    What an awesome person, a great role model. He is so modest too, he was a high school dropout who became the top engineer at a fortune 500 company, holds numerous patents, and licensed ideas to manufacturing companies in retirement. Wow...

    I keep seeing that the "use of catapults disqualifies" what is called an airplane. If we use that bit of internet logic, then every jet fighter from the F4 to the F22 that takes off from an aircraft carrier is not an "airplane". Even the Harrier jump jet is not an "airplane". I know there is this desire among many people to want to minimize the accomplishments of the United States of America, however when you have an event that happens and then three years later you change the rules to attempt to revise history retroactively, as the Federation of Aeronautics did in Paris, that doesn't mean something is erased from history. And I've been hearing about Gustave Whitehead since I was a kid, and that was never really proven.

    Thank you, we had not heard of Alexander Mozhaiskogo/Mozhaysky before. Wikipedia states that the Russian Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) studied this in the 1970s and found that Mozhaysky traveled 100 feet from a ramp but that his wings and engine were insufficient for sustained flight. But with the larger engine Hozhaysky had planned before his death, he might have succeeded! It seems even more people around the world were closing in on the solution than we realized.

    In November 1908, they set a world altitude record of 360 feet (110 meters). The altitude of their first flight, 5 years earlier in 1903, was 10 feet (3 meters). They weren't scared of heights, they were setting new records!

    I thought we were talking about airplanes here, which are machines that can take off, fly and land under its own power as we all know it. That was created by Brazilian Santos Dumont in 1906. The use of the catapult disqualifies the Wright brothers as the first to fly what we call an airplane. With a catapult even a cow can fly

    Actually, the Wrights were NOT first in flight. So says a growing number of historians and Jane's All the World Aircraft, the bible of aviation history, 2013. The evidence for Gustave Whitehead's powered flights in 1901-1902, preceding those of the Wright Brothers are irrefutable. This does not take away the Wrights' further work to "improve the art". The official explanation Wind blamed for the fiasco. Hours later, the organizers of the party made another attempt. Again a failure. The original flight had occurred three years before Alberto Santos Dumont off with your "14-bis", lasted 12 seconds and ran 36 meters. Hundred years later, a replica of the Wright flying machine, piloted by a flight instructor, even took off. font:

    Traian Vuia was a Romanian inventor and aviation pioneer who designed,built and tested the first monoplane.His first airborne test traveled 12 m on March 18.1906 and his best distance was 24 m.His invention influenced Louis Blériot in designing monoplanes.Vuia's machine had the capability to take off from a flat surface only by on-board means without outside assistance such as an incline rails or catapult.Alberto Santos Dumont recognized Vuia as a "forerunner" of his efforts, Google-Henri Coanda

    In 1905 the Wright Brothers flew their third model 24 miles, circling a field near their home in Dayton for 39 minutes nonstop. It's true that the Wrights used a launching rail and skids. Their first flights were from sand. It's also true that in the end their plane turned out to be a dead end. But it is also true that while Santos-Dumont had only flown 220 meters when Wilbur Wright showed up in Paris and flew. 123 kilometers, staying aloft for more than two hours.

    Wright Brothers or Wind Brothers?

    In late 1909, the two founded the Wright Company and began to market their devices. In 2003, the centennial of the Wright brothers made, a consortium of companies and institutions in the U.S. tried to play the first flight of the Flyer, with an exact replica of the plane. Even managed to get off the ground. The replica was faithful, but lacked strong winds that helped Wright to take off in 1903. I need not say more

    Proponents of Wright assert that these arguments of Brazilians are absurd and that before Dumont, the Wright brothers had already run several successful flights. Brazilians use to philosophy: "If a tree falls in the forest and have no one to watch or listen, that tree really fall?" While the fight continues nationalist, different countries have different passages in their history books. But to do what? History has never been and will never be an exact science.

    However, some time later, Americans Orville and Wilbur Wright proved they had made the first flight three years before Dumont. So far so good. All the experts, even those who advocate Dumont, agree that the Wright brothers first flew, however, that proponents of Dumont preach, is that the Wright brothers' plane was unable to take flight alone or to keep in the air on its own, being aided by the strong winds blowing in the region.

    In 1906, Alberto Santos Dumont takes off with his 14-bis in Paris, flying approximately 220 meters. It was the first public display of an aircraft flying at this distance autonomously and thus Santos Dumont became known in Europe as the inventor of the airplane.

    I'm not trying to take anything away from Santos Dumont Sergio.Getting the kind of recognition that the Wright brothers got didn't come from their invention alone. It also took marketing skills. Wilbur Wright happened to had a natural talent for this as well. They're all great men.

    On 23 October 1906, aboard the 14 Bis, Santos Dumont is considered the first man to take off by themselves on a machine heavier than air. The 14 Bis flies 60 meters to 3 meters high by 7 seconds. On August 8, 1908 Santos Dumont makes first flight with his latest invention: the airplane of number 22 who was nicknamed Demoiselle. This aircraft was considered his masterpiece and the first time the pilot could remain seated during the flight.

    The flight took place in the presence of witnesses, as the president of the town bank and some public officials, thus characterizing an event with public credibility, almost similar to the 14-Bis flight of Santos Dumont, in which experts, journalists and thousands of people witnessed the fact.A flying machine heavier than air was invented by Frenchman Clément Ader in 1890. However, it does not allow to control the direction of flight.

  • @Vennetta
    @Vennetta11 жыл бұрын

    The aircraft air lifted by themselves, that is, with the aid of equipment such as launch ramp and flight trilho. The same was done under conditions of limitation of the route with the flight distance attained only in accordance with the power release the auxiliary machine.
