    I thought the chains are supposed to last the lifetime of the car? Whereas belts need changing. Every 5 years?

  • @lnhomeprojects2109
    @lnhomeprojects21095 ай бұрын

    Yes, in theory they would last the life of the car, but the truth is that in reality they stretch over time, ending up loose, making noise and being in danger of breaking. In the case of this engine, I changed it because there is a known problem with the guides, and not knowing if they had already been changed, I preferred to change it.

    They do with regular services and proper maintenance and let’s face it these days nobody has any knowledge of how maintenance plays a major part in how long your car lasts people just don’t care until it’s breaks

    Wszystko ok, ale dwie rzeczy, których nie róbcie nigdy, bo zniszczycie całą robotę. Minuta 04:30 i 06:30 Jak odkręcacie drążki w vw golf 4 lub w jakim kolwiek innym aucie to po ściągnięciu gumowej osłony od drążka tylko po lewej stronie koła znajduje się element/miejsce do przytrzymania kolumny kierowniczej kluczem ( to miejsce jest zaraz za drążkiem, ale tylko z jednej strony ) . Trzymamy kolumnę kluczem i drugim odkręcamy drążek, bo robiąc tak jak na filmie, odkręcając i dokręcając bez przytrzymania możecie uszkodzić kolumnę. Z prawej strony ( jak na filmie ) nie ma miejsca na klucz dlatego podczas odkręcania tej strony musicie trzymać kolumnę kluczem zamontowanym z lewej strony aby jej nie przekręcić. Druga sprawa. Nie przykrecajcie na maxa śrub od wahacza jak koło jest podniesione. Dwie ostatnie śruby od wahacza dokręccie na maxa jak założycie już koło i opuścicie go z lewarka ( bez kanału da się dokręcić), bo wtedy tuleje są w pozycji zero, a jak skręcicie je wcześniej i opuścicie koło to się naciągną i pierwszy wjazd na krawężnik zerwie je w środku, w tulei. Nie wiem czy dobrze podpowiedziałem, ale myślę, że jak pomyślicie i na spokojnie do tego podejdziecie to nic nie zniszczycie. Pozdrawiam

    Friend, can you ask me a question? I have a vw polo with this engine, and the following happens, the rotations at idle are unstable, it accelerates by itself up to 1,200rpm, and while driving it takes a long time to lower the rpm... obd. Is it the RPM or Map sensor? Thank you 🤗

    Hi there, I hope you are good sir, thank you for these wonderful videos they really do help. I was working on the exact same engine but it was leaking oil on the timing cover seal, i removed the timing cover as per instructions on the video and then replaced gasket and the seal that was leaking, then i put it all back together, as per the assemble video, but now the car wont start, all it does it cranks, would you be so kind to advise what could be causing this ? I did not touch/mess with the timing chain, all i did was just remove the cover to replace the seal and gasket, then assembled.

    It looks like you cannot remove the rocker cover gasket (valve cover gasket) without removing the timing belt, as the camshaft pulleys, are bolted onto the cover, You might want to also replace the timing belt and water pump whilst your there, as you have to take it off the timing belt anyway, unless you don't mind doing the job again in the future, as in remove the timing belt again in the future. I mean if you don't mind doing the same job multiple times, you may as well not replace the water pump when you do the timing belt, and just remove and refit the timing belt when you do the water pump. The only reason people replace them at the same time is in order to remove the water pump you have to remove the timing belt. If you have a car where the water pump doesn't run on the timing belt then you don't need to replace it with the timing belt. In the UK their is a company called Haynes which make workshop manuals for DIY'ers, it usuaslly contains most of the torque settings, maybe if your not in the UK you can see if you can buy one in whichever country you reside. I don't know if they are only sold in the UK or not.

    5:43 ... You should have used Break Cleaner and you should have used it on the shaft, not on the bearing. Bearings should be installed dry. You should only oil the parts that should turn / spin. You don't want the inner part of the bearing to spin around the shaft, so you don't oil it.

    4:23 How the hell do you get that damn bolt to come off ? I have a similar engine (BCB) and I cannot get this off for the life of me. My impact isn't strong enough, and using a breaker bar while both cams are locked only seems to turn the crankshaft anyways. My timing is probably way off now. Christ on a bike !
