    do these mechanics also apply to slow pitch softball? I assume they do but I see people crush it using all kinds of swings and not sure. I just want to hit a home run over the fence at least once in my life. I see so many conflicting tips. You're makes the most sense as far as power generation. Ive heard some coaches say you get nothing from your top hand, but practicing your technique, it seems i get more out of the top when i get hand up, palm down and some torque with my hips. I like your rubber band and whip metaphors. I threw shot put in HS and using the glide i always thought it was like using a whip and the crack is the moment the shot left my hand.

    Awesome advice, I've played softball for 3 years ago and I'm getting back into it and I've practiced and practiced ( obviously taking needed breaks , doing meditation, and working out) And making awesome friends and being an awesome teammate we play independent softball and casual softball just to unwind I absolutely love softball it's an amazing sport.

    I have watched 69 of the videos before this video in the playlist, and yet I never understood that maybe I wasn't keeping the tension well so that I had to shift then swing. This is opening up a little bit to what my batting is actually like. Thanks

    You gotta have great timing to have an elite swing like this.. pitchers will chew you up with rise balls if you can't attack that pitch. This is why at youth levels we teach top half of the ball short and sweet.. gotta have a good contact swing before you get to this. Imo at least. Been coaching for 12 yrs. And I don't teach this to all hitters. Only the ones who have established good timing habits

    Yes the key point for me is walking away from a player that thinks coaching is being told what to do . Coaching for me is small adjustments and repetition of those adjustments . Most players have stored knowledge of the good and bad that may have started in T-ball . This is orobably why players go into slumps as those bad habits learned creap back up into play . It can brutal cycle and once cofidence is lost the player starts grabing at steaws with the coaching staff sometimes making it worse . To me going back to basics . Simoke hand eye cordination

    “Can you swing too hard?” Yes. I think so. I am begging a kid with incredible power to just make contact. She just won’t listen. All she has to do is make contact and it’s homerun city. She has struck out in 5/6 at bats. The 6th at bat was a walk. Trying to get her to listen is difficult.

    I disagree with half of this and Antonellis personal swing is exactly what I teach my players not to do. My team is batting nearly .500 (opps .200) and is undefeated. Antonelli is selling snake oil off of a record of ONLY 11 total career hits and bated .193. I played and conditioned with players who have more than 1000 MLB hits and get advice from current top College softball players and coaches. What i see and hear from Antonelli is in contrast to what I get from other successful sources. Hes a great athlete, brings energy to the sport, and I'm sure means well but I'm not buying it.

My comment is more in general about his videos. Glad at least in this one he is not showing his own swing. He's clearly been coached by desperate for ticket sales minor league batting coaches for just walks and homeruns.

    One legged hitting!? Weightless front leg!? No weight shift back to center!? Falling over backwards!? No sense of balance!? You may not want to admit it, but this is exactly what that baffoon Teacherman advocates. Practice makes permanent, so l would be concerned about drilling this movement into a young batter. I know you’re trying to dramatically overemphasize these convoluted body angles, but once established, muscle memory is hard to change. Most people would rather avoid conflict, but l wish you would do a video comparing what you teach to what he teaches. You say that he doesn’t agree with what you have to say, but it appears that you and he are more alike than different. Care to comment?

    This is a very good DRILL to help get the barrel working from the inside. Drills are not meant to be anything more than drills. Why do people do this? Lol

  • @billgonzaleshhs8538
    @billgonzaleshhs85383 ай бұрын

    the downward ANGLE is not the path, but from the load position to the bat path. Too many kids are being taught to finish high so they DROP THEIR HANDS from the load position to the bat path and swing up not horizontal(level) or SLIGHTLY up, but DRAMATICALLY UP. These two examples show from load downward angle to bat path then level or slightly (very slightly) up

    I don’t think the movement specifically lies at the back elbow. I think it’s not understanding how to load the hips by feeling like you’re pushing the back knee up in the hip which gets your back elbow into your scap instead of pushing down into the quad and turning which will start the sequence of bat drag. Then the Top hand stuff that u say all makes sense to me . I was a minor league pitcher though, so what do I really know 😂

  • @timcasey6815

    In general l like what you teach, but in this drill it looks a lot like Richard schrenk (teacherman) advocates. I not only find his personality to be abrasive and off putting, l also don’t agree with his hitting philosophy. Are you a proponent of what he teaches? If not how do you differ?
