The skins tones already look better than they did in the trailer. They all looked yellow which I found off-putting but I think this has the potential to become a hit if it improves where Stardew Valley which it already looks like they are with all the wildlife they have freely roaming around. I'm definitely looking forward to it given I'm a fan of Western games👍

Same here! I am still playing the beta right now... it for sure has potential to be a hit if they add some some more unique features. One thing I noticed is that you can till the land in town and grow stuff there. It feels a lot more freeing. I recommend joining the discord and trying to get in on the beta (it's closed right now but will be open again) and voice your opinion.

Mining looks like a solid 10/10. And I love that you can just casually deforest the village... Idk if it is possible but the game would be a 10/10 for me if the villagers get angry at you for "stealing" resources from their property.

to play the old game with more comfortable controls the system pack helps, with it you can change the controls to the Gothic 2 controls. So you can only pick up items with a left click like in all other games and all other interactions that require Ctrl are done with the left mouse button and the direction key or whatd. Dropping items from the inventory is possible with the jump key.

ouch... Honestly, I usually put a bit of Japanese content in my videos and it works on some but maybe not others. I want to put my face in videos but my wife and I just had a baby last month and it's hard to get the editing in atm. You can see how I use it in some other videos or shorts like this: kzread.infobmk9f-5xAWA Also it's not easy to edit the character unlike the Vtuber character thing and I was hoping it would make my channel stand out. @@Himaniku I respect that, but the channel you linked uses really high quality renders of their character, and it's custom blue woman with her own persona. (I'm certain there's more important elements - I watched 30 seconds.) What you're using is a generic (sorry) white dude cartoon. I can see the jpeg + AI artefacts on every frame it's in. It's a little jarring and for me personally it makes me wonder "is this AI generated content?" To stand out you should come up with a persona with one or more distinguishing features that are instantly recognizable + move to vector art or at least higher resolution denoised renders. It's fine to use AI to generate everything but run it through a denoiser and upscaler too. Crop out the expressions of what the AI generates and set up whatever image editing software you like with mouth layers + eye expression layers + pose layers, for example... so you can create loads of variety in your avatar with a couple clicks to mix and match instead of the jarring 2 or 3 frames you used for an entire video. You don't need to pay anyone or have a lot of artistic talent, just an afternoon with some software. Clearly you already put the effort in to use a video editor, so you're perfectly capable. You are right man :/ I am working on it. I wanted to update the characters but I am in the air about just recording it with my face as I am not embarrassed of how I look or anything. I am also in the air of just scrapping the characters in general. Thanks a ton though, I'm pretty sure a few people have the same thought. It's just that I speak Japanese and wanted to bring a bit of anime into the channel and it's not like I am getting paid yet to put that amount of polish in yet but I know it's needed. Thank you!

1:03 Demo did not have positive reaction at all: 1. Saturation/colors were terrible 2. Annoying constant monologue and narration of protagonist 3. Terrible overly complicated combat mechanic 4. Linearity, invisible walls and constant cimenatics that take away control of your character. In short it was made be someone who had no clue why Gothic was good, all they did was remake the 1st act of the story (badly) on a modern game engine.

I did not want to shit on the demo too hard. Yes it was trash and the community had a field day ripping it apart. Personally, I hated the directional combat and garbage UI that was added the most. You are right in saying, "Demo did not have positive reaction at all" but only for the game's mechanics; however, it was well received for the idea of a Gothic remake. It was stated, "According to the publisher, over 90% of the players were in favor for a production of a remake." According to the publisher. Maybe I should've elaborated on that.

@@Himaniku Idea maybe, but both with Teaser and Demo players quickly noticed that is made by people who clearly do not understand the soul of Gothic. Yes, certain mechanics in Gothic and PB games in general were Jank (eg. inventory management) and shoud be revised. But copy pasting modern game mechanics with Gothic story (which is quite average), colourful setting and new textures will just not do. Sure, they corrected the saturation in the Demo, but that is the easy part. The fact that is being made by completely new studio with zero experience in making games or remakes (and PB shut down in July) doesnt make me optymistic. Look at Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos, they worked with the engine and managed to change/update many problems of original Gothic. They made new story, new world and new progression system. And it is a fan made mod.

@@rajahava I feel you! But after the demo the company required the staff to play the original. Looking at the trailer it looks like they took the feedback by heart. It's a weird spot... you make it too meh and the game won't grow and make the company money. Make it too modern and it's going to get shit on by fans. I am at a weird spot as I like the series but prefer first person RPGs like the Elder Scrolls series but with the complexity of CRPGs like baulders gate and Ultima Series. I hope you and I both get what we want!

@@Himaniku There is a big difference in understanding the game, when you are required to play it, compared to when you loved it for years. Especially considering how jank G1 is even now with GoG patches and how much patience it requires. Likely it is all they actually grasped. Netflix Witcher writers were required to read source material too and they despised it. They wanted to make their own story using the names, characters and fame of the original. I am afraid it may be the same with Gothic.

Same here, man. Tried some of these other games advertised as “cozy” or “farm sims” and everything else just pales in comparison to Stardew Valley. Ultimately, I decided I’m not a fan of the genre-just that one game. Incidentally, from a game design perspective I think I know why SDV is more interesting and addictive than other similar games. The day night cycle and the passing of the seasons creates a tight gameplay loop in which you set goals and try to do things by a certain time, the skill tree provides the opportunity for character progression, and the mines have progression, challenge and reward baked in. It’s game theory 101, but it’s surprising how many games in the genre miss some of these elements and end up falling flat.

@@Himaniku Thinking of it a little more, it’s an interesting question, though, for you or whoever else might be reading this: have there been any games that made you want to check out a genre, but then you realized out you didn’t care for the genre, only that game? Aside from SDV, for me AC Odyssey (loved it, although everyone said the older ones were better, didn’t care for them or for any of the AC’s that followed), Cyberpunk 2077 (made me interested in researching the genre, but aside from a couple of the movies, didn’t care for any of it. Even the original books that spawned the genre I found either poorly written, dull, dark, negative, and cynical to point of being toxic), and Moonlighter (really fun roguelike that made me check out others, but they all lacked the secondary “shop” gameplay loop that kept Moonlighter interesting for me) are good examples.

Me going through my midlife crisis while watching this video since all these games are considered retro now. I didn't personally play most of them myself since my brother hogged the consoles but I did watch them! The Pocahontas game made me remember that Disney Hercules game from back in the day. Also if you haven't played the coziest retro of them all, I recommend you do: Sailor Moon Another Story :D

Rinqueen is the only one that opened up about what she experienced with Z and if true, Zach has for sure crossed a few lines but nothing I think self reflection and sincere apologies can fix. (in my opinion) Sucks about the content though. I think because of this situation many people are scared to do collabs out of fear of being canceled for a slip or something. It just sucks that people are treated like this. That if you don't respond within 2 seconds of something happening, that it means that you support bad people. Sometimes people want to know all the fact first before responding. And i don't think people should be held accountable for other peoples actions. Also wtf Seanie, does he not know what the term racist means? I feel that he said some very ignorant stuff, and has no right to police people in what is right and wrong. i watched this video for information but you felt very biased towards your opinion instead of reporting the facts. Personally i agree with another commenter. You weren’t involved and have no idea how badly people were hurt. This would be a better video if like many other commentary channels, you left your opinion and biases until the end of the video instead of trying to sway your audience throughout, as it just gave me a negative opinion of you. Of course, it’s your channel, and you can do what you want. Just wanted to provide my input as a consumer.

But I was implying that this should be more neutral when you weren’t involved or there from what i understand. Also implying that i wanted a video bashing someone isn’t fair or true. I wanted facts and i felt you left out crucial information to make your opinion look more true. I don’t think it’s right for people to hate bomb him and i don’t think he should have felt the need to step down as a stardew content creator, but i do feel it was important to be held accountable for having that mod on his server even after he had heard about the allegations. Many content creators for example would suspend until they learned more information, then reinstate or “fire” the mod depending on the outcome, which i think is the safest and fairest way to approach the situation, especially when it may involve people being hurt. I didn’t know that Seanie didn’t elaborate. I apologise for not knowing that! That’s really annoying when people just throw allegations then don’t go further.

I started and stopped watching him quite recently, not knowing about any of this. One of his videos made me uncomfortable after he refered to Demitrius (the stardew valley character) as a "spazz" when talking about traits that are common in autistic people. As an autistic person, it made me uncomfortable, but I've never seen anyone mention it. Idk if I can find the video but if I can, I'll make a comment under this one mentioning video title snd time stamp. I also don't like Demetrius but it's a word that has been used against autistic people for very long. I might be overreacting but I felt I should mention it.

The use of the word bothered me a lot more because everyone acted like it was a fine thing to say, if he or someone else just acknowledged it as a bad choice of words, it wouldn't bother me. The video was This Is the WORST Person in Stardew Valley and the time stamp is around 1:40. I also want to repeat, this wouldn't have bothered me that much if anyone acknowledged it, it's just the fact that no one bats an eye at it that makes it so bothersome for me.

The reason "spaz" is used as an insult in the United States is because of its origins. It originates from the term spastic, which is a medical condition common in neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy or multiple sclerosis. In the UK it is seen as an offensive term for disabled people. In the US, despite it not being seen the same by non disabled people, the term is still originally about disabilities. It evolved from spastic to an insult for CP to an insult for disabled people, to an insult for autistic people and that is why it's used as an insult for nerdy or such, due to the way autistic people and disabled people in general are seen by society.

At the start you mention the video is to inform not incite, but most of the language you use is "however I think, I feel, etc," and it seems the whole purpose of this video is to incite. When sexual harassment is the issue in the community, and the mods/admins gather evidence that support the claims, the receipts do not need to be shared with the community.

What makes this my favourite game and keeps me coming back is that no two saves are the same. You never know how your gameplay is going to go when you start a new farm, it’s so refreshing and exciting :)

I've been watching your videos without really commenting but after watching this video I just really feel bad for zack. Even if I find personally that his behaviour on the situation and the comments he made about shane and his alcholism were really really poorly said, I still feel like punching him whilst he's down is a horrible move. Especially Seanie Dew's response. Which in my opinion left a really bad opinion of him in my mind.

Ya know, I was always curious about why their channel had turned off comments but was too lazy to do so. I just find it funny (more so ironic) that the issues just got gradually worse. It shows I have about 1300 (so low) but on the earn page it's at 900. I don't get it... Not too worried about it though, just happy people are watching. I got into a influencer beta for Cattle Country though! Pretty hyped!

I reached out for comment about Seaniedew's racist comment on his discord and I was banned for discussing, "Remotely controversial or heated topics" so there's that. Edit: I am getting a little bit of hate about reporting about this situation (video being shared on discord with friends of people discussed in the video) I am sorry, but this information is all publically available but in my opinion the information we have is HEAVILY biased against Zach which I think is unfair. You also can't see comments on Zach's channel because of all the people harassing him for MONTHS. This video is for people that don't join discords or care enough to go through wayback machine and old posts but want everything they need to know to judge for themselves. Edit 2: I misgendered Kristen in the video, they go by they/them I have reached out and apologized. Also it's ok if you have a different opinion than me great! That's what makes us unique! But I will NOT tolerate any racist/homophobic/sexist comments or name calling in the comments. I've had to delete almost 10 comments saying you can't be racist against white people. It's lacking a few features to keep it fun for a while but yes I think it has potential to do better than Stardew Valley for mining. If they added automation where you build mine tracks that carry out ore or something like that I my gah...
The skins tones already look better than they did in the trailer. They all looked yellow which I found off-putting but I think this has the potential to become a hit if it improves where Stardew Valley which it already looks like they are with all the wildlife they have freely roaming around. I'm definitely looking forward to it given I'm a fan of Western games👍
Same here! I am still playing the beta right now... it for sure has potential to be a hit if they add some some more unique features. One thing I noticed is that you can till the land in town and grow stuff there. It feels a lot more freeing. I recommend joining the discord and trying to get in on the beta (it's closed right now but will be open again) and voice your opinion.
Mining looks like a solid 10/10. And I love that you can just casually deforest the village... Idk if it is possible but the game would be a 10/10 for me if the villagers get angry at you for "stealing" resources from their property.

to play the old game with more comfortable controls the system pack helps, with it you can change the controls to the Gothic 2 controls. So you can only pick up items with a left click like in all other games and all other interactions that require Ctrl are done with the left mouse button and the direction key or whatd. Dropping items from the inventory is possible with the jump key.

ouch... Honestly, I usually put a bit of Japanese content in my videos and it works on some but maybe not others. I want to put my face in videos but my wife and I just had a baby last month and it's hard to get the editing in atm. @@Himaniku I respect that, but the channel you linked uses really high quality renders of their character, and it's custom blue woman with her own persona. (I'm certain there's more important elements - I watched 30 seconds.) What you're using is a generic (sorry) white dude cartoon. I can see the jpeg + AI artefacts on every frame it's in. It's a little jarring and for me personally it makes me wonder "is this AI generated content?" To stand out you should come up with a persona with one or more distinguishing features that are instantly recognizable + move to vector art or at least higher resolution denoised renders. It's fine to use AI to generate everything but run it through a denoiser and upscaler too. Crop out the expressions of what the AI generates and set up whatever image editing software you like with mouth layers + eye expression layers + pose layers, for example... so you can create loads of variety in your avatar with a couple clicks to mix and match instead of the jarring 2 or 3 frames you used for an entire video. You don't need to pay anyone or have a lot of artistic talent, just an afternoon with some software. Clearly you already put the effort in to use a video editor, so you're perfectly capable. Good luck.
You are right man :/ I am working on it. I wanted to update the characters but I am in the air about just recording it with my face as I am not embarrassed of how I look or anything. I am also in the air of just scrapping the characters in general. Thanks a ton though, I'm pretty sure a few people have the same thought. It's just that I speak Japanese and wanted to bring a bit of anime into the channel and it's not like I am getting paid yet to put that amount of polish in yet but I know it's needed. Thank you!
1:03 Demo did not have positive reaction at all: 1. Saturation/colors were terrible 2. Annoying constant monologue and narration of protagonist 3. Terrible overly complicated combat mechanic 4. Linearity, invisible walls and constant cimenatics that take away control of your character. In short it was made be someone who had no clue why Gothic was good, all they did was remake the 1st act of the story (badly) on a modern game engine.
I did not want to shit on the demo too hard. Yes it was trash and the community had a field day ripping it apart. Personally, I hated the directional combat and garbage UI that was added the most. You are right in saying, "Demo did not have positive reaction at all" but only for the game's mechanics; however, it was well received for the idea of a Gothic remake. It was stated, "According to the publisher, over 90% of the players were in favor for a production of a remake." According to the publisher. Maybe I should've elaborated on that.
@@Himaniku Idea maybe, but both with Teaser and Demo players quickly noticed that is made by people who clearly do not understand the soul of Gothic. Yes, certain mechanics in Gothic and PB games in general were Jank (eg. inventory management) and shoud be revised. But copy pasting modern game mechanics with Gothic story (which is quite average), colourful setting and new textures will just not do. Sure, they corrected the saturation in the Demo, but that is the easy part. The fact that is being made by completely new studio with zero experience in making games or remakes (and PB shut down in July) doesnt make me optymistic. Look at Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos, they worked with the engine and managed to change/update many problems of original Gothic. They made new story, new world and new progression system. And it is a fan made mod.
@@rajahava I feel you! But after the demo the company required the staff to play the original. Looking at the trailer it looks like they took the feedback by heart. It's a weird spot... you make it too meh and the game won't grow and make the company money. Make it too modern and it's going to get shit on by fans. I am at a weird spot as I like the series but prefer first person RPGs like the Elder Scrolls series but with the complexity of CRPGs like baulders gate and Ultima Series. I hope you and I both get what we want!
@@Himaniku There is a big difference in understanding the game, when you are required to play it, compared to when you loved it for years. Especially considering how jank G1 is even now with GoG patches and how much patience it requires. Likely it is all they actually grasped. Netflix Witcher writers were required to read source material too and they despised it. They wanted to make their own story using the names, characters and fame of the original. I am afraid it may be the same with Gothic.
@rajahava Can't argue with you about that. You are right about witcher and I felt the same way with how they remade FFVII. I think the trailer looks promising though. They said they are going to hide the UI etc for more immersion. Idk... it looks good so far and want to stay positive.

Same here, man. Tried some of these other games advertised as “cozy” or “farm sims” and everything else just pales in comparison to Stardew Valley. Ultimately, I decided I’m not a fan of the genre-just that one game. Incidentally, from a game design perspective I think I know why SDV is more interesting and addictive than other similar games. The day night cycle and the passing of the seasons creates a tight gameplay loop in which you set goals and try to do things by a certain time, the skill tree provides the opportunity for character progression, and the mines have progression, challenge and reward baked in. It’s game theory 101, but it’s surprising how many games in the genre miss some of these elements and end up falling flat.
Same here! I got into SDV from the Harvest Moon just like Eric did and I only can get, "hooked" on those two games. There are some new games coming out I think you'll like though. I made a video about them if you want to follow the updates ;)
@@Himaniku Thinking of it a little more, it’s an interesting question, though, for you or whoever else might be reading this: have there been any games that made you want to check out a genre, but then you realized out you didn’t care for the genre, only that game? Aside from SDV, for me AC Odyssey (loved it, although everyone said the older ones were better, didn’t care for them or for any of the AC’s that followed), Cyberpunk 2077 (made me interested in researching the genre, but aside from a couple of the movies, didn’t care for any of it. Even the original books that spawned the genre I found either poorly written, dull, dark, negative, and cynical to point of being toxic), and Moonlighter (really fun roguelike that made me check out others, but they all lacked the secondary “shop” gameplay loop that kept Moonlighter interesting for me) are good examples.

8:21 i feel the same way. Seanies cosplay races were one of the main reasons i started to follow stardew content. I had been wondering what happened to Z and even seanie.. Now i know why.
I'm sad that he doesn't make videos about Stardew anymore, since he had such cool and creative ideas... but if most of his mods and editors and co-creators don't want to work with him anymore, I can't help but feel like they probably have a point.
Rinqueen is the only one that opened up about what she experienced with Z and if true, Zach has for sure crossed a few lines but nothing I think self reflection and sincere apologies can fix. (in my opinion) Sucks about the content though. I think because of this situation many people are scared to do collabs out of fear of being canceled for a slip or something. i watched this video for information but you felt very biased towards your opinion instead of reporting the facts. Personally i agree with another commenter. You weren’t involved and have no idea how badly people were hurt. This would be a better video if like many other commentary channels, you left your opinion and biases until the end of the video instead of trying to sway your audience throughout, as it just gave me a negative opinion of you. Of course, it’s your channel, and you can do what you want. Just wanted to provide my input as a consumer.

You didn’t go into the allegations much and instead focused on the backlash, and when mentioning SeanieDew you were very much against him, but when reading his message it mentioned that he has heard other actions that Zach had done which promoted a strong response, but you didn’t touch upon or mention that. You’re striking me as someone who doesn’t take feedback very well unfortunately. If i’m wrong, i’m sorry. But i feel it’s important as a smaller creator to listen to feedback from people like me who had your video recommended to see how you come across as a person.
@@Himaniku You may not be a reporter by profession, but talking about such a sensitive issue does mean you will be held to standards on how you talk about a situation. You don’t have to listen to my feedback, but a couple of people have commented that they’re not happy with the way you have spoken or how information was left out.

I don’t think it’s right for people to hate bomb him and i don’t think he should have felt the need to step down as a stardew content creator, but i do feel it was important to be held accountable for having that mod on his server even after he had heard about the allegations. Many content creators for example would suspend until they learned more information, then reinstate or “fire” the mod depending on the outcome, which i think is the safest and fairest way to approach the situation, especially when it may involve people being hurt. I didn’t know that Seanie didn’t elaborate. I apologise for not knowing that! That’s really annoying when people just throw allegations then don’t go further.

We don't know how serious the Bix situation was because it's too, "emotionally damaging" to the victims. Asking for proof is victim shaming but I'm sorry... ruining this guys life over this went to far without providing more information so we can treat everybody fairly.
I started and stopped watching him quite recently, not knowing about any of this. One of his videos made me uncomfortable after he refered to Demitrius (the stardew valley character) as a "spazz" when talking about traits that are common in autistic people. As an autistic person, it made me uncomfortable, but I've never seen anyone mention it. Idk if I can find the video but if I can, I'll make a comment under this one mentioning video title snd time stamp. I also don't like Demetrius but it's a word that has been used against autistic people for very long. I might be overreacting but I felt I should mention it.
The use of the word bothered me a lot more because everyone acted like it was a fine thing to say, if he or someone else just acknowledged it as a bad choice of words, it wouldn't bother me. The video was This Is the WORST Person in Stardew Valley and the time stamp is around 1:40. I also want to repeat, this wouldn't have bothered me that much if anyone acknowledged it, it's just the fact that no one bats an eye at it that makes it so bothersome for me.
Ah! Hey thanks for the comment. Honestly I saw that being brought up but MOST people do not know that word has that meaning. It usually meant, "Nerdy" or "not cool" when I grew up in the US and I have NEVER heard of being applied to people with autism. Are you perhaps from the UK? The reason "spaz" is used as an insult in the United States is because of its origins. It originates from the term spastic, which is a medical condition common in neurological conditions such as cerebral palsy or multiple sclerosis. In the UK it is seen as an offensive term for disabled people. In the US, despite it not being seen the same by non disabled people, the term is still originally about disabilities. It evolved from spastic to an insult for CP to an insult for disabled people, to an insult for autistic people and that is why it's used as an insult for nerdy or such, due to the way autistic people and disabled people in general are seen by society.

At the start you mention the video is to inform not incite, but most of the language you use is "however I think, I feel, etc," and it seems the whole purpose of this video is to incite. When sexual harassment is the issue in the community, and the mods/admins gather evidence that support the claims, the receipts do not need to be shared with the community.

What makes this my favourite game and keeps me coming back is that no two saves are the same. You never know how your gameplay is going to go when you start a new farm, it’s so refreshing and exciting :)

I've been watching your videos without really commenting but after watching this video I just really feel bad for zack. Even if I find personally that his behaviour on the situation and the comments he made about shane and his alcholism were really really poorly said, I still feel like punching him whilst he's down is a horrible move. Especially Seanie Dew's response. Which in my opinion left a really bad opinion of him in my mind.
It sounded like a polite embarrassed laugh, did he continue to use the wrong pronouns for the rest of the stream?
He messed up again later(1 time) and was corrected again by his mod but still did not read the chat. He was also streaming on twitch and youtube at the same time. Just overall bad vibes for all parties :/
Ya know, I was always curious about why their channel had turned off comments but was too lazy to do so. I just find it funny (more so ironic) that the issues just got gradually worse.
