Lovely, if only I could win the lottery. Stayed on the campsite in 76. One of the best holidays ever.
OK for holiday. Expensive place to live .
Sound! We have sound!
One of my favorite artists are from Guernsey and I just want to say... so much cruelty for such a pretty island
Where would I get a book on old Guernsey history
How about a video filmed on a wet Wednesday in the middle of winter highlighting all the negative aspects of living on this tiny, corrupt overcrowded Rock. 😏
😂😂😂😂😂😂! You are too mean of a person darling! I understand why the rock 🪨 happened to be overcrowded for your meanness 😅😂
Not mean , just a realist . I’ve lived here, 62 years. This island is in serious decline . it’s becoming like the UK.
Still the super professional Shauna, looking good too! Still miss Swoffers even after so long. Best wishes, Penny
It’s been destroyed by immigration
I'm proud to be a Guernsey girl born and bred xx
I love the way they only interviewed wealthy individuals. The average person living in Guernsey will not have the same response. Stunning place to live but you need to be earning at least 70k to really enjoy your life here. I live in a 3 bed house close to the beach but it's worth around 600k! It's a great place to live for high paid directors or advocates but not for the average person. You pay a lot for the privilege to live here.
any ridout's still in real estate i could do with a new home
This is the most middle class thing I’ve seen in a while
And what’s wrong with being middle class?
@@davidc6997 He was being sarcastic
Thanks for the video. I'm now reading the book, which I find terribly funny, so to see the locations is really useful.
What a treasure.I absolutely love this movie I must look for the book.
Proud to be from Guernsey.
If you have lived on the island, or have blood relatives who do, you may be entitled to residential rights. In which case you pay the same price for property as an islander. Otherwise you pay a massive premium on real estate. In some cases this can be ten times what an islander would pay. I am lucky, as I was born in St. Martins, Guernsey.
Good Video.
Well the kids should have their own office space.
You need to win the lottery Twice to afford to live there. !!!
Thanks for posting this video - I live here in Guernsey and it’s a truly beautiful island with stunning beaches & coastal views, such a great place to live 🏝
She’s knowledgeable and well spoken. Totally sold!
Then Pandemic hit
I’ve lived here all my life and I could not live anywhere else

Hello Shauna! Lovely to see your smiling face again... I hope you are well! Alxx
It's a classic old fashioned movie, a little bit too sugary and discounted. Also good for children
Everything but the price ...
August 2020. Are these sold yet
They seem like a nice couple. Good luck to them. But my goodness you need very deep pockets indeed to move permanently to Guernsey living in an open market property.
This couple always been business orientated and have some means to be able to move to island
@@td6369 Self evidently. I'm saving for a garage in St Martins ....
You can only relocate to guernsey if you are rich and you can afford the open market prices for homes. Or if a company sponsors you
I'm less than one minute in and yeah, that's how it looks. If you have only 6-figures in your bank account, this isn't for you. That means it's not for me haha.
@@1QKGLH I lived in Guernsey and yes its geared for the rich , however I did find paradise and the money you make is a better lifestyle, look up the Cayman Islands
I live here but bloody hell its expensive and housing is at a all time high. I live in tiny 3 bed house and its over half a million. Its not worth unless you are proper rich
Please don;t talk wet!!! You need to be seriously wealthy to live here!!! don't often see her in the coop in St.martins,No 81 Bus or in the Captains Pub!.
Very interesting.
What a beautiful young man
Ok if You have about 5 million Quid!!! don't often see her in the the Coop in St.Martins! or the Captain's Pub!!! But Yes great House, walked passed it only last Week. Then I caught the Bus !! LOL.
Agreed it is paradise!!! But average working man can't afford it.we have just been over to have a look.Serious money.Probably not a local in site, but yes fab place to be ,if only!!
Want to live here 😍
Umm one problem what happened to our language which is guern French because my gran was around then and she said most people didn't speak English that much and I was shocked that the didn't use or speak our real language and to be honest Guernsey is not Guernsey anymore it went down hill and Guernsey police are corrupted and back in the day it was greatbl but know its not I live here all my life and that my and family experience here
Where can I get hold on the lovely brown jacket she is wearing
Hi, thanks for info. Can you please share your mail I'd. I need few specific details

Loved the book. Thanks for posting!
It was amazing sacrifice .
I spent 6 months on Guernsey, it's a truly beautiful part of the world.
Wow... tell us more, is it expensive, did you walked in those bunkers. So lucky
@@kaprolka5704 ive live on guerney my whole life, it is extremely expensive but it doee really pay off.
@@MS-yy4qs ❤️❤️ I’m gonna visit one day for sure!!
I live there xx
llévame con tigo❤
Wonderful human story of fortitude filmed in a stunningly photographic manner. Movingly acted and historically correct for the most part. Too bad it was mostly filmed in England and not the island itself.
Carole J he clearly hasn’t seen how big our buses are then 😂
my boots im eti by the way tonys son sadly moved house now loved that house
I read this book 7-8 years ago and for whatever reason, I didn't look up pictures of the modern Guernsey. This video is wonderful because it shows us Guernsey now. Wow. I didn't realize it was so big. I pictured it smaller... Duh on me, but I really enjoyed this video. Thank you for making and uploading!
Fran Looving Smaller? Hah, you can't even see us on a map. The only things smaller are Alderney, Jethou, Brechou, Sark and Herm! I mean, cruise ships have to set down their anchors outside the harbour since it's too small.
It was shot in England.. not the tiny island.
I Thought The Short Film - Was Portrayed in Extremely Good Taste And Portrayed A True Story In It's Full Glory! I Really Enjoyed What I Viewed In This Small But Delightful Real Portrayal Of What Happened In Guernsey All Those Years Ago, Congratulations Too All The Actors/Film Company And All The Filming Crew Involved, I Am Proud To Call Myself Along Life British Citizen! These Are My Own Views?
Turn off your caps
why cant these commentators just talk without all this music drowning out their voice? There seems to be an epidemic of loud background music in everything you see these days and you have to resort to lip reading, subtitles or just plain missing out on what is being said.

Excellent short film - whoever is responsible has done a great job, and made me want to return before long. You've very tactfully conveyed what a crazy and artistically-misguided decision it was to shoot the entire 'Guernsey' locations in the south west of England!
get real
Many thanks for your helpful advice. I can now confirm that I've become real.
just how do you imagine it could have been filmed in Guernsey? It's so built up now.
