    Is Wado ryu karate similar to shorin ryu karate or is it a copy of peaceful warrior karate.

  • @ShihanMason
    @ShihanMason8 ай бұрын

    Similar in the sense that both use a shorter stance than Shotokan. Wado has much more emphasis on speed and side stepping footwork for sparring, and on sweeping techniques. Wado Ryu literally means "Peace Way School".

    great wado as it was before . now the UK wado ryu is nothing to be desired , courses given to the naive students are fake and dangerous in that ,it teaches techniques that can kill you in a defence of one self . like sensei vickerman and the derelict dojos they run just to petty penny grabbing . . THERE IS ONE ASSOCIATION AND THAT IS THE WADO ACADEMY RUN BY THE OLD MAN SHOIMITSU . more geared towards basics and recruiting children because wado ryu was damaged by many senseis who cannot teach .

    wado ryu in UK HAS GONE .any courses offered are flawed nothing to do with karate as the masters taught a long time ago . l have seing some training under sensei vickerman in the midland , nothing to be desired . dangerous techniques and do not work . no Dojo ETIQUETTE , pls send a japanese sensei to england .

  • @St-lan

    RIP sensei wado ryu in the UK has vanished , no japanese sensei is practicing in the UK ,SINCE SENSEI toru DIED , MOST existing dojos are of lower standards , course offered are sub standard techniques not related to karate at all . richard the very obese black belt from the midland cannot even move to save himself ,yet a black belt . all the clubs are money collectors and have no desire nor pocess the wado ryu skill to teach anybody . sensei vickerman so called course was as useless as his Black Dans.

    wado ryu in the UK IS FINISHED BY FAR . With sensei vickerman courses , correct techniques are none existent , what a waste of time ... after so many courses . the UK wado in whole is derelict to say the least .please don't let people take your training fees for teaching u nothing. country boys from the estates like the sensei.s Dojo given black belts ,a very fat unhealthy man within that club cannot even do a maegeri never competed . concept and DOJO etiquette a thing of the past in many dojos in the UK and for him .

    Total misinterpretation of Biu Jee 3-budja hands, wrong application all together !!!! Sad. This perhaps is the most misinterpreted version, and worse of all, Moy's Lineage already had spreaded globally, imagine how many people had brain-deadly subscribed to these teaching.

    A self-respecting martial artist does not go around spreading misinformation about grand masters such as Moy Yat without truly understanding their intent and learning why they interpreted a form in one way or another. Calling other martial artists brain-dead? Did your Sifu not teach you respect and humility? Shame on you.

    @@skatewizard1426 Leung Shang and Lok Yui received totally different teaching from Yip Man, after that, Yip Man rarely serious taught one on on, including his son's. WSL would have had the chance to learn a "deeper, more cultured" version of wc, however, due to his early enterprising spirit and overconfidence, he opened his own school way too soon, in consequent, he deprived himself of the chance. FYI, Lueng Shang, Lok Yui and later Ho Kam Ming, had all learned but stuck around as assistances to Yip Man for atleast 4+ yrs before they sought permissions to open their own school. That explained the significant differences. I m soon to be 70 yrs old, have had the pleasure of tutelage of these masters , plus, the pleasure of attending banquets 4 times where Yip Man himself was the guest of honor !!

    @@ronfroger1578 Not sure. I just recognize a lot of the moves, though some are modified. From Jesse Enkamp's videos, I believe that Shotokan has abstracted away the non-striking so that they are not immediately recognizable in the katas. They require research to determine the original intent, which include non-striking. Alternatively, one can synthesize new interpretations that include non-striking. I prefer the former, where they can be found (on KZread). But you need a partner to exercise those interpretations.
