If you take questions, I was diagnosed with AIH three years ago. At that time, I was also diagnosed with Stage IV secondary Cirrhosis of the Liver. I thought I was looking at end-stage Liver disease. It’s been three years, so I asked my Dr about it, and what my prognosis was. He said that having stage IV Cirhosis is not same as in Cancer, so I shouldn’t worry. But your chart doesn’t show anything beyond Stage IV. I need more clarification.

All mine was normal and my GGT is 13. I am told all of these can be normal and still have liver disease?? Why take the test then?

Thank you for the video, but you missed what I would consider the most important factor a person with AIH can do to control or even maybe reverse it. Which is to have a balanced intestinal microbiome. I'm talking from personal experience. The year I was diagnosed with AIH, I took several rounds of antibiotics, (I'll spare you the reasons), my gut flora was decimated, and I developed SIBO, and SIFO. and also AIH !!!! Finally now I understand what happened to me, and how I might be able to do something to help myself. With a guidance of a functional medicine doctor. I'm willing to try because I know taking immunosuppressants for the rest of my life will eventually be my demise.

Was diagnosed with AIH in 2002 and in 2013 I went on a gluten free diet and was able to get of steroids and immune suppressants since. Regular checkups and biopsies showed negative disease activity. 2 years ago I started slacking and ate more gluten, my LFTs went back up again to 180, when I resumed to eat gluten free they went down in a period of 5 months back to normal. For me this appears to be a trigger, however celiac test showed I was negative for celiacs disease.

Hi, can I ask you a few questions? I just got diagnosed with AIH.
I was dx at 36 yrs old with AIH with cirrhosis I have been treated with Azothiaprine for 25 yrs asked to get off of it because I have had 47 squameous cell skin cancers removed. Was put on Budesonide 9mg daily. Recently went to Dr was refused to be seen because of ins change 24 days ago I stopped meds 50 lbs weight gain and now no Dr I just gave up .I am now 64 yrs old .

I didn’t know there was an Autoimmune Hepatitis Association! I was diagnosed last year thru a liver biopsy that was done while they went in to remove my gallbladder and unfortunately I already have advanced cirrhosis. Honestly I didn’t even know there were any treatment options. I also have ITP and Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, which is terminal. I worry for my twin...they are closely monitoring her but she has the opposite issue with clotting that I do...she has overproduction of platelets and has to take blood thinners to prevent clots. We joke that something must have gotten mixed up in the womb.
Wonder if this common with twins. Since i am twin and have this disease. Also unfortunately i am male wouldn't get much help and have not been so much research about it.
