Hello and Welcome!
My name is George and I live in Northampton, UK. Electronics and Radio have been both careers and hobbies but now both are just hobbies.
I buy, beg borrow or steal old, new and broken things to restore, repair or destroy on the channel. Some things are 'fixer uppers', some are pure repairs but some are not worth the time of day or the replacement components. Every now and Then i might throw in a basics or an unboxing video and test items at random. I buy a lot of random electronics stuff at local auctions and this gives me a fair amount of projects to show as well as teach you that not everything is worth the eBay price. Stick around and join me in exploring some good, bad and downright ugly bits of electronics from new tech to stuff that is over 40 years old or even more.
As well as the ''one who must be obeyed'' and the two daughters I also have guinea pigs which may feature in some videos!

George my weller is also not working any more .Do you maybe have a cct diagram ?
Ummm r u in North Korea??? Why do you have a live long Kim poster the size of your wall ?!? Like that just instantly a simple way to get me to not watch anything of yours again sad because you seem to know what your doing but I can’t believe your pro North Korea with how they treat their citizens and the constant nuke threats
Replace your fan
Fix it.
Excellent contribution 🎉thanks
Hello I found a Sono Clock 31 at the flea market yesterday. in red But the display only lights up dark at full level with the block battery, what could be the reason Thank you
Please don't do that? don't send them to Bill, send that 2N3055 to me? Rob can make a nice modulator with it! ;-) LOL Healthy and Friendly Greetings from the Netherlands!
The less components the better the results. My first AM transmitter was a one germanium OC44 transistor circuit, modulated by the output of my portable reel to reel tape recorder ie a basic 4 transistor 1watt or less amplifier such as in portable radios etc. With a 5m antenna it had a range of about 1km on a 6v supply. Without the anntena it's range was about 10m. The sound fidelity was excellent and stable without any drift. The oscillator and feedback coil was wound on a 15cm ferrite rod.
Best video 👍🏻. This stile kits is much butter ready to operative. It a not easy calibrated.
This will drain the battery if you don't use the vehicle often.
What about the audio output of this turn table? Is it line level or phono? In other words, does it need a phono preamplifier?
This guy is a clown, looks horrible
Why not just realign the radio to 50 ohms instead of 400 ohms if you are going to use a standard dipole? If you align to 400 ohms and attach a 50 ohm dipole instead of the standard long wire doesn't that detune the radio you aligned expecting a 400 ohm impedance?
Where can I find a replacement for the FCM7010 IC? Could not find it anywhere.
Thank you and appreciate your effort. Greetings to you from Turkey .
There's no circuit diagram anywhere.
it is a ready built module from AliExpress
Geog good to saw you and I see you yesertday
The laws of the universe dictate that if you open the boxes at random your leads will be in the last one you choose!
Good to see you again. I'm sure you will get it sorted when we get a run of good weather. Look forward to the first video from the workshop. Regards Peter.
Good to see/hear from you again George 🤘🙂 After rearranging all those boxes you'll be a Tetris master
Good to see you on the tooob again and glad you are making progress. It has to stop raining soon, doesn't it?
Nice to hear from you again. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before you get back to normal.
The leads are in that box on the floor, next to that other one was on the floor but got moved to the other part of the floor! Offers still there if you need any help. Congrats on the 5K subscribers!
I still recall UK weather, more chance of winning the pools than getting a dry day
It is great to see you again George! You sure have LOTS of boxes, don;t feel bad, I label what few boxes I have and I still can't find what I am looking for...LOL Be looking forward to you making videos again, take care.
George, I cannot imagine quite how chaotic this is, as you may know I have moved a number of times and know too well how stuff can be lost in boxes. If you need a hand shout me up through the usual channels.
Looking forwards, George, to when you are fully up and running again,
Great to see you George and glad all the work is getting towards the end fingers crossed for some dry weather all round it’s been awful here too looking forward to you making videos again all the best Daniel
Great to see you again George . I realy miss your entertauning videos ..
Summer's coming, we just don't know which day it's scheduled for...
Great to see you George! No apologies are necessary sir, we're just glad that you and your wife are getting things squared away and back to semi-normal. We'll all be here when you are ready to put something out. Try not to have a box / or boxes collapse on you!
Good to see you are safe and well. Take care. From Scotland.🏴
Thanks for the update George, we have guinea pigs too but i'm not on Tik Toc, pleased to hear you are keeping well 😀
Glad you are still alive and as ever, great to hear from you. Come back soon, be safe my friend.
Well done 👏 ✔
wow with those boxes I can see how it would be completely impossible to do any projects. Good to see you George. Well at least the damage from the fire got repaired and you aren't homeless. My biggest project is the U.S. Army 1952 Dodge 3/4 Ton 4x4 Project I have been working on for 10 months. Then got my brother back from the hospital yesterday after he had 4 vertebrae in his neck fused. Life sometimes gives us Lemons its up to us to make the Lemonade.
Hey George, good to see and hear from you again. I think most of us know about not being able to find things. Even when my shop is sorted I still can't find things. LOL
its good to know your still with us, I'm also surrounded by boxes which I have had for ten years and I still haven't unpacked everything I need to sell more Stuff
Congratulations your explanation
Can you really just put Silicone transistors into a radio like this without panicking over bias arrangements etc??
I built it this weekend. Easy project. All parts provided. Nothing left out (except knobs/dials for variable cap and audio input potentiometer). With a little twiddling I finally got a strong, clear signal with minimal distortion. I went rouge and connected it up to my outdoor SW antenna and ground. I dove my truck around and listened to the transmission with my truck radio. The signal covered most of my neighborhood block. I'm sure I could improve transmission range with a better tuned antenna. Presumably there are lots of spurious signals being generated. The transmission signal drops off pretty quickly outside of my immediate neighborhood area. It will make a nice local pirate station.
Do you have some tips about a HVL-2-Dm, which won't light one ? I try a brand-new battery. Nothing.
clearly you dont have a clue how this operates!.
did you use a lower value current higher power sense resistor too?.
the 24v regulator is just for powering fans,it has nothing to do with the opamps!.
Sir
This is my favourite DIY ultrasonic cleaner if all time. Who cares if it works or not
Hej, I bought this kit years ago but have no schematics... May you help me? Thanks.
I am interested to buy a Grundig TK 46 or 47 with 3 speeds, in good running order, to listen to some very old songs of my youth
no the tip is not magnet is just iron and with defrend thiknes the thiker one it works hoter and the thiner one is sets a lower tempre and thats is why they had a number at the botom of the tip the rest of the tip is coper and the end of the tip is cadmium plated..at the other hand the magnet swich have a NATURAL magnet that loses the magnetism at tha hi temperatur and stops the power at the heating element... when it cool dowh the magnet is working like a magnet and energize ths swich to give power to the heating element ...the magnet i a NATURAL magnet and is not neodmiun one the neodmiun one loses the mgnetism for ever if it heats up
Any particular reason you use enamelled wire rather than pvc covered wire George. I always think.....easy to damage the enamel and have a short. Nick.
