Sadly, there is no good version of Now & Then. The normal Streaming version is too much, the Atmos mix is better but lacks prescence in the chorus and the 7 inch vinyl sounds too muffled. Still like the song tho.

I grew up with the original Capitol 1967 mono. When I finally heard a stereo copy years later I was surprised how flimsy it sounded. Sgt Pepper reprise mono has so much more muscle. Giles did a pretty good job. His stereo feels very mono inspired.

I got the Capitol box sets, and i'm just happy to have them. My volume 2 has the fold down mono mixes and i kinda like them. They're unique. I think that's how some of the albums were released back in the 60's. And show how badly Capitol has continually handled the Beatle catalog in thr last 60+ years. Great video.

Why don't you say one more time how it's not your cup of tea. That to me sounds like a really nice, really diplomatic way of saying "I fucking hate it." But then you like listening to it becuase of the sound quality... even though you fucking hate the music? Wow. I don't get that at all. I listen to music because I love the music. If I don''t like the music, I could be there in the recording studio between all the instruments hearing it in pristine 3D and I'd still hate it. Obviously, with music I love, the better the sound quality, the greater the experience, but you can't always have that as much as you'd like. BTW, absolutely brilliant album. Sorry you missed the boat on it... but enjoy that sound quality????

you seem like a fun guy. excellent vocabulary and aware of what you like. perhaps you missed the part where i was selling this album on my old website from 4 years ago (now no longer active). so i was trying to paint the picture of how it sounded great, but it's not my kind of music so don't take my word on that aspect of it. but if you feel the need to bring me down because of a few honest words, then by all means carry on.

Hey Brain - I agree with your takes here. This album has always been mediocre to me. It's got some really solid songs, but it feels like it's a bunch of filler that John slapped together to sell more units without workshopping them into fully realized songs. That's what was so magical about the Beatles, especially in their prime - they feel workshopped into a fully fleshed out realized song. This album's overall vibe, at least to me, is rushed and almost demo material put on an LP. To call it a masterpiece is a stretch. Thanks for your videos.

You're MMT EP is deffo the 1981 EP box repress as it has the black inners and yellow lyrics and looks just like my '81 copy. The orginal pressings had whilte "fluted" inners and blue lyric sheets... although the 1969 and 1973 lyric sheets were yellow. Great EP boxset Brian!

One thing I corrected for my copy of this box set was to replace the stereo MMT with an original UK Mono MMT EP set. It had always bugged me that they had included the stereo MMT only, as all the other EPs were mono. The later CD version of the box set did include the MMT mono mixes. Many of these EPs sound great and the Long Tall Sally EP has unique mono mixes which is a real treat! Always wished they’d done 12” EPs as the Stones EPs had been issued in the 1980s.

I bought this on day of release in the UK (£21.49 in HMV - still have the price sticker). The Magical Mystery Tour EP you have there is the same as mine. This EP was initially released without the yellow Parlophone and I don't believe it's ever been released with it. I have a first press mono and stereo and they're both Silver Parlophone.

A friend gifted this to me many years ago and I couldn't have been happier!!! EPs have always been one of my favourite formats due to their versatility!!! Over the years they have taken the role of "Greatest Hits", short studio albums, mini live albums, housing tracks that do not belong anywhere else, cover versions packages, US singles not released in the UK exclusives, mini soundtracks, tributes to other artists and maybe for more uses I can't recall right now!!! Maybe we should also give Ringo some credit for rejuvenating the format (albeit pricely), but it seems that EPs are here to stay!!! Hooray!!!!!

Nice video but I must say that unless you are a completest that needs everything there really is no reason to "need" both versions of volume 2, you only need the corrected version. As far as liking/disliking either the Capital boxes or the UP Albums box, I have both and I love the CDs but hate the packaging of the Capitol boxes. I love the packaging of the US Albums box but while they sound nice, I was a bit disappointed that they weren't the actual Capital masters.

I love this album, but the original mix did it no favors. This remix is so nice, it gives me a new appreciation for Meat City and Tight A$ with John's amazing vocals up front instead of buried.

I hadn’t seen your videos before, but this popped in my queue and since I’m supposed to be receiving this double LP in the mail today I thought I’d get a sneak peek. I appreciate the no nonsense assessments. Agree the hype of the music is misplaced. This album deserves a sonic upgrade but it’s still his fourth best solo work despite the title track being one of the best songs he ever wrote. Changing settings on the control board isn’t going to change that.

The downside to the bootleg is wildlife fades in and hi hi hi is messed up. Anyway with the bootleg you get more chatter of the band in between tracks. The one you have their I bought the day it came out and I like it alot except for the reasons you have already explained.

7:08 CMoon "medley" segueway = McCartney took a shine to medley construction on *Abbey Road* (as Lennon did not). Medleys were a throwback to music hall, a bit MOR. PM explored the medley form in 'Band On the Run' & 'Live & Let Die' the year before *One Hand Clapping* . I suppose when yr as prolific as Paul McCartney, medleys are a fast way to keep up with yr own output of tunes. I got the 2CD edition 3 weeks ago because the deal was good= £17.84 total. Sounds sharp not muffled. I liked *One Hand Clapping* straightaway, although I don;t know how much yet: not played enough. I'm simultaneously playing my old vinyl on the new turntable. And 12" vinyls keep coming - - today, from 1983: English band Fiction Factory single 'Feels Like Heaven.' Gorgeous. First impression of *One Hand Clapping* , I wondered why MPL took all these decades to release these sessions when they're so good. It's not as if MPL are scraping the barrel here. Looking forward to the day you can review *RUBBER SOUL* Superdeluxe - - whenever thehell that is. I'm still annoyed that were it not for the Red/Blue release, we would have heard *RUBBER SOUL* , outtakes & all, book & all, last year.

I've heard some songs pre-release. For instance my favorite on the album, 'I'm Sorry (Aisumaisan). The sound was so radical different, that I immediately bought a now rare copy of the 2010 remaster on CD. To make sure I own a version on CD that is like the original version on LP I grew up with. Some songs are better now, however. But Freda People (Bring On the Lucie), I'm Sorry and Meat City are so altered and I prefer the earlier versions. There are even some doubts about 'Mind Games', which is the most prominent song. The same goes for the 2023 remix of I'm The Walrus. Luckely, I'm getting more used to it, so maybe it's the case with this songs aswell. Anyway, thanks alot for your insightful video. ~Marjet

Other youtubers got free box sets from the Lennon estate and can‘t stop praising it, even the foolish or at least childish hidden things. I think they should have returned them and bought them by themselves, So thanks again! - In the 70s when I began collecting records (we didn’t say vinyl then) nearly every LP was flat and quiet. Mind Games was the first album I bought, it has strong songs always did, it was labelled wrongly after the negative political adventure ? I have now listened to the new mixes and many agree it’s a step up in do too and i loved it in 73. Interesting review, how have you missed out of the blue ? I could argue that at least 5 of the songs would fit on any Lennon Album and actually Beatles ? Especially Let it be, but that could be said of the other Beatles too I am loving this Mind Games adventure ! Lennon told George Martin he wanted to record many Beatles tracks, I think Sean in a way is trying to give us 2024 John but in respect ? I could be wrong ? The creative repackage is such fun, the maps treasure hunts hidden tracks post cards etc ? I dunno I think it’s a triumph Take care
