    Thank you for such a comprehensive and sensible review. I really like the idea of this camera, but no weather sealing, viewfinder or flip screen make it, possibly, too expensive? I very much value all 3 of those features. I could make do with a generic viewfinder for the hot shoe, but no waist-level shooting or damp weather shooting is pretty hard to swallow. The UK can be very humid in summer too...Anyway, thanks again for the review and some lovely photos!

    @@m.s.g1890 Yes, I can understand where you are coming from. Although you can practice and get better at “blindly” shooting from the hip, you can’t really overcome weather-sealing. Especially in places that it rains often like the UK (we have rain seasons here in South Korea too). I love to shoot in the rain so I am wishing for weather-sealing in GR4x. Thank you so much for watching! Hope you have a good day!

    I have good news for you. Two ways to solve the monitor and finder problem when the monitor is not completely closed and you want to take portrait photos. First you choose a custom button that is comfortable for you (I use the C4) and as a function you assign it to change to finder or change to monitor (it doesn't matter) second, if you want the change to be permanent you go to the monitor function and change it front Auto to manual, if you want a more intelligent variant you leave it in auto. What will happen is that even if the monitor is not perfectly closed or in some open position, when you press the assigned button the image will change to the finder allowing you to take the portrait photo without delay, then when you stop using the finder the auto function returns to have priority and the image will go to the monitor without you doing anything.

    Such a great review! Some years ago i believe 2019 i bought a Leica Dlux 4 (same as LX3) in a second hand store for 25 bucks in very good condition. It was a breakthrough in my photography in many ways. Sometimes it can take better photos than my Canon 6D and Sony A6000. It´s hard to discribe but i think you nailed it. I recently bought another Dlux 4 in brand new condition just to have a backup if my first somehow dies.

    Compressed RAW will save you a TON of space just FYI, there's no literal difference between the two. Yo ucan consider compressed raw as a half processed, half baked process BUT you still have absolute tons of room to edit ad adjust. I Have the A7R ii and it's great for both modes and I recently started using compressed raws and I'm a dark, blacks almost fully dropped moody type shooter with occasional high key and neither side shoes signs of breaking when I edit. Plus you get like triple the buffer rate. Give it a try! Hybrid shooting.. all cameras have to process files before you can switch modes so don't blame the camera. That's just threading purposes can't blame em. Imagine being in the middle of processing files and your boss pulls your files away and throws a pile of something else, you loose your place lol

  • @AlexKimPhoto
    @AlexKimPhoto27 күн бұрын

    Thank you for this information! I saw from other photography youtube that compressed raw is just as good as uncompressed raw, but it was hard for me to take a leap of faith because I’ve been shooting uncompressed for 3 years and i like to shoot in darker situations. But hearing from your user experience convinced me. Wow, faster buffer rate from compressed raw is something that never crossed my mind! This absolutely convinced me to use compressed raw. Thank you. Yes i thought that switching modes while processing was the norm for all cameras haha but now with the faster buffer rate, it would matter less. Thank you so much for the comment and watching my video! Hope you have a great start to your week!

I switched to compressed raws and i was like well shoot no difference, double to triple the buffer rate. i can burst raws all day long now LOL. Haven't switched back since UNLESS I'm doing a high paid shoot where it's more still semi moving not so much bursting but otherwise, compressed raws for me! Glad i can help man yea give it a real street photography try when you get out again... nothing but compressed. Do a buffer test too right now, it will burst to no end LOL. I used to have the Fuji XF10 as my pocket cam for a few years but never quite liked it. So I sold it. I was looking for a replacement when I found the LX3 for a bargain in the local used market and decided to give it a go. I’ve been shooting with it since. It has a surprisingly good set of features and I really like the overall handling of it. Btw you can enable the lens focal length memory from the settings so you don’t have to start from 24mm every time. It’s the third page on the wrench menu, Lens Resume. It will remember both the zoom and focus. I always use manual focus with the focus button on top, and keep the lens around 44mm full frame equivalent (around where the max aperture is 2.4 :D) for streets. With the lens resume enabled when I turn on the camera everything will be correct, I just need to press the shutter button!

  • @AlexKimPhoto
    @AlexKimPhotoАй бұрын

    The Fuji XF10 was always on my wishlist because it is pocketable and has fuji film simulation. So, I'm curious about why you didn't like it. The only reason keeping me from that camera is the 28mm equiv. focal length. Yes, for a camera that is 16 year old, it has lots of customizable menus and great color palette. Thank you so much for that info about the focal length memory! Now I have zero reasons to dislike any part of this camera!

  • @tuhisdraws
    @tuhisdrawsАй бұрын

    @@AlexKimPhoto For some reason I’ve never liked the look of Fuji’s film simulations. They don’t look like film but they’re also not that fresh :D I don’t think I have any photos taken with the XF10 that I’d return to look at or remember. They’re basic good photos, clean, sharp, lots of megapixels, but there’s nothing else. Maybe it’s the 28mm lens that I just can’t use right. The camera is also slow, both in focusing and in general operation. The LX3 feels so much more snappier to me. I’m not saying XF10 is a bad camera by any means, it’s just that it wasn’t what I wanted from a pocketable camera. For others it might be the right choice! I’ve sold my X100 and Xpro1 as well, so maybe Fujifilm just isn’t the tool for my photography in general :D

I know the huge hype behind the fuji cameras, and that makes me want one haha But I did have an x100t in the past and I sold it too. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn’t for me for some reason. I think we prefer similar focal lengths that are not too wide. I heard about the very slow focusing on the XF10, another reason I was hesitant on getting that camera. Now that I’m perfectly happy with the LX3, I am not in search for another camera anymore. Brother! Another great and helpful video! My favorite vintage lens I own has to be canon 50 1.4 LTM „Japanese Summulix“. I loved the sharpness and it’s buttery rendering so much, that I sold my summilux. -Another great tip is ltm to m Mount adapter for old ltm glass. There are sooo many great ltm lenses from canon, Nikon, Leica, voigtlander.. etc - and I agree the peak design cuff is my favorite accessory, the cuff stays on the wrist when you eat, or take a break at 7-eleven, and keeps the setup subtile and clean and discreet while shooting on the street. -Thank you for showing some really wild examples of the 44-2. I have thought about getting one for many years, but finding the right one from the best factory is hard to find 🫣 And I will definitely be buying the loopdeck! My wrists are destroyed from the mouse after many years! Thanks for a great video again, brother! 🙏🏽☺️

Helios is really awesome! I can’t recommend it enough. I think just avoiding the worst factory is good enough because mine is from the “second best” factory, but the build quality is really good. Yes! Definitely get the loupedeck! It is a game changer. Now I can’t edit without it. It will be good for your wrists too! Thanks again for watching! I really appreciate the support brother! 🙌😎

    @@AlexKimPhoto Ah got ya! Some of the pictures had this typical lighting from Black Mist filters. Funny ;) I recently started using them as well but filters from Urth on my Fujifilm X-Pro 3 with 50mm. Love it!!
