This piece was fascinating. I had never heard of Pyramaze until you released these videos, and I think I love it. This one in particular though. I'm extremely political, and sort of see myself as an outsider to every party (though generally less progressive than the singer seems to be) trying to just insert kindness and sanity and... balance, really. I won't lie, I was nervous where it was going when it got to the second verse, but you're right. This song is incredibly broad for all its specificity and honesty. I don't get the line about the Old West community or the Disciple of the Sun one. Do those reference particular things you're aware of? The rest of it though, feels like its singing my thoughts to the world. I love this.

In my opinion Mortemia did a great job with this cover. Everything sounds better with metal riffs! As a German I find Marina's accent in this song quite lovely. 😘

Fun fact The Grey, The Black and The White are songs that tie into each other with their theming. You can especially see that in the choruses if you take this one for example "black and white turning into shining light, white!"

I think, while not as well put together as Of Beauty and Rage, I think this album is on that level in terms of musicianship. It also reminds me of their innocence and instincts album as well. This album feels like everything that worked from every album that came before it and in my opinion, their implementation of electronic sounds with the strings has been the best its ever been. This album feels like core red at its best and i can't wait to hear anything that they release in the future. I also heard that they might be working on a special edition of this cd with more songs. Only time will tell.

One more thing Al! WALK IN DARKNESS - Walk Close To Me (Official Video) is deserving of your undivided attention and a purposeful reaction video. You will not be disappointed! You might be sensually overwhelmed by yet another magnificent performance by Nicolleta Rosellini that quite literally transverses thousands of years of Italio-Etrusco Art History; ending up in deeply immersive splendor, wrapped in panoramic meta-phsyical life in the present. All Hail Nicolleta!

Al, how did you learn to speak so eloquently? Do you have a background in literature, film, music, all of the above? One day there will be a reaction video to your reaction. Perhaps I love Nicoletta Rosellini so very much also? Very much enjoyed your ability to abstract the many esthetic qualities of the band Alterium. The Roman Empire has been unlocked! Foot soldiers of Legio VI Ferrara (Sixth Ironclad Legion) endorse Alterium! Hail Nicoletta! Keep growing this channel!

Great reaction! I love your breakdown and you’re in for quite a journey with Epica they are so diverse and often so heavy I parallel them in that regard to Fleshgod Apocalypse. Epica is so appropriate name for them and I’ll like most all symphonic metal bands some better than others but Epica they just ruined you lol! New sub here!

The video was a bit too graphic for me, TBH. I do get your catharsis argument. In that vein, I recommend Draconian (sad) and Bury Tomorrow (angry).

  • @ALsReactions

I’ll put those on to the “considerations catalog”; thanks for pitching them to me. And yes, I totally understand the visual is a bit gratuitous. In truth, I questioned whether or not to fit a blurring box to it (similar to how Nik Nocturnal did in his reaction video). I didn’t in the end, I think, for sake of preserving the metaphor. But totally understand. It definitely is a darker depiction for sure, and lm happy to see based on your response that the catharsis angle I detected was fleshed out clear enough. :-)

It's fascinating to me how Dianne won me over. At first I nearly stopped entirely because I as a rule do not like opera or operatic style vocals. And yet I kept going, and by the end of the video I found myself wanting to hear more of it. I can't say what about this song did that for me, but it's certainly something special.

  • @ALsReactions
    @ALsReactions25 күн бұрын

I wonder if it’s the split between melodic and operatic, that it gives enough of a balance for those who don’t prefer opera but like ballad-skewing numbers. Or maybe, it’s the integration with metal instruments - deep base, percussion, enhanced riffs, stuff like that. I don’t want to speak for you on what it is; just throwing out some ideas. But cool to see she won you over; she’s one of my favorite artists to have spotlighted yet.

I generally prefer pure reactions to analysis reactions, but I really appreciate you not pausing every 20 seconds. I only play the radio, so analysis is mostly. But: again not drowning the song while talking and not pausing a bunch is a good formula IMO

man, Epica is a real treasure. Amanda, by the way, was Simone's vocal teacher at the beginning of the band's career. In my humble opinion, by the 2020s, the student has surpassed the teacher. In many ways, while I certainly respect and love Amanda, she is very talented. I’m honestly surprised that there are so many symphonic metal bands on your channel, but no Epica, who are in the top three leaders of this genre 🤷🏻‍♀️ but be prepared for the fact that Epica is not only the angelic voice of Simone, it’s quite heavy in places and extreme metal and in general they perfectly balance all the heaviest and at the same time the most beautiful, this is an amazing group that can simply blow your mind.

The Nomad's Crown, the closing track of this album, is my favourite from this band. Make sure you check it out - it's an awe-inspiring finale! This album is a great callback to the classic Nightwish sound imo - just put this on side by side with Wishmaster or Oceanborn and you'll hear it clearly hehe. Kudos to your eloquent enthusiasm for the music.

Thanks for the kind feedback; means a lot. 🙂 And the tip about Nightwish via Oceanborn and Wishmaster…I’m sure I’ll be able to see your point in action soon, once our run through Nightwish starts (nearly finished preparing to go down that road). And keep your eyes peeled for The Nomad’s Crown. Spoiler alert…I did decide to go back into Neverworld’s End, for reasons I’ll make clear once the videos I have prepped are published. That includes this finale piece.l, which I’ll post about soon…

Still sounds great live, from the recordings I’ve seen. Dianne still holds the trophy for best vocalist for this song, but I’d say that Ambre is doing a great job filling in her role with her own capabilities. For the hit that it is, it deserves the frequent showcase it gets even to this point.

Hey! Thanks for sharing this. Great album! I had disconnected from Xandria with India; it didn't resonate with me at all for some reason. Then I reconnected with them at a concert on their first year of touring with their new singer Amber. Really liked the new album. But this one: Neverworld's End fell between the cracks. What a great piece of work! Enjoying it a lot.

They have certainly worked their way up to that, ever since Neverworld’s End (as I’ve heard, this is what best represents the timing of their symphonic metal switch). And Ambre stands well amongst the group of soprano artists that have come on, but like Manuela and Dianne has her own captivating individuality.
