Get the facts right. Nasa engineers were mostly Nazis recruited by the U.S. after WW2. It was headed by Wernher Von Braun and his German engineers. Their ingenuity sent us to the moon, not the Americans. Margaret Hamilton was not the only programmer that worked on the Apollo 11s' computer system. There was another pioneer who wrote a large portion of code. His name is Don Eyles.

I was with Dave Cutlers group in Washington as one of the MicroVAX 1 hardware engineers. Right around when the Rainbow came out Bill Johnson came out to explain the rational of making the Dec's PC incompatible with the IBM PC. He said they wanted to limit volume to existing customers and thought it more as part of the terminal market. He admitted that they were worried about PCs but DECs business was based on high margin hardware. He said they could not grow the company to compete on such a low margin product. Competing in the PC market would really hurt their hardware margin. So one of the teams was so discouraged after that meeting that he ran off to help start Iris Associates (Lotus notes). The rest of us stuck with DEC for awhile until they killed off are RISC processors and the Mica OS, so the core of that group ran off to start Windows NT.

so the voice of Stephen Hawking? Sounds so much like his digitized voice. 1984.. I MISS THAT YEAR! Steve sure had fun here didn't he. I had a Mac SE 1998 that I bought with a bunch of other PC's and parts in a salvation army auction. I knew NOTHING about these computers. I couldn't figure out what it was suppose to do as for one the operating system was screwed up. I drove a long way to a shop that dealt with Mac and paid to have an operating system installed. Didn't do much good. The 2 disks that came with it didn't seem to do anything. I gave up and traded it for an IBM XT. Little did I know what I had. The Mac had a static band that came with it and the tool to open it. It wasn't very heavy but it wasn't that light either. I wish I would've hung on to it long enough to understand it more. Either way Steve was definitely a visionary.

man... if i was in charge of this, i would have stopped and been like. "we can calculate faster by hand.. what the heck is the purpose of this!?" This amazes me how some people just refuse to do things the easy way in order to achieve a vision that no one else has.

You charged me 100% Tax for selling unwanted VMWare shares towards the property where you traped me in lonely for 3 years? *I still waiting for closure!?

Imagine having that cool scientist uncle working at Xerox having an Alto prototype around 1972 in his attic. Then two years later a home computer kit with switches and LEDs but without video, keyboard and storage appears - and the only language is a DEC-BASIC rip-off sold on punch tape 😂…

I think a private blockchain system would work great on Token Ring because you would need to pass and authenticate and confirm every piece of that data through a group of machines, one at a time.

While there’s no doubt about Scott’s role in the iPhone later on, in the beginning he wasn’t that involved and it wasn’t Steve Jobs idea. Scott omitted these facts and focused on Steve. iPhone was Hullot’s ideas and Steve was AGAINST it. Hullot had to convince him to do the iPhone. Later on he pitted Scott’s Mac team against Tony’s iPod team to build the software and Scott’s Mac team did a better job. Some of these parts he probably can’t say for legal reasons.
