Thanks for taking the time to give an honest review of one of these things. The fact that these are made at all is fascinating. This poor machine is a testament to why we'll never see another good typewriter again: even when you cut every single corner, the labor that goes into making even the worst manual typebar typewriter makes them very expensive by today's standards. If they had to charge a few hundred dollars for this plastic abomination in order to turn a profit, imagine how much a good typewriter would cost in the modern day. It makes no sense to go that route when they made millions of perfectly functional typewriters over the last century, and you can get one of those for a fraction of the price (and arguably, even the worst typewriters of the 1960s and earlier would be better than this thing.) Until the demand for typewriters is higher than the supply, which will probably be never, we won't see somebody pony up and make anything resembling the typewriters of old.
