Who is the interviewer
This is one of the most enjoyable hours I have ever spent on KZread. Thank you Jane for the insightful interview, and thank you Kate for your openness (and career!)
Such a piece of Melbourne
Dave is a beautiful being. Did anyone Notice Dave is wearing a Watch? Not common these days 💎💎💎💎💎
Great interview. Thanks Dave.
Baby Can Dance, Pt ll - lV
A fascinating watch. Left with the feeling there is a LOT more to find out about Dave the man ....... particularly on a personal note. That aside, great to relive the enjoyment he has given me since seeing their first ever gigs in Melbourne in the early 80s. Thx.
🤟🦘🎸 ... legendary artist, a huge part of my 80s, 'Mars (still) Needs Guitars'.🚀😉👍
I have never heard anyone speak so clearly and eloquently. No ummmms or ahhhs
why are all these people so serious? like they've changed the world? it's just bad pop music. so boring
wow she had a real job for three months!
Legend band and a Cronulla sharks supporter...😊..
Loudest band I’ve ever heard live. So many great songs.
Love this guy and his music. Dave is a pioneer and legend of the Australian music scene and the Hoodoo Gurus have helped shape this country's soundtrack. 'What's My Scene' and 'Bittersweet' & 'Miss Free love' phenomenal songs and Music Television Mainstays. Great questions by Jane too. Thank you for sharing this wonderful interview with us all!
Legend. Gonna buy the new Guru's album tomorrow.😀
Shame about the interviewer. Many nods, many smiles, much pretending. Great editing to show her more than the actual artist. Dave Rocks!!!!
She’s one of the most experienced, knowledgeable music journalists in the country
Scrooge, you're a bloody legend!
A great subject to interview. There were a couple of times Dave seemed to want to be more introspective but the interview moved on....a great part of the Australian music scene.
Love this deep dive with Dave. Saw them at Thirsty's in Mobile Alabama on their first US Tour and that was it! Favorite band all time. So many great shows through the years. Can't wait to see them again. Thanks for sharing!
Great Interview. Mental As Anything? Apart from a few good songs, they’re not in the same league as Hoodoo Gurus.
What's My Scene!!
Not much else i can say that everyone hasn't already been said. A truly amazing human being. LOVE you Ed. A inspirational and humble gentlemen
Start of US Mars tour, 1985, a dark club in Berkeley California, long set, encore jam with Flamin' Groovie Cyril Jordan. Total blast. Been a Gurus fan ever since.
What a captivating interview of such an articulate and intelligent legend of Australian music!
When I think of the Hoodoo's, I remember great Aussie hits, (and seeing them perform whilst enjoying $1 beers at Uni Lol!!). 👍
Definately one of my favourite bands and sooo good live at a festival in 90's ❣
So good to watch and listen to Dave Faulkner talk about his career. The Hoodoo Gurus never disappoint Live or recorded.
Instantly takes me back to the 80s with the whole HG vibe, with the cavalcade of songs you could really tap your feet to. Also had that really good classic guitar sound and a great live act. Must admit I have been overseas for more than 30 years, but as a kid growing up, we really were spoilt for choice with bands like the HG, the Oils, Rose Tattoo, the Johnnies, and the rest, who could turn it on live every week down the pub. Thanks Dave!!!
thank you so much Terry!! Incredible! Congrats! rx
Rob is a damn decent chap, Melbourne in the 80's, we were building a rehearsal room for sacred Cowboys. Rob came along and pitched in with the work.
First time I met Genevieve, she was with Marie Hoy, was at Faraday St where at the time I was playing with babeez, at our rehearsal space. We used to put impromptu concerts on the footpath. Last time she was working in a clothing shop in chapel St. Not long after Roland passed. She was inconsolable.
Go Dogtown,
Wonderful Series.
Great questions, brilliant answers - a truly fascinating interview. A most articulate, talented drummer. Always loved their music though their "message" , with words so carefully, poetically chosen, is something else altogether. thanks guys
I love and miss you Jeannie x Jodie
Most people who are awake are aware of how evil the british crown is and was...the irish and indigenous suffered in the millions of starvation, murder and torture inflicted by the crowns useful idiots
What a besutiful man
Fantastic interview with one of the great indigenous musicians and artists. In the company of Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Kev Carmody, Mandawuy Yunupingu, Jimmy Little, George Rrurrambu Burarrawanga and many others....
Rehearsed once circa 1976 in Chatswood, and Peter (with hair) sat in on the session. Supported Oils at times over the years in some of the “massive beer barns” Rob mentioned. Great times and venues and the incubator for many iconic Aussie bands to hone their craft before assaulting the international stage.
The sound he got with BRMC on their album Wrong Creatures is just beautiful!
Jewish people did a lot for Australia. So Australia should strive to eliminate anti- Semitism and that other group and terrorists which promote it. A Jewish lawyer worked on the Mabo case and won land rights for Indigenous. Therefore those hijacking the . Australian Indigenous cause for their benefit are hypocrites. Jewish people, such as Michael Gudinski contribute positively to Australia and it’s success and happiness.
*He used to bring me roses ... I wish he would again. But that was on the outside ... and things were different then*
Brian Czempinski is an absolute legend! Was good to see him get a mention! Underappreciated for sure!
Loved that
Great interview and very engaging guy. Wonderful sharing all those Oils memories. Also wonderful to hear all the other behind the scenes stories.
What a great interview! Nick’s legacy particularly with Aussie bands is unparalleled, excepting the late and great Tony Cohen. I’m pretty sure Nick produced some early stuff from The Church. I guess you would need days to discuss every single record he worked on. Love his passion - what a great life!
He produced Seance which is a fantastic album but has a very contentious drum sound.
Diese Band nimmt einen besonderen Platz ein. Weltweit. Long live Midnight Oil!!!!!!
Midnight Oil the best and the most Australian band ever !
What is it about these music people that makes them so articulate and engrossing?! NL is no exception - great interview, great stories told with heart and humour. Glad to have Nick as an honoury Australian. What a CV! Thanks for sharing.
Such a wonderful interview thank you.
