    a cool detail is that mad jack claims that jack needs him, and that he kept him alive. and it turns out he was right that the monk had the sword, meaning his intuition is actually quite accurate

    There's a reason why a monk appeared before Jack during his meditation. When Jack's Father was brought to that tall mountain cave, three monks appeared before him but were really the three gods Odin, Ra, and Vishnu in human form until they revealed themselves.

    It's similar to how when Jack's father entered the cave on the mountain and the three gods m took the form of monks so that his human mind could comprehend them.

    Anger can do so much harm and pain if left unchecked or not controlled. I've done things that I regret to this day, all because of the exploding anger I had, not the reasons that provoked. I thank God for showing me the spiritual consciousness and guiding me to be a better person. You need anger to defend yourself and your loved ones, but not harm others with it. It's like a fire. If not maintained, it can burn you too.

    I just realized something, this is Jack’s Fight Response manifest. It has literally kept him alive all this time, but now it’s misaligned and holding him back. When this happens, a typical outcome is that minor inconveniences elicit rage and possibly violent emotions.

    Someone on here said that there's an irony of the ceremony being perfect but his heart is in turmoil so the tea comes out terrible, but as someone who knows this routine fairly well theres a lot of small flaws that are really obvious when you know tea ceremony. It gives a feel of he's just bumbling through it but just masking the panic. It's really cool that it also shows in the tea ceremony itself if you know what to look for... though it also could be that they were just mistakes especially considering this made before there was copious amounts of information and footage on the internet.

    Because I feel insane, I am going to list them. 0:12 the hishaku is not held like that. the balance of the two hand like that is pretty but you just go straight to mirror position (the up down hold) and put the hishaku down. There's no point where it gets held like that. 0:13 fingers sticking out (this will be a running theme) 0:18 the hishaku is not set down with two hands. Its set down with the right hand pinching at the bottom. 0:20 this is uzucha not koicha. you don't bow here. And certainly not like that! Oh my god that's too low! ... bad bow posture too. 0:25 wrong grip on the chashaku. should just be on the thumb and index finger on the very tip not like a ruler you are going to whap someone with. 0:31 This is probably done for ease of animation but you would never set the parts that will make contact with the tea on the ground. Setting the chasen flat is killing me. Its also to early to be moving those implements never mind without purifying them.

  • @tailsofpearls
    @tailsofpearls2 ай бұрын

    Part 2 0:41 The fukusa folding was going so good until the last part. once into the square shape you fold it in two by holding it in the right hand and pushing against it with the left hand and then pulling it off. It looks kinda like a yinyang shape from that angle. 0:44 wrong movement to purify the natsume. Its not straight down the natsume, it's two half moon motions (there's a lot of moon motifs in tea ceremony) 0:47 natsume on the wrong side of the tea bowl. Now is the time where the chashaku would be taken off the bowl. 0:51 fingers sticking out. 0:57 hishaku is way too high. Should go to chest height. The pot lid should have also been tilted slightly toward the teamaker so it is not fully sealed. If the pot is left sealed while on the heat it will explode.

  • @tailsofpearls
    @tailsofpearls2 ай бұрын

    Part 3 1:03 Again too high, also should be directly in front instead of off to the left (especially bad because the left is where the dirty waste is, but maybe deliberate for symbolism) 1:07 NO SWIRLING!! ITS NOT A POT OF STEW THERE'S ONLY WATER. This killed me when I first saw it. On other things I dismissed because they would probably be more complicated to animate but on this why? why? Its only a thrust motion into the pot that's it. The opening of the pot is only maybe 2cm more in diameter than the hishaku itself, there's no space to swirl it even if you needed to. it's so weird. 1:11 there's not physical way to set the hishaku down with water in it. I don't know why this frame exists. 1:19 Chasen lifted way to high. Should only be to the height of the hishaku. 1:20 the thump of the chasen on the ground kills me. Its a very delicate instrument that takes a lot of skill to make and he just thunks the fragile bristles on the ground. Its this and the swirling are the mistakes that I hate the most. The rest are understandable but these two really aggravate me. 1:25 That's not matcha. 1:38 wrong hand position for stabilizing the bowl and wrong whisk movement. Should be minimal contact and a vigorous back and forth motion to whisk the tea. 1:42 Again this two handed thing with maximal contact when it should be right handed with minimal contact. 1:51 Drank out of the face of the tea bowl Obviously there was a great amount of abbreviation and a lot of choices were made with style and the theme of the scene in mind as opposed to what is actually done, but there were a lot of little things that stuck out to me. There's other even smaller ones that have to do with positioning etc that I felt like they weren't work mentioning. This was kind of a fun exercise to test how much I can spot and I wanted to share the perspective of what it looks like to someone who knows what it's supposed to look like. As you can see from the very long list it becomes very obvious that Jack doesn't quite remember what he is doing. 😅

    He didn't stir long enough for the ingredients to be properly integrated since i believe you shouldnt be able to see the flakes/powder, and the water sounds like it's definitely past the ideal temp given the sound direction. All pointing to the fact that Jack was impatient and fueled by rage.

    Something that someone pointed out to me recently, is that the Monk never actually says the TEA is terrible. In fact, it's more likely he is referring to Jack's current state. Jack lost the sword, had to forgo his code against the killing of other living creatures, and most importantly, lost his Bushido (Literally 'Path of the Warrior', a set of rules that focus on honor, loyalty, and justice). He became ruled over by Mad Jack, and was, well, unbalanced spiritually. Since the start of the season, he's been essentially running from his problems, refusing to deal with them while he searches for something to magically fix all of them. He still retains his morals and noble heart, the pieces are still all there for him to be his true self, but they remain scattered due to Jack's fear. However, we, like Jack, assume he is talking about the tea and disrespecting him. But the Monk never actually insults Jack. From a contextual viewpoint, he points out Jack is a mess, and that is why he is unable to find the path to reclaiming the sword. He cannot tell Jack where to go or what to do, because only Jack knows his own path forwards. And to find that path, Jack obviously has to earn it. He cannot passively wander aimlessly and just hope to find it. He has to seek it out himself. Jack finds his Bushido again by getting rid of Mad Jack, the embodiment of his trauma and darkness that had clouded his path and led him astray, and that is what allows him to meet the gods and earn the sword.
