    I think compensating losses is a very wrong way of protection. Money would be better used in prevention, helping owners to buy and maintain dogs and fences to prevent this attacks and disuade wolves.

    If humans had it their way, there would be absolutely no animals apart from the the ones we raise to eat. We would tear entire ecosystems apart. Deciding that an entire species should not be in the habitat that we obliterated them from is dumb to say the least. Our convenience is going to be the end of this world. We need to learn to live WITH wildlife, not push them out because we fear them, or have to learn to deal with them.

  • @OdysseyOfDiscovery
    @OdysseyOfDiscovery9 күн бұрын

    You indeed are correct! Everything does not evolve around humans, therefore we shouldn't treat it that way. It is a mistake to execute an entire species out of fear when they play a major role in the food chain and maintaining wildlife.

    I would love to have both wolves and Grizzlies bears reintroduce into Cali. I often pass by areas like " Grizzly peak" or Wolf Creek, in California but we wiped out both species. Think about this for a moment. Native Americana lived in peace with both animals, but European invaders could not live with either. Californians are so liberal and woke, how can they not get behind this?

    You have a valid point, wolves do pose a threat to livestock which is a major problem for ranchers, but ranchers will receive compensation from their losses. It will cover some of their struggles. Another good thing to note is wolves are actually quite cowardly when they are well fed, a problem arises when they are hungry, or when you invade their territory.

  • @bigalsnow8199
    @bigalsnow819911 күн бұрын

    Not a valid point. How many times do you have to hear it? This ain't Europe. American wolves have NEVER posed a threat to humans. They were hunted and killed solely because of EUROPEAN FEAR OF EUROPEAN WOLVES! Native Americans enjoyed living among them without fear. The main threat to children has always been from 3 things. HUMAN ADULTS HUMAN TEENAGERS HUMAN CHILDREN

    The problem with wolves is not so much attack on humans, which happen rarely. The problem is wolves kill domestic animals in droves. Not just farm livestock but pets too, wolves slaughter horses, dogs etc. So the only place for wolves to live is far away from human settlements, in large, uninhibited forests, mountains, swamps.

    I think wolves are necessary and I deer hunt in northern Minnesota (Chippewa forest). wolves keep a balance to the ecosystem that I think many species here benefit from. long term idk if they help or hurt moose populations but I really hope to see the moose expand its range in Minnesota. we have had a pretty stable wolf population over the last couple decades and are the only state in the lower 48 that has held a contiguous viable population of gray wolves. it is tough because our northern deer population isn't very great currently but I think this has more to do with the winters we've been having than the wolves. wolf predation in conjunction with severe winters does seem to prolong the deer decline. this last winter was incredibly mild so I'm excited to see if any changes happen up north in the following couple seasons

    Take aways? The only downside is on ranchers who also happen to be the most whiney, complaining, and nasty individuals to anyone who isn't them or share their culture. Honestly, although I respect their profession, I have come to really not care what happens ranchers when it come to wolves. Every single little change sets them off no matter what. When people like Cody Roberts are out there, it's hard to take any of them seriously... In the end, I choose biodiversity to help curb the climate crisis over some random person's bottom line. We are out of time.

    Coyotes do not fear humans the way that wolves do. Coyotes kill many more domestic animals/pets than wolves do when considering non-livestock animals such as dogs and cats. Coyotes are in many major cities and are not afraid of humans at all in those environments. The animal that does keep the coyote in check is the wolf. We need wolves to be reintroduced to places in which they once roamed and over time things will improve. There is definitely going to be an adjustment period and ranchers and farmers do have legitimate concerns, but wolves are smart and if ranchers/farmers create ways to limit damages by wolves, wolves will learn not to venture too close to farms and ranches rather quickly. There will always be exceptions but we have many incidents occurring with coyotes already. Also, we have so many coyotes, that now some of them are mating with wolves and creating coy wolves, which are more powerful than a coyote and lacks the fear of humans that a wolf has. They are the worst of both animals. If wolves were plentiful, this wouldn't be happening the way that it has happened. It's funny how so many Americans still don't have a clue as to how things were in the past in America.

    Wolves do not have natural fear of humans. I don't know where did you hear that. They fear humans if massively hunted/killed by humans, but otherwise no. Another person who believes this myth. There's a reason why large flock guard dogs like Kangals have those HUGE metal spiked collars around their necks. They are no match for a wolf, let alone a pack of wolves. Dogs are effective because they make noise, and are visual deterrents because wolves and other large predators, associate dogs with humans. Humans are the real threat to wolves and other large predators. Without the threat of humans, wolves have absolutely no fear of dogs.

    Wolves aren't threats when they're well fed. In fact, they are quite cowardly around humans. But they become fierce once they're hungry, feel threatened, or if you're an intruder who trespassed through their territory. As for bears, they will attack you if they see you as a threat to their offspring. Be sure to stay safe when hiking, and I'd suggest you don't travel alone.

    Wolves do not attack people. Almost never. Not a single confirmed death from a wolf attack ever. The confirmed attacks were dumb situations like a lady who hit one and thought it was a dog and went up to it as it was injured. You have absolutely nothing to fear with wolves. You're statistically more likely to die from a lightning strike. Bears? Yeah be afraid. I live in an area where we have to sign waivers that bears may harm your children on school outings and you don't ever go hiking without bear protection. Moose, also scary. Coyotes are a danger to your pets. But rest easy on the wolf front.

I know this because I was in the fox trial game in the 90s and they were paying 100$ per coyote to run in the trials. the lack of wolfs had nothing to do with it. Facts. coyotes east of the Mississippi are the results of humans. this is all bull crap they want you to believe so you will accept another apex predator in your backyard. just like in Tennessee in the they said we are having coyotes so we need to let thousands of timber rattlers go to get in dens to eat pups, well when that didn't work, they said ok well now we have infested mount eagle with rattlesnakes, lets turn a bunch of Red wolfs go( because red wolfs were here once( when there were no coyotes) so they will control the coyotes. guess what?? it didn't work now we have Coy dogs everywhere. just a bigger more deadly coyote! iits all about control. control the food control the people.
