a I was a season ticket holder when they left. I remember Norm strolling through the concourse at the Met Center and everyone chanting Norm. He loved it before it became Norm Sucks. My youth hockey team was the Greenhaven rink with green & white jerseys. We practiced outside and got to play against 5 other neighborhood rink teams on Saturday mornings indoors at the Memorial Building in Hibbing. The throwback green jerseys the Wild wear give me a comfortable feeling. I just wish that they would win more when they wear them. But then again the North Stars weren’t the best regular season team but they where very good at home.

    good episode! Great points on Laine, I agree the only way the Wild would be interested is if Columbus eats 50% and the only way they do that is if they only get back expiring contracts (we only have Jojo and Merrill) and the Wild throws in a huge draft pick kicker and perhaps a good prospect like Lambos, Yes Deano would probably want Freddy, but will the GM want the 4 years of term left that comes with him?

  • @travzimmerman1340
    @travzimmerman13407 күн бұрын

    Waddell already said he was unwilling to retain 50% but he also acknowledged he would need to retain "some". $2.2M retained would be about 25% and would bring the cap hit down to $6.5M. Seems doable if CBJ are willing to take cap back. I'm not really interested in Laine unless we knew which Laine we'd be getting.

    Freddy has a 15-team no-trade list and Spurgeon has a 10-team no-trade list. I would be shocked if Columbus wasn't on either of their lists. NoJo doesn't have a modified NTC, but still has to approve the trade which he won't. Assuming Columbus isn't on their no-trade list, it would be better to get rid of Spurgeon because his cap hit would cancel out with Laine's and he's coming off hip and back surgery. I wouldn't give up Ohgren or Haight especially after Haight had a growth spurt and is now 6'2''. They don't need Heidt because they'll have Yurov, Ek, Rossi, Kumpulainen, and Khusnutdinov down the middle in a year or two.

    If I'm the wild, I'm aiming for a 10%-25% retention of Laine's contract. On the stuff going the other way, it has to be headlined by a guy like Gus going the other way, with Either Johansson or Gaudreau as a replacement for Laine. Also throw in a guy like Ryder Richie (newly drafted, so easily expendable) and a 2nd or 3rd draft pick. Might as well have smaller picks too.
