  Us long-time Metalheads have only known them has leather jackets, cut-offs or vest due to some cutting off the sleeves of their Jean jackets (mostly). Battle jacket and battle vest has become a new name for them in the last decade that I know of. It's most likely new. Regardless of what you call them, do it Your way and there are NO rules. I would at least suggest that you know about the bands that you put on your jacket/vest. My honest suggestion.
