    thank you so much, i have a question about this type of actuators, can we use them in automotive applications like to push headrest forward during rear end accident to support driver's head and neck

  • @ProgressiveAutomations
    @ProgressiveAutomationsАй бұрын

    Hello, It is possible to use electric actuators to adjust the positioning of headrests in automotive applications, however, determining the required specifications for the application is crucial to determine which model actuator is the most suitable. The common specs that would help in selecting a model include: • Stroke length • Force rating • Speed • IP rating (Dust and water resistance) • Dimension limitations For more information, we'll be happy to assist via email at [email protected] Thank you, Progressive Automations Team

    Can you wire 4 aculators to one switch please

  • @ProgressiveAutomations
    @ProgressiveAutomations Жыл бұрын

    Yes, it is possible to wire 4 actuators in a parallel circuit to 1 rocker switch as long as the current draw of the 4 actuators combined never exceeds the current rating of the switch being used. For example, our PA-14 actuators draw 5A at max rated load capacity while our RC-12 rocker switch is rated for 20A. The 4 actuators multiplied by 5A results in a 20A draw if all were at full load so this example switch will be sufficient in this use case.

    Sir may I ask if I can switch the gears from a 30mm/s linear actuator to a 4mm/s to increase its speed ..I am planning on swapping their gears to save money for my project..thank you sir

  • @ProgressiveAutomations
    @ProgressiveAutomations Жыл бұрын

    Hi Musphere. A speed of 30mm/s is already faster than the speed of 4mm/s, however, we are assuming you wanted to know if it was possible to swap the gears inside an actuator. Since actuators can have a variety of different internal designs and configurations, we recommend contacting the direct manufacturer of your specific actuator to confirm with them if swapping gears was possible and if it would effect other aspects of your actuator's performance. We do not recommend swapping gears inside our own models of actuators as this voids warranty and also results in a compromised seal for dust and water resistance. Swapping gears also effect the force rating where faster speeds will result in less force capability.

    Is there any double acting electric linear actuator with compact in size?

  • @ProgressiveAutomations

    All our electric linear actuators are double acting in the sense that they depend on electrical power to extend and retract without depending on springs to return them back into a position, however, we do not offer an actuator that comes with two extending arms/shafts in one unit if that was the double acting being referenced.

    We do not have information on which hinge model was used in this project, as this project has been made by one of our customers, however, you may consider heavy-duty door hinges from local hardware stores since having a physical hinge in hand is useful as a reference. If a hinge is catching, check to see if there is a sufficient gap for the hinges to pivot their full range of motion and slightly trim the wooden areas that do not have enough space for the hinges to pivot. You may also try cleaning the door of any debris and lubricating the hinges to reduce friction. If you had any other questions, we’ll happily assist you at [email protected]

    How did you determine the 3-1/2" number on the top arm?

  • @ProgressiveAutomations
    @ProgressiveAutomations Жыл бұрын

    Hello Kyle, The shorter side of a pivoting lever arm will need to be a length that is longer than half of the actuator's stroke to ensure the actuator can travel its full stroke without rotating the pivoting lever mechanism over 180 degrees. Since the actuator used in this video has a shaft that travels a distance of 6 inches, the length for the pivoting lever arm’s shorter side will need to be longer than 3 inches and the 3.5 inch length that was chosen is a relatively even number to work with while not being too oversized. This is crazy loud. Do they make linear actuators that are more subtle?

  • @ProgressiveAutomations
    @ProgressiveAutomations Жыл бұрын

    Hi! Generally, electric actuators are quieter than most pneumatic and hydraulic actuators. These PA-14 model linear actuators have an operating noise of <45 dBA which is similar to most of our other units. It is also important to keep in mind that audio recordings can sometimes be effected by the microphone settings, positioning, and room echo. In some instances of the video, four actuators were operating which can result in more noise than projects that use two or less actuators. To reduce noise, you may be also consider sound absorbing foam or other damping materials to soundproof an application. We hope this helps! -Progressive Automations

    Not sure if you've ever played Fallout, but if I theoretically wanted to make a powerfist, what would be the best one of your actuators to use?

  • @ProgressiveAutomations
    @ProgressiveAutomations Жыл бұрын

    Hello, For an effective punching motion, you will typically require a method of exerting motion at a high speed and medium to high force. In theory, you may consider using an electric actuator such as our PA-QR1 which has a quick-release feature that can allow for installation to heavy-duty springs. The actuator is to move the fist and the heavy-duty springs into position so you can lock them in place and then release a lever or trigger mechanism to fire the springs and fist at a high speed. This allows for a punching motion at high speeds that most actuators are not easily able to achieve. Thank you!

  • @ProgressiveAutomations
    @ProgressiveAutomations Жыл бұрын

    Hello, Our Miniature Electric Linear Actuators in the video can be wired with relays or an H-bridge to allow for controllers such as Arduino the ability to operate the actuator. These relays or H-bridge circuits must be able to handle 12 VDC and a current draw of at least 5A to allow for the proper operation of a single Miniature Electric Linear Actuator.
