Hi Chris. I just wanted to say thank you for your help and support at Endure24 2024 Leeds. It was a real pleasure chatting with you and well done to Karen for her amazing effort, I hope the legs recovered well. Hope to see you again either at Endure24 again or at Equinox.

Great video again, Chris. Too bad I didn't run into you, though we were pretty close at the green camp (was near the Trump und Kim flag). Maybe next year, got my tickets already. And yeah, this years weather was almost perfekt since it wasn't too hot. Missed 2022 and 2023, but was there 8 times before Corona and it was mostly really hot back then.

Nice Vlog! Have been watching them since NovaRock 2022. This year the weather was quite nice (for Nova Rock standards), only the one Rainstorm sucked (forecast was 1-6l, we got 25l per square meter). Also i am pretty sure i saw you at Babymetal but i did not have the balls to say hello. The few announced bands for next year sound good, so i will be back in 2025

What tips and advice do you have for running and camping endure24 in Leeds. I am running this year (2024) in Leeds and I aiming for 85 miles (TOTALLY crazy!!!!). You and your wife are very experienced and any advice and tips would be most welcome. LOVE all of your videos!

  • @campingchrisuk1675

Hi, first of all thank you for the kind words. My advice would be purely camping side as the wife is the serious runner out of the 2 of us . Camping wise just bring a tent big enough for yourself and all gear also make sure to bring a couple pairs of spare running gear including trainers and plenty of snacks / drinks, don't forget a poncho or waterproof jacket just incase weather turns and Headtorch is a must from dusk till dawn. My wife doesn't ever stop every lap she just grabs a drink & jelly sweets from our table under gazebo at our tent and carries on, she never attempts to run the hills upwards and always says if you need to walk just walk don't stop. I'm only spectating this year as I've been out with injury and just starting back. Please come say hello if you spot us, it'll be a pleasure .! Good luck on the 85!

I’ve used the Vango soul 200 for the last 8 years, used it on Dartmoor, Exmoor and the SW coast path, it is a good tent for the price, totally waterproof and sturdy, only problem is the space inside, inner sags quite a bit and can’t really sit up in it and the fibreglass poles broke after a lot of use, had to get replacement poles, just long enough for me at 5 feet 8 tall

Thanks for the review, popped up randomly and, just before xmas, I had brought the same one. It wasn't quite the lightest on amazon, but like yourself, I bought it for the feet and also the high back. I've only tried it in a garden as my area has sandy soil which when wet can be like quicksand and dry, like concrete! Seems okay in the wet and I take amazon reviews with more than a pinch of salt.

Haven't laughed so much for ages lol, All tents were like this at one time just take a bit of getting used to and are quicker to set up than threading poles through sleeves once you've done it a few times, I still use my old Vango force 10 which is similar to this, great tent.

Try the meths again with a new Trangia burner. That one will be damaged now. The gelling residue blocks the evaporator material. Did this once in an emergency using priming gel and the burner was never rhe same again.

Ha …..nice. I still have mine 1982 , bought with birthday money. Tracker 2 man from Argos , cotton inner brown fly. Used to put it up by myself aged 12. It was a pain but don’t ever remember it been as awkward as this. Only used it for back garden camp outs but it I’d have a weekend run out when I was about 23. Never leaked and took a battering if memory serves me correctly. Enjoyed the vid thanks uploading.

  • @richardpartington7523

Well persevered! I had a very similar secondhand tent in the late eighties and mine was easy to put up on your own so long as you pegged the inner out firmly and completely first, because the tension in the inner then held the poles up while you threw the fly sheet over. It took me all over England, Wales and France backpacking and wild camping in all weathers. All our kit in those days was acquired for nothing or bought used, or dirt cheap from Army and Navy, because everyone was essentially skint. But looking back on the situation it was kind of liberating to have to make do with what you could get your hands on. I wouldn’t camp in a tent like that now but in fact mine never let me down, and when it eventually gave up the ghost because of UV degradation I just shrugged …

If you use a primer tray properly then it will work just fine. The gel fuel simply takes time to bloom. Those who paid attention to detail will also note that the burner worked as normal after it actually came to a bloom. The gel does not clog the burner, it simply requires higher temperatures for the alchohol to wick up towards the jets. Plus, it was quite obviously cold where the experiment was performed, so even normal blooming would've taken considerably longer than expected. If you were to place a few drops of liquid alchohol into the jets along with the few drops used to load the primer tray, it will bloom much more quickly. When you consider the room temperature and the cold metal of the burner and take them into consideration this makes perfect sense. But people in a rush might not be comfortable with spirit and gel fuels anyway. And by the way, you will get a much cleaner burn that leaves behind very little carbon soot if you cut it back with a little water. Boil times are slowed slightly but burn times are slightly extended in a fair compensation. Not at all a bad trade off and you'll have a cleaner flame with more blue. Its about 50% alchohol as manufactured, so a 9 to 1 ratio works best(4 to 1 for the liquid ETHYL alcohol). The goal is 80/20 and you'll have to experiment in order to get the right ratios, unless of course if you make your own gel from scratch. And remember, yellow colored flame is a telltale sign of carbon dioxide release and is therefore potentially very dangerous. I hope this all helps. But in the end people must make up their own minds in regards to what they feel works for them as individuals. 2:09
