I can relate to you with the wanting to know the deeper meaning of things from a young age. Seems to be an instinct that some people are born with and I wouldn't change that for anything. I remember you from time ago on MW2. You seem to have always paved your own way and added your own creative spin on things. You were born gifted and it's up to you to channel those gifts for the better! Btw I used to edit in the cod scene way back when we gamed and I turned that passion of video editing into a full time job recently. I wouldn't have had this passion if you wouldn't have made those episodes back then so I'm really grateful for that. You're understanding of narrative and the way you shape your KZread videos are really good though too, you've definitely got something here

Hi Oli, u lived in China for a few yrs. U may have heard Sun Zi Art of War 孙子兵法. The first thing to evaluate in order to win a war is to know yourself (strength, weakness, environment / location advantage) & also that of your enemy. 知己知彼 百战不殆。 Whatever venture, the first step is the most difficult because u (oneself) are your greatest enemy. Once u overcome this fear of self, u will be able to move forward.

Mate, listening to you is like looking in a mirror and listening to myself talk. I have a sneaking suspicion there might (the emphasis is on might) be some underlying ADHD (neurodivergent), which is why you start many different things and then move on to the next thing, which is the next big passion. It is the constant need for novelty until the novelty wears off. Not sure where I am going with this, but just know you got this mate!! :)

@Oli Barrett - Bang on mate, true gems are always to be found OFF the beaten path, that's where the REAL soulful experiences of adventure happen!🗺 Those hyped-up, or well known touristy spots can often disappoint due to lacking authenticity, but that said some places are more varied than others in that regard as you'll know by now, eh?🏯 Immersing with those locals away from crowds is where the true magic happens of course, but that does require lots of facing fears with language barriers of course, a decent real-time language translation device can work wonders nowadays though, its fast improving that's for sure.. have you tried them out for size? 🪄 Can't wait for your next SE Asian road tale, Cheers!! 🍻 #TrueWanderer

Super inspiring, I am on a similar journey and can relate to the hardships! For every down there is an up and its not always about the end, but the experience in between that counts!
Well I've been to Hoi An's old town "tourist trap" as you mis-describe it both before and after Covid and both times it was great. The food was not overpriced or bad, nor did I feel "transacted"/scammed by the locals. It was a welcome break from the other place you once championed so much.
