Seconds out Time to settle down and watch some of the best (and worst) of British Wrestling finest Saturday 4pm Wrestling stars. A tribute to the time when we all had nothing better to do than shout at the telly whilst wondering who or what the masked Kendo Nagasaki is . A golden much missed period when for a time British Wrestling was the best in the world . So it's over to Kent Walton at ringside ....

In the 60's I used to sit with my Dad on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm and watch these guys and many others whilst Mum got the tea ready. He used to sit on the edge of his seat and live every blow.
I have meet them in the old pavilion in Hemel Hempstead when it was on TV on sat afternoons Regards rich from corby Northamptonshire
Just discovered Roberts recently. Very impressed. A perfect Face/Hero.
Roberts certainly takes a thrashing during this match. He makes for an ideal Face/Hero.
8:38 clever Kendo, clever... Pete never knew what hit him.
Eight 5 minute rounds, proper endurance athletes then!
The usual punching and cheating Mick McManus , he fought god belt Brian maxine and maxine beat this cheating McManus , but so did Maxine do sly punches as well to other wrestlers , Maxine is still living he will be 84 in august , Mick McManus passed away in a nursing home he refused food as he missed his wife so much she had passed away before him, he slipped into a coma and passed away ,even the arrival of his friend lord Attenborough at his bedside didn't help , he passed away in 2013 aged 93 . His videos are still on you tube , 💙🩵💚💛🧡
'I can hold a tennis racket up against my face and pretend that I am Kendo Nagasaki'
And in round 4 an equalising fall to Lesa Kellet.
I think Max Wall was an excellent referee.
'Hello grappling fans' I used to watch this with my Nanny Sparks when I was a lad, we loved it wear have those days gone
Yes Saturday just before the football scores came on,,i remember him wrestling with some one who had him in a sleeper hold and after a min he started yawning 😅
Loved to watch this in the 70s so much fun😊😊😊

Love watching world of Sport wrestling on a Saturday afternoon with my granny, my favourite was Catweasle🙂
lol. Used to love watching this on a Saturday afternoon..Thanks
What fantastic entertainers, Les Kellett my absolute favorite of all time. Thanks Les.
every sat afternoon on telly loved this , les was every ones fave but masambulo was a close second micl Mc manis was the bad guy the royal bros were a bit pro lookin , yeah when telly was good now it's just full o crap , aye !
Les Kellett, Bert Royal, Vic Faulkner were the good guys, Mick McManus, Mr. TV Jackie Pallow, The Black Diamonds were the bad guys. My family and I used to watch them all on a Saturday afternoon when I was a kid at school. When he was younger, my PT teacher used to fetch and carry for them when they came to the Spa Centre and he told us some tales. The big name used to openly discuss what moves they were going to pull and which round they were going to make the winning move. I remember old women in the crowd hitting the "villains" with umbrellas when they were thrown through the ropes. It was all good stuff.
That's Brian Glover isn't in the bout against Les .
The dynamite kid, trained by ted bettley. Don't know why he was calling dynamite he only had a,2 inch fuse. Known behind his back as wee Willie winky
Good to be able to watch them
Happy days this was Britain sadly no more fantastic entertainment with Kent Waldron. Freedom of enjoyment and speech sadly now lost. MP years ago should have listened to Enoch Powell. God reset his soul rivers of blood.
Just great stuff
If you are lucky once in a lifetime you find a Master of the trade. Rarely will they show off, but they will make life better for those who watch them work. Les Kellett was one of them and I have the pleasure of seeing a couple more in my lifetime! To some, they look like great entertainers, not wrestlers, that was the skill level. They could provide entertainment while wrestling.
Leon Arras was the actor Brian Glover. In his early days as a wrestler, he was on standby in case a wrestler didn't turn up. The French wrestler Leon Arras didn't show , so Brian had to go on. As he wasn't yet famous, they just sent him out as Leon Arras and the name stuck. He was in a tag team with Bobby Graham of Sheffield as The Untouchables.
Brilliant entertainment. All history now. Great memories of Saturday afternoons infront of the tele. Grub on a tray in the living room. Great days. Remember McManus and Jackie Palo. ?😅😅😅😅😅
Jim Breaks was called the cry baby
I used to love going to watch it live, it was great fun. During the interval, the wrestlers would join us all in the bar
loved it in edgware road in the sixties
Les Kellet and Brian Glover two great guys who knew how to entertain the crowd. Brian went on to do great stuff in his acting career. Loved him in Porridge (Cyril Heslop), hilarious. Les was a much loved and respected wrestler by his fellow wrestlers as well as his followers. He may have acted the fool but was excellent at his craft catching many an opponent out. I remember him winning the "ITV Sports presonality of the year", he lived to the grand age of 86. R.I.P. boys, am sure you are still entertaining behind those Peary Gates.
Used to go to the wrestling every Friday at the Liverpool stadium. Me and a friend picked up a couple of loosies each. Great entertainment. I was about 12/13 and thought that it was all real.
and its the fair haired slightly balding bobby charlton to kick off
What wrestling moves did the fatty folks make?????
These fatties couldn't wrestle and Mr. Crabtree turned on his old partner.
Leon was a good heel and Les was the best comedian of wrestling that you don't get today
Kids wouldn't know about Saturday morning and afternoon tv
Wonderful memories!
Brian Glovers alter ego !
Didn't know Sir David Attenborough used to wrestle.
Casper!! What the bloddy hell do you think you're doing lad...GET Down!!
They both went to the venue in the same car, both were great friends, Uncle Brian Glover.
Thanks for posting and some great memories. Wonder whatever happened to Bert Royal and Vic Faulkner, Johnny Kwango and Seve Logan? Agree, Saville has no place on anything any more.
