  Too bad Shenmue 3 sucked. PS barely backed it & then had the audacity to say "PS fans have been waiting for this". Everyone BUT Sony fans were waiting for this. Shenmue 3 needed a medium sized budget to be successful. I can only imagine what it could've been had it been backed properly. Now the series is officially dead. Thanks Sony, idiots. Now I'll keep wondering what could've been had Shenmue 3 been at the front of cutting edge graphics & story telling without being handicapped.

  The ONLY thing about this that bums me out, despite all the absolutely insane, hype reactions (rightfully so, especially given how amazing ReMake/Rebirth have turned out, both amazing) is that “World of Final Fantasy” was basically relegated to a preamble “placeholder joke” announcement. That game is absolutely INCREDIBLE, and one of the most charming games, made from passion for Final Fantasy, I’ve ever seen. Shame…it’d likely even be in the argument for top 5 Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts games, next to 7, 6, 10, 9, and 8, but better than most KH games (I enjoy them btw, but. O comparison.) It’s just good/charming, and didn’t deserve to be part of an understandable but cruel/lame punchline setup.

  part 3 wont take that long. most of the assets are there, such as the character models, animations. most of the world is done. combat is done, vehicles done. they will probably tweak combat. Most of the work to be done will be cinematic scenes. new areas such as under the sea and northern creator will require a lot of new effects and creatures. the voice actors and such will be working too. but there is no transition to a new console this time. pretty sure it'll be less than 2 years. most development time is taken is planning and building the systems and testing it, such as the combat and the interface for example. they'll probably tweak it but they're not making it from scratch. they also had to build their in house tools to work on unreal engine 4 but they dont need to do that either.

  @@ronaldflint1741it'll be out before that :) feel free to "told you so" in 3 years.but square enix do not care about anniversaries unless it makes them money. the average consumer isnt going to care. the longer they delay the game, for no reason? a date because it sounds good to you? the less money they make the less time they are spending making another game. the devs say in the interviews they want to move on to the next project already.

  This was probably the greatest 1-2 punch in E3 history. FFVII had a rabid fandom surrounding rumors of it being remade for going on a decade at this point. Shenmue III, while not NEARLY close to the same level of popularity, ALSO had a rabid fandom that had all but given up hope at that point that Yu Suzuki’s sweeping epic would ever be completed. Getting just ONE of these announcements in an E3 press conference would’ve been enough to shoot it to legendary status, let alone both. Add in a healthy little sprinkling of The Last Guardian still being alive and coming to PS4 and you have one of the WILDEST E3 conferences EVER.
