Motherland Music in Los Angeles is a magical place for African and other ethnic percussive music. These videos are quick phone grabs from class with the world class teachers who share their decades (and often multi-generational decades) of exceptional experience and knowledge. The videos are to use at home to study from and practice (so no production value whatsoever). Enjoy.

If you are in LA, come to Motherland Music Saturdays noon to 3. Beginners welcome and they have drums. Teachers are excellent it is a LOT of fun.
That is awesome and looks a lot of fun!!! Liked and subbed!
Thanks for the sub!
@@DarrylFranklin You're very welcome friend! We gotta get rich off of KZread together!
I'd love to see more instructional videos with brotha man. I like how the Djembe next to him the blue or purple verticals has that bleached spot on it. My Djembe has two bleached spots on it. I like how patient brotha man is.
I have been watching the video that brotha weedie Braimah did about the rhythm lamba. I love that rhythm even though I'm still getting the hang of the rhythm it's so funky and rhythmatic to me. I'm glad I seen the video there was another way I was taught but I had always felt that it wasn't the right way with the slap slap tone tone slap slap.os this lamba the traditional way of playing that was a question I always wanted to ask someone who played it consistently.
My master!!!! I miss you sooooo much!!! Love to you and the family!

That is an interesting drum pattern played in 4/4. I had only knew about the ternary version. This must be the binary pattern, that allows to grow in energy during the dance/playing performance.
Amazing 😮

Oh, I have learned some different patterns for Kassa 🤔
This is a improvised version of Kassa.
Great. Thank you
A major thing I learned from this great video is that the drummer eats chocolate, and that this must explain his knowledge and skill. I’ll do that too, maybe I’ll improve 😉
Pure heat. Powerful energy.
Very easy to apprehend. Great, thank you. 👍😀👌❤
