  One thing I noticed, up to the point of this chapter anyway is that the only time Ruby has been able to use her silver eyes power on purpose without effort or shock, was when Penny's life was in danger. You saw it in the last chapter of Volume 7 when Cinder was in the room with Penny right after Penny got the Winter Maiden powers, and then in this chapter when the Hound was threatening Penny with the claw across the throat gesture. All of the other uses have either been shock or with concentration. I think that really shows the protective nature and friendship of Ruby and Penny. Not sure if that's cannon or not, I don't do all the deep dive stuff, I just like the show, lol. Also Penny has been my favorite character since she showed up :)

  4:49 Close enought, but that is incorrect Todoroki’s mother didn’t burn him because she thought it was ugly It was because due to the harsh abuse Endeavor caused on her, she became mentally unstable and ill and the reason why she burned Shoto’s face by using a tea kettle and pouring hot scalding water on his left side: it was because the fire side of his Quirk reminded her too much of Endeavor. Realizing the horrible deed she made, she used her Quirk in order to try and treat the burn, only for the scar to permanently stay on his left side

  I was leaving a comment about my experiences at RPI in the late 1990s as a grad student there but then I heard you getting into "gender diversity". You can't force women to like or want to go into engineering or related fields. It's not a very nurturing field. As a gay man I was very happy with the 5 to 2 men to women ration. Plenty of eye candy but unfortunately too many eye sore Karens like yourself!
