This is exactly what I was looking for! No one would explain where to find it, just how it worked.
Thank you! Subscribed just for this.
I'm back. I am working with 5 layers with micro variation and distance blending. I was hoping I could create a layer with the same material as my base layer and add a grass node type to it so that when I painted down this particular layer, grass would appear. Sounds simple but no. I can't get it to work no matter how hard I try. Can you help me out here? :)
There is a thing that nobody cover, how to make more than one InstanceFoliageActor, when you work on huge forests you would manage areas of thousands of foliages, so you would divide in more than just InstanceFoliageActor0, and then because there is a 0 I guess it would be also 1 2 and so on, it is very powerful if you want to divide also foliage casting shadows and foliage that doesn't to save performance, or to divide grass in one actor and trees in another, I would really know how to use more than one actor, this information is not covered neither in the epic forum, nobody tell about it. By the way thanks a lot for all your knowledge, you are always very deep teaching, I learn from you from UDK 3.5, you are one of the best UE teachers, thank you.
Thank you so much! great explanation, exactly what I needed! I would say go straight to the second method and skip the first method though
Ive been working on my game for over 2 months now, started building a night level and all of a sudden i see how annoying the lighting is. I was losing my mind, 4 hours later I decide to youtube my problem instead of google and found this. Will give this a try later and hope all goes better from here on out. 😂
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED OMG THANK YOU! Seriously the burnout of finally trying to finish a project for once and I never thought I'd be doing a night level... Seriously you saved me! Thank you!
Thanks
I cannot find the basematerial thing..
Like I always say... You bailed me out again ole friend. I appreciate your information always Alex.

Damage big weapon
15 years ago... it's almost old as me it's funny to see the limitation of when the video was released, 50 ctrl + z was too much memory, and things like that.
Thank you WoLD
since i did this, my character can't move forward nor backwards, only left and right. any way i can fix this? thanks
No need to do the post processing though, unless needed for some odd reason. Just click on the 'Edit' tab up top, then click on 'Project Settings', on the left hand side or the 'list tree', scroll down to 'Engine' section, then click on 'Rendering', then type (search) auto exposure, OR scroll all the way down to 'default settings' section and uncheck auto exposure.
how do u make the zombies spawn
it is blacked out on my settings, how can i enable it?
I don't have the road textures in hammer, what I do?
Thanks. If your GPU supports it, does Hardware Raytracing perform better than Software Raytracing?
Hardware Ray Tracing is higher quality and more visually accurate. It has more performance cost (more resources are being used) but can be faster than software depending on the computer/graphics you have.
Thank you so much. Can I have meshes in UE scene positioned just like it in Maya, while pivots are correct.
Glad to help. And yes. You can manually modify the pivot position to be at origin of the world while the mesh is somewhere else. Might be hard to work or move them but yes. Maybe take a look at this workflow video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oahn0aablrSvaLA.html
OH MY GOD TYSM! I THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA STAY LIKE THAT BUT BECAUSE OF YOU I FIXED MY ISSUE TYSM
Im trying to build my first portfolio piece and I want it to be a sci fi technician workshop and I can imagine how it looks in my head but when Im about to blockout - I don't know I get somewhat scared? I think its because I want too much but don't know how to build it exactly? Anyway, Im greatful for this video! Hope you will do more like these in the future :)
Nice!
The are the best that ever did it! Thank you!
thx
Thought Id comment this because I had this issue, after changing scales and sizes you might need to adjust the near and far clip plane of the perspective camera to something like 1 for near and 100000 for far, or you can get black artifacts on the mesh. great tutorial
Thank you! Really helped me out there!
Is there any way to go below Layer Bottom Altitude 0 like -1000 so I have low clouds in my environment?
