Oakland Museum of California (OMCA)

We are more than a museum. We are a museum, garden, and gathering place in the heart of
Oakland. People of all ages and backgrounds show up at OMCA, year-round and week after week, to
take part in the Oakland community and find connections through California art, history, and natural
sciences.

We are open Wed-Sun, 11-5 pm. For tickets: bit.ly/3oBAe7y

    Rachel McCrafty was such a brilliant Artist, and her art was always about giving back, connecting people and making their lives better. She will be missed for a long, long time. <3

    One of my mother's favorite books. As children, my sisters and I did our best to copy some of the designs, the outcomes were hilarious.

    I miss seeing the Black Panthers. I'm sick of the uneducated racist, fascists far right who will support a lunatic because of who's telling everyone what he's planning to do with anyone who he's got a problem with. I will pack my bags and move out of this country if the people who are responsible

    Interesting... I just noticed OMCA had these on their page and there is no reference to Aide Rodríguez, nor myself, Isaías Rodríguez, the two people responsible for shooting, producing, editing, and capturing this entire series. Hope that can change. Sorry it took all these years to follow up, I've been a little busy making art and traveling. Please, update this description to credit the correct people who were responsible for making this all happen. Thank you.

    OMG! Just saw this video at Oaklands Museum of California! The entire exhibit is informative, and let’s you get a better/in-depth sense of how events played out. I was in elementary school at the time of her erroneously being charged with three capitol crimes! I had no idea, of the global support she garnered. The video is thorough, in that it shows her being completely her intellectual, compassionate, progressive self. She’s truly an inspiration for others who are trying to change the world’s systems, and making every space, a better place for each, and every one of us! ✊🏾

    I was just talking about the trees with my coworkers today. Steve was my boyfriend back in high school, totally adored him, and still do. He looks and sounds exactly the same😁. His wife (Marie Antoinette) is just as much of a scholar/botanist/scientist, and they both have discovered so much about these old true to life Treebeards over the past 30 years. Trees have feelings, they communicate, and there’s a reason many of us feel a connection between trees as well as the plants in our garden. Steve has always been a hard working and good person, and I’m so happy that he not only became the rock star he was meant to be, but also found his fellow rock star partner with Marie. ❤️

    RIP and blessings to you and your followers, dear Leonard. I find irony in your mountain, contrasting Hal David's song in a beautifully simple message: What the world needs now, is love, sweet love... It's the only thing that there's just too little of. Lord, we don’t need another mountain, There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb.

    The way she lays out the fact that art IS NOT an aside to the struggle/movements, but is in fact, a very necessary part! Too many times in life/life’s systems, those who thrive with only the utterance of words, fail to understand the power/necessity of art, in every form, in its ability to reach, and sustain masses!

    It’s not right that they push the vaccine + booster on people and children on their site, especially with all the people dropping dead from them already and the cdc already saying on their site that they are in fact causing major problems, but I guess that’s liberal SF Bay Area for ya, blind leading the blind smh

    Has anyone done a documentary about the logging? I am not pro or against it, I am just interested after they log an area what efforts are done to replant it and how long it takes for the forest to recover

  • @mazmurlo3737
    @mazmurlo3737 Жыл бұрын

    In a human time frame it is impossible for old growth redwoods to recover. It takes over 200 years for an old growth tree to grow, and when we clear out a whole area we have to very carefully manage it to get any old growth return at all.

  • @jandunn169
    @jandunn169 Жыл бұрын

    I believe that part of the reason for all the recent fires in California is past logging as these forests contain mosses etc that hold in the moisture. The canopies do too. It would take hundreds of years and would never be the same as the old growth forests which are a national treasure.
