What sealants did you use?
@@-1-2-1- i used regular black rtv sealant,
To prevent dry starts when changing oil on the Land Rover it is important to.step 1 drain the oil from crank case.step 2 fill the crank case with new oil. Step 3 remove old oil filter. step 4 replace with new prefilled oil filter. The Land Rover shop manual states not to remove the oil from the crank case and the oil filter at the same time, because when the motor starts, there will be no oil in the pick up tube and when you start the motor the oil pump will pump air instead of oil for the first few seconds.
Even in the video it took several seconds for the oil light to go out when you first started it. that’s because there was no oil in the pick up tube or the oil pump. because it all drained out the oil filter when you removed it.
Thanks for the good video mate! Do u remember how much oil you drained from the sump?
@@danieltorres2196 if i do a service i use 10ltr and keep pumping for a while to get dirty oil from torque converter, most service kits come with 10ltrs
Thanks! 😉👍🏼@@offroadrehab-yw3yp
Did you buy that or make it looks great
@@brown6944 hi, i made it myself thanks
Fair play bud! I love it
@@brown6944 thats what i lv about land rovers, make it big and bang it on ha
That's an excellent job. What did you use in the restoration of the Exhaust manifolds, upper intake and valve covers? Looks brand new.
Exhaust, upper intake was soda blasted, then exhaust was cerakote, valve covers were powder coated, was a nice little project, did it for a friend, its a manual too, hes currently got it up for sale, thanks for watching video
The other thing you can do is when it continuously beeps like that, get out and put your ear to the sensors, the ones that are working will make a ticking/clicking sound, the faulty one won't be making any noise.
Hi - my dash just went black on my 1999 - do all three bulbs just got out at the sam time?
Have you tried lightly tapping clocks? I could get one of my bulbs on that way, its worth checking your fuses,
Thanks for the video. I changed my Thor’s oil last week but added a longer Wix oil filter (5151XP?) and a 14mm magnetic oil sump plug bolt.
I like the sound of the sump plug, do you have a link thanks
@@offroadrehab-yw3yp I bought it when I was in the states at AutoZone part #652166.
Масло в фильтр наливать ненадо.
@@user-ti1yp2px8l yes there is, especially on a Land Rover

Your winch and battery electrics set up is nice and neat!
Thank you,
yesterday I removed the actuator bushings. I used a 1/2 inch socket 29mm. I think 29mm is more accurate.
Thanks for sharing.
Sounds grand
Hi great video when i had my disco this 10 min job became 30 min's 🤣 due to front light guard's, 2 x spot light's then the soft bull bar 🤣
Yeah never quick jobs on a land rover ha, iv a massive list of jobs to get through, they keep us entertained
If I remember correctly when I worked at main dealers 20 years ago it was 0.2 hours (12mins) labour for a straight headlight bulb change but about 1.5 hours (90 mins) if bull bar and spots fitted. Back then over £100 just for a bulb change. It was never a problem on the early disco 2 headlights.
@@woodcote90 mine was the face lift version
Yeah i couldnt work in a dealer i take far too long messing about and cleaning things, must of been fun working on older discovery’s back in day, do you still have anything to do with LR or own one cheers
@@offroadrehab-yw3yp I don't really do much with motor trade these days but I own one of the last 300tdi defenders that I'm going to put a new chassis on in the summer.
Thanks for showing how to do it. What scanner are you using?
Hi i use nanocom
Great tutorial thanks 👍
Mine has the same ticking issue, discovery VR2 1999, thought it was the exhaust manifold but I can see that airs coming from where the block meets the rocker arms and stuff :( no leaks of any kind, just sounds of pure air puffing out the side :(
Also, not a ticking noise, it’s air escaping just coming from the side :(
Yeah id say your head gaskets gone buddy
И пошла охлаждающая жидкость в в цилиндры😂

This is great man, i will use this video to squeeze as much life out of whatever rotting disco 2 i can get my hands on.
Ha ha, look out for a good disco you will find one, maby i can do a video on places to check for rust
Whats up with all that creaking and groaning.....
Thats me ha, the videos done do land rovers justice the terrain was great and the range rover coped very well, the brakes usually make creaking noises
Ok. I’m already terrified as it is hearing about the issue so that’s good to know.
No need to worry there very well built, best 4x4 by far
Great job!! You got the heads machined, but how come you didn’t deck the block?
Deck was checked with straight edge and feeler gauge, i also check deck at night with straight edge and torch, engine looked in great shape, i soaked piston rings too and cleaned top of liners, very little wear on liners, engine covered over 100k , thanks for comment, do you own a Rv8
I tried to bleed my ACE today and didn't see the rams moving at all. It is all set to on with nanocom so I'm not sure what that's all about. Any idea what the 3 different options for bleeding are?
Hi they dont move much to be honest, when i bled my ace i could only just feel the body move , some people say put into low ratio and get axles articulating, from the reservoir to valve block bleeds on its own,
Those wipers would bug me !
I'm going to be doing this soon. Could I ask why you didn't do the oil pump and chain? Do you recommend it?
The engine made good oil pressure, if i was doing a full rebuild then yes i would change as much as possible, suppose it comes down to cost and time, have you checked your pressure? Thanks
As bad of a reputation these engines got you are now good for another 100,000 miles.

Excellent troubleshooting mate! 👍🏽 On my NAS ‘01 D2 V8 I obviously do not have the parking sensors but I do have that ever shite aux light relay box @3:52. It’s best to remove it and add a weather proof relay(s). It’s so simple to complete. I’ve got 3 of those aux light boxes in my garage from when I lived in states and all of ‘em do not work. 😜 Cheers from a Yank in Suffolk! 🇬🇧🏴
Thank you, hope it helps
Cheers let me know if you want a sticker, iv made a few and wanted to see how far i can get them, watch my just for fun video it will show you , thanks
You need buy air or battery tools makes life easier
Never mind I see you have battery impact
Hope u like the video’s, thanks
I just bought my 2004 land rover discovery 2 and any information helps to learn information is the key to success as I do most all my work on all my vehicles this is my second land rover I also own a lr3 but D2 has soild front and rear axles that makes it much easier to do many upgrades and I understand when it comes to tools sometimes you have to make do with what you have 😊
Plenty of videos to watch on my channel im always trying to keep the discovery going. Where abouts are you in the world
The great state of TEXAS usa 🇺🇸
Needed a head gasket?
Its my mates engine, im on with changing head gaskets for him
Nice 👍
hello, what model of nanocom do you need to be able to adjust the ACE of a Discovery TD5 of 2002 thank you very much for your video, I have a DT5 and I am in France.
I have nanocom evolution, its a simple process, just go in to ace on nanocom and your able to de select ace then write to bcu, id keep ace if you can its a great system
Is this near Brewood?👍
Hi, its at tong, in west yorkshire thanks
@@offroadrehab-yw3yp Cheers.
Are you coming for a play
Which bumpers this just bought one second hand
I will look on bumper, i think make is on it
I’ve always wanted to install a Disco 1 auto tranny pan with a level dipstick to my Disco 2 V8. It’s the same sump clamps and bolts for both Discos. Thanks from Suffolk! 🇺🇸
Yeah , i think that would make a great video, i will look out for one, thanks
looks like so much fun.
Yes its a great day out, and was very professional
Great video, only wished you had shown how you took roof apart. That’s the part I’m worried about on my 2004 Ds 2.🇨🇦
Do not fear ha, im going to do my mates and i will do a video
I'll have one if you dare see one on a 4x4 duster 😂
Yeah why not, there prob decent off road, have you been wading with it yet
Sweet👍
Thanks, check out my other videos
Did you have the amber ACE light on in your dashboard?
No amber light buddy , i was just showing nanocom operating warning light,
@@offroadrehab-yw3yp thanks a lot for your feedback. I believe I will have to do the same procedure in order to bleed the ACE system
Yeah no worries, let me know if you need any data
Iv got other videos with live data that might help you
Can you share with me?
I binned my ACE off and went back to standard roll bars.
Yeah i did same years ago on my td5 but on this d2 iv a roof tent this time so im giving the ace a chance, do you do any off roading with the standard roll bars,
Enjoyed the vid. Yorkshire is stunning! 👍Subscribed
Thank you for subscribing , lots of places to visit, think i will post more videos
Looks great with everything cleaned up, good job that's the way to do things. 👍
Wait till mines out I'll show you how much abuse a v8 can take 😆
Carnt wait ha, yours will be immaculate in no time, and plenty of big mods
@@offroadrehab-yw3yp it won't m8 tyres a lift and HD bumper bk bumper that's about it
Did your Disco have trouble going above 2000 RMP before the fix?
It didnt have that problem, has yours
difficult job this, well done for completing it.
Would of made a decent video, i repaired axle last year before i had a tripod for my camera, i going to replace some bushes on ace rams next
Where did you buy the ball joint tool, and how long did it take its next on my list.
I borrowed tool, there cheap enough to buy off ebay, it took me a couple of days because i like to clean and paint parts, its not too bad of a job to do,
Normally you should wind new rope in under tension; i.e. hooked up to a tree etc.
Thank you for advice, i will do that when i find some decent space, i only had little room in-front of garage, iv only had little experience with winches, only hoping to use winch as a last resort, i might look in to some training
Awesome nice to see your stickers all the way around the world 👋🌍🌎🌏
Thanks, if people send me pics or videos i will add them on to back of my edits
What thermostat do you use as my v8 runs hot cheers
Just standard thermostat, and standard piping, with my nanocom connected engine temps sit at 92 degC. With a ambient temp at 6-15 degC . Keep a look out for a video coming on my channel about my engine nanocom results and live data
