Easy answer is no it's not worth it.
I moved to Austin back in 2010 and have seen this city change to dirty 6th while living uptown working in the Domain now at Baton Creek spa and Resort
Great video, but surprised you didn’t mention the Stacy parks, they’re the gem of Travis Heights.
Don't move to Austin it's full and well beyond the quota of self-absorbed, entitled pricks that can't grasp the fact that they've moved to someone else's home still flocking here in droves. If whatever liberal hellhole you live in is so awesome, then stay there.
Fire your video editor. This was rough with the random insert b-roll that had nothing to do with what you are talking about.
Just like Cali now
How so?
Don't encourage people to move here, as a native I see the housing shortage causing property owners to have a captive audience, and raise rent rates beyond affordable. All because of videos like this and media hyping up moving here the folks moving here ruin what brought them to the city. This includes trying to rezone historic districts to allow STRs rented out as airbnbs against the character of the neighborhood
Thanks for watching! Since it’s my career, I take a lot of pride in informing people who are interested in Austin about the good and the bad. Saying my videos hype up a move to the area or contribute to any negatives related to Austin is quite a stretch. My hometown of San Antonio has also changed over the years, as do most cities. I’m sorry that’s your experience with Austin. Austin is not in a housing shortage. In fact, we have a 13-year supply high. It’s a great time for buyers. On the topic of rental rates, let’s take inflation as a simple example. Property owners are paying significantly more for insurance, ongoing property maintenance, property taxes (historical increases), and a variety of other factors, all contributing to rental rates. In good news for renters, there is an oversupply of multi-family housing. Recent rezoning in parts of Austin was to increase density in order to allow for more homes to be built on a single lot with the goal of creating more affordability near the city core. Will it work? We will see…
Austone is not the live music capital of the world. Its definitely Nashville.
Thanks for tuning in! Austin’s long-time slogan has been the “Live Music Capital of the World,” which now seems to be in the form of festivals and some of the smaller venues / long-time staples.
The north and south have a lot more traffic congestion and lower prices. The west has higher prices with less traffic. I guess that’s why you pay more money in those locations.
Great video with a lot of information, thanks for sharing!
Really appreciate that and thank you for watching!
Best video ever 🎉❤
Thank you so much! 😁
Is there a dance spot in the area?
Hi Margot! There used to be a little spot, but it closed and nothing has replaced it. Hopefully, we will get something along these lines with the growth that’s in the works.
@@MovingATX yes that would be nice!
Austin is not safe, North or South doesn’t matter anymore. I would never raise a family in Austin. All my relatives and friends living in Austin are leaving.
How is it not safe?
I'm curious as well...
Hi Charlene - thank you for watching. I'm curious, where are your friends and family moving? Every city has parts of town that may not be the safest, but Austin and the surrounding metro have many nice, safe areas as the norm. I'm sorry you had a different experience. North & South Austin still differ quite a bit and continue to be a big topic of conversation on my end, especially amongst potential homebuyers and people relocating to the area.
Do you know of anywhere to go dancing? That’s the only thing I haven’t found yet 😢
You should NEVER move to Austin
Hello Rhonda! What makes you say that?
Hi, do you handle finding home rentals also? My son is going to relocate to Austin and will be needing to rent first. He wants to have time to get to know the different areas and where they would like to end up buying eventually.
Thank you for reaching out, Fabiana! We would love to learn more about his search and assist. Would you send a quick message to us at [email protected] or a text to 512-337-4537 so we may connect with you?
There's really no point in any of the other "benefits" if you can't do anything outside in Austin from May - October because of the heat
How about the ones that involve water? 😉
I've spent about a month in each, and Austin is more fun. The food is DEFINITELY better in Austin area! But I like the slower vibe of Raleigh area. People seem less in a hurry.
This is a great summary! It's a nice change of scenery to have that slower pace, but to your point, it's hard not to miss the food and entertainment pieces.
Great job, but Austin is so much better and nicer than Raleigh. I spent time on both cities
Thank you, Mike! Completely agree with you 😁
It was a tough decision.
Thank you for watching! Is it safe to assume you chose Houston?
Austin has horrible traffic patterns and, subsequently, horrible traffic experiences. "Live near work" is the best advice. Next, learn Lamar Blvd. This is a major 'retail artery' and runs from far north Austin to south Austin, crossing Austin's major east-west streets. Also, "North Austin" and "South Austin" require substantial drive-time to traverse. "Austin" and "North Austin" are often used interchangeably. "South Austin" only has one meaning - if someone says, "I live in Austin", there are likely living north of the river (ie, North Austin). In the past 10 years or so, "Southwest Austin" has been used to distinguish between "South Austin" from the Southwest/Oak Hill/Dripping Springs area. Zip codes are a useful 'cheat-sheet' to determine regions or neighborhoods in Austin. Living 'downtown' is a good location IF you can't live near work because all traffic patterns flow into Downtown during rush-hours (6am-10am; and 2-7pm). Downtown residences enjoy a surprisingly quiet day-light existence, with traffic, weekend and holiday 'noise' consuming evening hours. If you can't live near work, hopefully Work is near one of the major traffic arteries and you can live near that street (or highway). Near Lamar Blvd, for example; near MoPac. Near "183" - a highway. There is NO RELIEF for traffic issues. Austin has so many mis-located off- and on-ramps, always a large number of choke-points AND WORSE, they change street names 'mid-stream'... you only discover that thru experience. Or a friend to help.
Thank you for this detailed breakdown, Jeff! Certainly a ton of nuances to the Austin traffic patterns and the various locations. Thankfully, we're fortunate to have many other redeeming qualities throughout the city. 😁
Hi there, An amazing channel for those who care about health and want to stay healthy. But even if your content is quality, your channel doesn't have enough views and subscribers. I analyzed and found that your channel's videos are not properly SEO, and there are some other issues. If you allow, I will be happy to discuss this matter with you. Thank you.
This is the city, Los Angeles California. A city of trees and dog poop. Many people come here to find reasons to pick up feces and then go home and make sandwiches. Some people see you act cordial then disappear into the world to play games from afar. Those people are old and gray not worth talking too. Some appear and disappear as if. Several of these people stink. Many are young and disgusting too. This is where I come in. My name is Friday I carry a badge, my partner Bill Gannon waits in the car licking the cats butt. It was a cold foggy day on Figeuora and seven. We had just gotten a call about a really smelly stinky female named Kimberly Ford Hadley Ole Copple. This female was last seen eating some poop she had networked off the boat toilet. Natalie dodd herbert tinnon Whitten had married this switch for reasons of matrimonial gain from afar. Bill and I were seated at the cafeteria table discussing the cats butts leftover from the night before. I told Bill, Look you better stop eating this crap. The toilet stinks, theres prints on the coffee cup too. If they hear about this in Stir you will be screwed. He didnt like the word at all. He was a stir-stick man from old school days. The facts Maam, thats all. I saw this filch Ford woman with shyt stains on herself. Where was this woman maam, just the facts, I brought my own fork. She invited me in and offered pie. I told Bill to wait in the car, no butts around here. As I took a bite she told me about games being played where certain people decide that your sex life is finished. This particular group of people unknown to me never existed.. She said that Louisville Male high was a real problem in that ARENA. 13b10 19e10 11b Vietman era training.

Th Beatles… or tree roaches! They keep me married lol.
lol that definitely counts!
The allergies are a b_£_tc h though.
Don’t need car u live n Austin. I’m a little outside of downtown. Don’t Need a car, I’m 15 min from airport so I take shuttle.
Noooo don’t live outside of Austin. It’s just not …. You’re basically just desperate to live in a house with your family. I get it but it’s not Austin it’s a bunch of cows and churches.
Oh yeah and then, Joe Rogan I mean, how can you hate someone who brought a bunch of comedians to live here. Better than being branded the live music capital which is kinda not true, right because yeah, a lot of musicians live here, but it’s not all kinds of music, but you will, be able to join any band and hang out with people that are much better than you because there’s a general attitude of friendliness it’s not like LA where everyone’s competing to make it. A lot of retired musicians live here and it’s just easy. But I think having a bunch of comedians living here, even made it better.
I wouldn’t live outside of Austin, but when you live inside it, it’s still a great place. I’m within walking distance of clubs, where I see Jimmy Vaughan, and a whole host of other great players for nothing small clubs. I never stand at a giant audience and I never will again. Also, I can go biking around the lake running I’m right near any kind of convenience I would need the quality life is so good and people are generally really friendly. It’s just a chill fun place to be. I like this KZread channel I subscribed it’s cool that she’s doing reasons not to but like her I wouldn’t live any other place right now. It’s pretty fun.
Thank you for watching and for your feedback! It's great to hear all of the different experiences. Austin has a ton to offer!
Crazy Austin is a biotech center, but UT doesn’t offer an undergrad biotech degree my son had to go to A&M to get one WTH UT Really
That is very surprising! Appreciate you tuning into the channel and thank you for this info.
Some weirdo comments on this video below. 😂Disregarding that. Thanks for this video ma’am 🙏🏾
😂 It’s so odd what people say to each other sometimes! Thanks so much for watching, and I really appreciate the feedback 🙌
Thanks dear which city is the best for education? High school and university
You're very welcome! Each city offers a variety of top options in terms of education, both private and public. I've noticed these tend to be geared towards specific programs, mainly at the university level, so be sure to look into those details more in depth. You have UT Austin, which is top-ranked, Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Rice University (Houston), Trinity University (San Antonio), and of course the other University of Texas schools in Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. From a high school standpoint, Eanes ISD is located in Austin and is one of the top districts in the nation.
Great summary of Downtown Austin. Thanks.
Thank you very much, Jonathan!
Great video! Moving to Fort Worth in a month. Would love to see a video about Fort Worth or DFW as a whole!
Thank you, Rafael! Fort Worth is a fantastic city. Are you moving from another state or elsewhere in TX?
Taxes are higher and HOA’s depending on what subdivision you live in. All the highly manicured easements come at a cost. I love driving through. We selected a home in Briarcliff Village, with custom homes, competitive prices and less crowded streets. It better fit our lifestyle with the lower taxes. We do shop in and enjoy Lakeway stores and restaurants. That, along with Baylor Scott & White medical center make Lakeway a great community.
Thank you, Ken! Briarcliff is a great spot. I'm sure you're enjoying yourselves. When we're on the water, I like to dock over at the marina and grab a bite to eat at The Lighthouse.
