    It’s a standard short-bell 5 chime design. The Star Brass 5 chime whistle can trace its design to that whistle.

    Who killed the railway audio sounds? Some twit with VERY LOUD orchestral music - that had no place in here. What a waste of a promotional video chance. You killed my desire to watch it with THAT crappy music.

    It was great watching the steam tram. One query- It looked like there were 2 track gauges. Could you please tell me what they are, and if practicable, which cities that would have used them?

  • @paulfharris175
    @paulfharris1755 жыл бұрын

    Mervyn Partin yes U r correct there r 2 track gauges at MOTAT Main one being 4'8 1/2" & the other being 4" most NZ Cities used the 4' 8 1/2" except Wellington which was 4' Dunedin being the Scotland of the south they were so tight there track gauge was 4' 8" they couldn't afford the extra 1/2" Gisborne was 4' Gauge Wanganui/New Plymouth 4' 8 1/2" Napier was the same as NZ Rail being 3' 6" Christchurch 4' 8 1/2" Lastly Invercargill was 4'8 1/2" I hope this help as I was told with Wellington being 4' was because they were so narrow minded - Ref. Always A Tram In Sight By Graham Stewart

  • @MervynPartin
    @MervynPartin5 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for that reply, Paul. I was intrigued by the different gauges and and enjoyed your amusing comments on the reasons for the narrower gauges. I have only been to MOTAT once and that was in 1975. New Zealand is such a lovely country and I wish that I could have visited more often, the second time only being in 2016. Thanks again...Mervyn
