The Holberg Prize is an international prize awarded annually to a scholar who have made outstanding contributions to research in the fields mentioned above. The Prize amounts to NOK 6 000 000 (approximately EUR 525,000 or USD 575,000 as of 01.04.2020). The Prize was established by the Norwegian Parliament in 2003, and awarded for the first time in 2004. It is named after the Danish-Norwegian writer Ludvig Holberg.
The Holberg Prize organisation also awards the Nils Klim Prize each year to a scholar from the Nordics under 35 years within the same above mentioned fields, and hosts a research competition called the Holberg Prize School Project for students in Norwegian upper secondary schools.

For starters, the spectrum of Hydrogen fits a classiical formula which does not place a limit on one of two numbers needed produce iit. The same formula simultaneously says that the possible states are quantized, and these are also produced by a non classical method called quantum mechanics, formulated by using probability waves rather than the particles of classical mechanics. Regardless, the infinity of states possible remains... and complete explanations are thus impossible to begin with, and probably undesirable to end with. I had/have a problem with the "....probably...." statement about non living things not having the "feeling like a ........(fill in the blank)...." Because what better "feels like a table" than the table? Theravada Buddhism Pali canon Buddha discourses seem relevant, the way the Buddha teachings lead the followers to cease all the mechanisms of "being" and "self" to reach nibbana. I always feel so disappointed with these consciousness discussions which don't take into consideration the Pali canon nibbana achievement steps which include dissecting and dispensing with "being" and "self" mechanisms.

My sister and I cared for her husband during his end of life during COVID. We had a ring camera in his room to monitor him. In reviewing the film after his passing, we observed orbs in his room and an actual large orb leavie his body. In addition, we have a film of orbs which remained in my sister's room. im watching this through, and so far, the first speaker (the bald guy) was kind of bad. he constantly references anecdotal and speculatory evidence for his conclusions on things that have little basis in reality. His claims are just conjecture at best, and his comparisons to well-understood concepts like technology and equating them to a neurological understanding to support his argument for human consciousness to be reactionary rather than presently aware is kind of ridiculous. He's provided no actual arguments for why neurotransmitters are not the basis of consciousness. By his logic that there's an underlying layer of a 'mind' that we don't understand that empowers our consciousness to be active without the use of biochemical signals, wouldn't he implying that neurotransmitters do not at all carry biochemical signals that command the nervous system? If so that's really a reach, because it's a proven thing, and medications that work for millions of people every day rely on specific biochemical interations sent from the brain to the nervous system, and if these signals were misunderstood by modern science, we wouldn't have medication like Vicodin and seizure medication that act on these signals that we absolutely understand as information messengers within our consciousness. If there's no consciousness working, what's our nervous system reacting to? A magical force he calls 'the mind'? No, it's reacting to neurotransmitters carrying biochemical signals.
Instead of devising, Frankenstein-like, pseudo-consciousness in machines which do not need to be fed, we should ensure our political economies pay the cost of their own sovereignty by feeding the conscious organic human beings we already have -- and will continue to have if the democracies do not first make human birth impossible as they are certainly striving to do -- feeding the people through a citizen stipend, as I have proposed in my magnum opus, "Popular Capitalism".

Consciousness is purely a physical phenomenon. To characterize it as anything else is erroneous. The problem is equating consciousness with self awareness. They're hardly the same thing - Our core being is not physical in nature. We can exist without our body. Our soul, or our spirit, or whatever you might want to call it ... such is everything we are without our physical body.

When Rupert spoke of fields and their influence such as gazing, I was waiting for the mention of Martial Arts. In my own experience in my dojo we did some outside training whereby someone stood about 50 meters away and facing away from us. They would signal when they felt the gaze of the person transmitting and what side of the body they felt it on. It is all about using KI which is a type of field / force in the body that can be manipulated. On consciousness, I must question Anil's theory of why it stops when the person dies as because it only exists in the brain. There is another possibility and that is that what we see as consciousness is the mind being connected to the body and when our body is able to support life. But it is a temporary home for the mind which may very well actually exist in one of the ten dimensions that modern physics promotes. So that when the connections is lost or even deliberately severed as in astral projection the body shows no signs of consciousness. This theory also explains demonic possession. For example spirits also could live in some dimension as well and can if the mind is weak tune in and takeover if someone engages in drugs, or ouija boards as in the exorcist. the real event not the movie.
I saw nothing novel in the first two speakers presentation. I have paused before the third. I enjoy listening to people like Roger Penrose, David Hamilton, and Federico Faggin. Beyond that it strikes me as a lot of people in a lot of professional under compunction to publish and speak non-compelling "stuff". Update: third speaker was awesome and did a great job showing the mind can project an emf beyond the brain such as in staring or being stared at.
