It most certainly was not an "Untold Story" I have seen so much about the Polish fighting in WW2. Some Polish pilots settled in England after the war. Some who lived in my area of the East Midlands are still spocken of today with great reverence. So it isn't an untold story , it is just one you didn't see. Here is a link to a film on youtube that was made during the war. The film would have been shown at cinemas throughout the Nation and seen by millions. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2l3qJaFnanWfJM.htmlsi=i5BrE6YO_4oZ9Pzj

Absolutely correct. It's modern revisionism by currently lefties to turn uninformed public opinion against British history. BTW. "Some Polish settled in the UK after the war"? The UK's "1947 Polish Resettlement Act" granted FULL UK citizenship and residency rights to nearly 250,000 Polish ex-service personnel and their families. Have a listen to this gentleman, Victor Komarnicki, who flew with the RAF during WW2 as a bomber pilot with 300 (Polish) Sqd. kzread.info/dash/bejne/na2e1KmMpbaegNI.html What an incredibly decent respectful & honourable gentleman, FAR removed from the general standard of MANY of the clueless modern day commenters in these threads.

So what? Do you believe wars are paid for by charity and cost nothing? Do you stupidly expect OTHER PEOPLE (i.e the UK taxpayer) to pay for the Polish part of the war effort to topple the murderous nazi regime and remove its evil from POLISH SOIL? When YOU go out for a night out, do you expect your friends to pay for your food and drinks? Seeing as you like "fun facts" here are a few more for you to enjoy.... Polish "honour" meant that when it was graciously allowed to set up its exiled government in London in June 1940 it signed various agreements with the British government, one of which was to pay for all the goods and services it received from Britain, the exiled Polish government preferring to be an "independent national force" rather than a ragged bunch of itinerant mercenaries. For its own part, Britain had by 1942 handed ALL 1,400 TONS of its OWN pre-war gold reserve over to the US government to pay for the arms and equipment it was using to continue the fight against the conquerors of YOUR country. Once all that gold had been spent, we then handed over ALL of our own cutting edge British scientific research to the US as well as global basing rights on empire territory to the US armed forces, and then when all that had been accounted for, we ran the British part of the war effort and indeed our whole UK economy on US Loans. Not "GIFTS"... but "LOANS" that needed repaying. We only finished repaying the tens of BILLIONS of pounds worth of debt to the US in 2006. As a result of this unforeseen ruinous expenditure we could no longer afford to maintain our own empire, which hastened the collapse of both the British Empire & the entire UK economy after WW2. By the end of WW2 Great Britain had been transformed from the world's richest nation in 1900 to the world's largest debtor in 1945. What you also will have utterly no awareness of is that the majority of Polish war debt was written off by the UK as it was clear that there was no way that the postwar Polish communist regime were ever going to pay the rest of it back. And then clueless commenters like yourself complain about having to pay a pittance for YOUR part in freeing YOUR country from nazi death camps & tyranny. You should have let us know in 1939 that you were going to beat the nazis alone, then we could have left you to it, and saved ourselves all our OWN gold reserve, 460,000 British lives and our empire. Now please go and burn the communist schoolbooks your country was forced to "learn" from between 1945 and 1990.

@@walterkronkitesleftshoe6684You yourselves pushed us into the war with the Germans... Don't throw around platitudes about camps and Nazis because no one was bothered by the fact that at the same time the Russians were doing the same to us... No one cared about being sent to Siberia, no one cared that the USSR attacked us. You didn't mind several hundred thousand Polish women raped in 1944/45... You simply used us as cannon fodder. The difference is that we fulfilled the contract, you sold us to a man next to whom Hitler was simply an angel... Go further, despite the hatred towards the USSR and the harm they did to us... It was the Red Army that drove the Germans out of Poland, in such a way that we missed the Germans, but it was they who drove the Germans out of Poland, not the British. Dude, I don't read communist textbooks, but you could read something objective instead of historical propaganda.

@@walterkronkitesleftshoe6684 When I read such nonsense, I regret that we rejected Hitler's offer... There would be no Russia, and you would serve the Germans politely. During air and ground operations, U.S. and allied forces destroyed over 3,000 tanks, 1,400 armored personnel carriers, and 2,200 artillery pieces along with countless other vehicles."
