  explanation in a bit of detail - in 1916 the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics siezed control of a wartorn Russian empore that had just gone though a workers revolution and were in the middle of WWI. In 1939 France fell to the Third Reich leaving only Britain behind to face off against the German Luftwaffe (tge planes in the background).
