Thank you for your response. I appreciate that wholeheartedly. I’m a graduate as far back 2019 and have no connection with my medical school. Can I still use my medical school as the “organization “ in reference to a research as my experience?
It's best to use the name of the institute you were at when you did the research study or where the data was collected from. I don't see any major problem using the med school name especially if your mentor/senior author in your paper is also from your medical school. Good luck @michaelfaraday8391 for your ?
Thank you so much! This video has been very useful to me for filling out my ERAS application so far. I have a question I would like to ask, please. I did my MD in Biochemistry in India (2012-2015). During that time, I completed two studies-one for my thesis (a part of which I presented orally at a state conference) and a second short study, which I presented as a poster at a national conference and resulted in a publication in 2014. Can I mention the publication, oral presentation, and poster presentation in my ERAS CV under the respective sections? The study, presentations, and publication were requirements for my MD Biochemistry.
Here's my updated ERAS CV video for #Match2025 kzread.info/dash/bejne/oJ6k2rmindzedZM.html . Coming to your question, yes you can certainly include your oral, poster and publication under the appropriate 'Publications' section. Thank you @shwetavenkatesh for your ?
If we are a group of students who come together to publish an abstract, can that be a research experience? And if yes, how do i write my "position title" and the organization?
Here's my updated ERAS CV video guide for #Match2025 kzread.info/dash/bejne/oJ6k2rmindzedZM.html . Let's continue future conversation there. Coming to your question, there is no definite rule against including this as research experience, with position as ' research author' or 'lead investigator' as appropriate. Organization would be your medical school. Also be prepared to field questions in the residency interview about doing the research with limited or non-existent mentorship (if true to your case). Thanks @michaelfaraday8391 for your ?
if i have a recent experience as a clinical medical assistant can i include it as education or experience? thank you.
Pls refer to the updated ERAS CV video for #Match2025 that you can watch at kzread.info/dash/bejne/oJ6k2rmindzedZM.html . Clinical medical assistant position can be included as experience (not education). Thanks @michaelfaraday8391 for your ?
@@ed4medus thank you. What about an externship clinical medical assistant?
@@michaelfaraday8391 I am not sure what 'externship clinical medical assistant' is - here's what ERAS recommends: Experience Type: Education/training (includes clinical training such as clerkships, away rotations, subinternships, structured observerships). Military service. Professional organization (includes societies, associations, etc., at the local, regional, national, or international levels). Other extracurricular activity, club, hobby (includes sports, music, theater, student government, etc.). Research. Teaching/mentoring (includes paid teaching positions such as high school teacher as well as teaching assistant, tutor). Volunteer/service/advocacy (includes unpaid experiences). Work (includes paid clinical, nonclinical, business, or entrepreneurial experiences).
@@ed4medusthank you
Thank you for your response. After training as a medical assistant we’re required to get some clinical hours before our certificates can be released to us. It’s a kind of internship but they refer to it as externship. I don’t know if I can refer to it as internship or externship. Also I studied for a diploma in nursing and worked as an RN before going to the medical school even though it wasn’t a prerequisite for medical school admission. Can I talk about that as a premedical school education in that section of the application? Can I also talk about my work as an RN if it happened many years ago? Thank you.

ps is real game changer sir ?
A terrible PS containing PS bloopers (described in my personalstatement.thinkific.com course) can certainly turn your odds of an interview invite against you. Thanks @Carsal6116 for your ?
Hello thank you so much for the video do us professors accept working with international students? Thank you
Absolutely! Thanks @noway7918 for your ?

Great information Doc! As always.
Glad it was helpful @strongDr !
Hello sir, great video. All this is research work but what is the process for someone who don’t want to be involved in research and just practice as a clinician? And is an Indian.
If one doesn't want to take the EB-1 route, then employer sponsored EB-2 is an option - though waiting times for applicants from India is still very lengthy. Do check with your immigration attorney. EB-1A is a self-sponsored approach (and I also had approval of university-sponsored EB-1B) - for me, the effort was worth it. Thank you @neeldoshi25 for your ?
Thank you for the great talk. Is there a minimum number of publications and citations?
Unfortunately, no one knows. Also, it's the quality of the work (published in high impact factor journals) as I alluded in my video that matters more than the number of publications-citations. At best, you can use the info I shared to know the upper limit of publications-citations needed. Good luck and thanks @Muh.AlaaMoukhtarHammad for your ?
Want to know is rotation in different states or in city really affect for matching or getting interviews
If you are able to do so, then go for it but I do not believe that matters a huge deal. Good Luck and Thanks @milanpatel7283 for your ?
Heyaa! I came across your video, and I have to say it’s really good! Just wanted to mention that this isn’t a completely random comment. 😊 If you don’t mind, I noticed you’ve posted quite a few videos on your channel. You might consider following a healthy structure to improve your reach. If you’re interested, feel free to drop your email I’d love to chat about it over a free call!
What would be the ideal response then? Not just for PS, but also during the interview when they ask "why do you wanna come here?"
I have described this in detail in my interview prep course - here's a clip from this course kzread.info/dash/bejne/gGtop7R-h8W4mps.html . Thank you @srutarshighosh for your ?
Yeah, but nothing specific here about the home country experience though. Maybe it's in your course. Thanks for replying.

Worst interview yet
I am not sure @doodoodolly6641 why you feel this recording of a practice interview to be the 'worst interview'. I would like to share that this applicant successfully started residency training.
Hello sir I have cleared all steps of the MRCP UK exam and am waiting for an interview for a clinical fellow job. Will your course benefit me in any way for my interview, sir?

What is considered low step 1 score?
No one knows - It's subjective. Even more difficult to say as Step1 result is now pass/fail. IMO, I like to ask about a residency applican'ts USMLE score if its very close to the pass mark. I have discussed also at instagram.com/reel/CxjOvB1uKmk/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Thanks @MedManiac1 for your ?
Honestly a very great video ❤

Does working in Government Hospitals as Medical officer in Home country without residency ( almost 3 years out of medical college) count as gap ?
thanks Dr Agrawal !
Most welcome @Nisa-hu8uy ! Glad you found this video to be helpful.
for the hobbies section what to write for the date, organization?
Discussed at this point in the video kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6Krk8hyh9jOdNo.htmlsi=onwIoS6ehMEZf_as&t=887 Do your best to estimate the start date (say beginning of med school) to end date/present. Don't put too much thought on it as everyone knows its not perfect. Thanks @tamarajasim6205 for your ?
For research experience (which has also been the job for over a year), can you list all the study names you have been working on?
Yes, as much as the character limit allows. Thanks @Chirkli for your ?
how do you put timeline in hobbies?
Do your best to estimate the start date (say beginning of med school) to end date/present. Don't put too much thought on it as everyone knows its not perfect - Thanks @leepypaudel6308 for your ?
Thank you Dr Agarwal for your time in explaining the whole application process. I am waiting for the pdf in my email.

Excuse me sir, can i include a doaj indexed article in publication section? Thanks
Sorry I don't understand your concern. Can you elaborate why you think that's a problem. I can then guide you, Thanks @drnykterstein_
@@ed4medus Dear sir, I do not have a PMID for my doaj indexed article. Thats why the confusion.
The PMID is optional. So yes, go ahead enter the citation information on your article. Good Luck@@drnykterstein_ !

Thanks for putting together this helpful guide. I am watching it for the fifth time in two days as it contains a lot of information. I have one question: How many instances of experiences are generally expected? I have thought about putting around 5-7 key experiences in my application. Am I going to put myself at a disadvantage by not using the max number (10) of experience slots?
Not at all - you can only put the experiences you have had. Good Luck and Thanks @shizzakhan2638 for your ? 😊
Thank you so much Dr Agrawal for this truly informative video on ERAS CV. Very well explained and it clears all the queries. Much appreciate your efforts☺
Glad to see that you found this video valuable. Thanks @ManishThakur-yg1nk for your support!☺
Does observership come under education/training experience type?
Yes, this is what ERAS suggests. I may have said 'work experience' in my video (this is how it was categorized previously). Thanks @rathicrisparavichandran795 for your ? 😊
This is super helpful. Thank you so much for this!
Glad to see that you found this video valuable. Thanks @anshuldoctor5655 for your support!☺
Hey Dr. Agrawal. Thank you for all the tips and information. I have around 5 paid clinical experiences from my undergraduate career/gap years. Should I clump the related ones into one activity. For example, nurse extern and nurse aide clumped into one. And then my three nursing jobs into one, plus making this clumped activity a most meaningful for my nursing roles. Is it okay to include these clinical experiences from the distant past, or should I focus more on recent clinical activities completed as a medical student only.
I am assuming you are a RN MD. I recommend using your med student clinical activities in the ERAS experiences. If you still have 1 or 2 experiences left and nothing else to enter as ERAS experience, then yes, write about your nursing jobs. Thanks @jamesverner9224 for your ?
Really nicely explained!
Thank you so much. This is super informative. If I have a poster that has been selected for presentation at a conference can I still put it on my application with a future date?
Congratulations on your poster! If ERAS allows you to input a future date, yes, go for it! Thanks @sarahjahangir123 for your ?
Hi Dr Agarwal, I would like to add painting as my hobby.. should I write it in bullet points or in paragraphs? How many words would be a safe bet? I don't have any other hobby to include. TIA
Hi, I'm planning to add an LOR from my PD at my home country residency. What should be the ideal length of such letter, as it is coming from someone with whom I've worked for 3 years. Should it be longer like explaining everything in detail or stick to standard ones like under 1 page?
LORs are usually 1-1.5 page long. This should be adequate - lets also keep in mind that your letter writer has to put in their time and effort to write you a letter, so concise LORs work for everyone! Thanks @user-ls4qb6yz9y for your ?
I have an unpublished research(in the process of getting it published).. I'm gonna mention it under the publications section.. but should I also mention it as one of my 10 ERAS experiences? As I have no other research experience than this? Will it be counted as repeating the same information or not? The only reason I'd like to mention in under 10 experiences is to have some variety in the CV. What should I do? TIA.
Yes, absolutely you can. The citation is not going to give info on what, where, how this research experience was and so certainly you can have this as one of your 10 experiences. Thus, I dont see how this is going to be considered redundant. Thanks @user-ls4qb6yz9y for your ?
@@ed4medus thank you so much Sir for your input.

if i Graduated in 2018 what is my YOG??
Sorry, I don't understand the confusion here. The year on your degree certificate is your year of graduation. Thanks @mansbeast for your ?
just to confirm, so reading is not a hobby
There is no question that reading is a hobby. For ERAS CV purpose, it is not enough to state "I like to read". More details are needed such as "I like to read autobiographies and historical books. My favorite book is Obama's 'Promised Land'" Thanks @teddoyre1099 for your comment.
This is a timely and fantastic guide, thank you so so much, Dr. Agrawal. I wonder if could get the pdf

Thank you so much for an amazing video Dr. Agrawal! Can you please tell about how to write about the thesis/ research we do as a part of the residency curriculum in India? Thanks
Glad to see that you found my video valuable. Citing your thesis research under 'Other Articles' is the closest option. 'Scientific Monograph' may also work if you can provide a publication name, volume and issue number. Thanks @SaneSisters for your ?☺
Thank you so much. It seems very helpful.
