    Wowsers, Andrew, that was absolutely epic! Thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end - awesome shots and you 100% made the most of your time there. Tenerife has been on my “one day” list for a while and I think you’ve just sealed the deal. Thanks for sharing and glad you had a great time. 👍

    Better weather than Scotland with now 11 and a half months with hardly a dry day and I've never known anything like it constant low pressure systems since July 2023 began.Although the odd rare gems got through like Nacreous Clouds in December 2023 and the Aurora Borealis of a few weeks ago.

    It's on my bucket list. Most of my night sky photography is around Coigach and Assynt. Awesome, almost primeval scenery BUT we never actually get the galactic core above the horizon during the hours on darkness, unfortunately. I've just finished working out my dates for October/November when the twilight, moon and Milky Way position place nice together. This sounds ridiculously elitist, but it's a shame to see the area packed with so many "casual" sightseers for whom seeing the stars is probably just one more excursion on their holiday. But then, everyone has a right to enjoy the spectacle and it is a major holiday island. I wonder what the opportunities are like on nearby islands such as La Palma or Gomera? I tried some night sky on Fuerteventura a couple of years ago, but unfortunately we had Calima for the whole time we were there!

  • @scotlandsnightsky
    @scotlandsnightskyАй бұрын

    Still love to visit Assynt and its for sure on my list for places to visit! La Palma seems to be that wee bit darker too since less built up areas. And yes thankfully Scotland doesn't have huge bus loads of people going around at night :)

    That truly is a fine body of work you've built up over the years. May I ask what your goto settings are for a night time timelapse? I'm guessing that your camera has some wiggle room for ISO Invariance to allow you to keep the ISO lowish for wiggle room in post production? BTW really love the shadows move as the moon climbs in the sky.

  • @scotlandsnightsky
    @scotlandsnightsky2 ай бұрын

    Hi mate, some cracking photos and footage as always! Really enjoy watching your videos, they give a brilliant insight into Astro and provide some great knowledge. I’ve had some good success with the NL’s but yet to catch the Milky Way. Your vids are inspiring so I’ve been checking photo pills and weather constantly this month but not had much joy with timing and work etc, the days i did managed out i fluffed up by not getting to the spot quick enough! PS. Hope you didn’t dent the roof of your new van for that photo haha!! Chers again.

  • @scotlandsnightsky
    @scotlandsnightsky2 ай бұрын

    Thanks a bunch Chris! And the van did make some uncomfortable noises when I was on top, probably wont do it again :) Milky Way photography seems to be the hardest to forecast as only a few days a year it seems to be possible with season, weather and moon phase :)

    I'm surprised more people don't use a gimbal for lunar photography. The quality of my images increased 10-fold when I started using a gimbal. Much better support and easier maneuverability. I wouldn't want to carry one around if I was going on a long hike. Otherwise, I prefer having the gimbal.
