Welcome to the danger zone.
Explosive sonic booms and supersonic fly-bys. Aircraft catapult launches and carrier landings. Fighter jets roaring past you, just inches above your head.
Flight Deck Life is the home of the most stunning footage ever recorded of life on a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier flight deck. Enjoy a first-person view of what is routinely called one of the most dangerous working environments on the planet.

Obviously late for the coffee and donuts in the mess!
So freaking cool. TY for this.
Would have been especially nice if the camera wasn't waving back and forth faster than the eye can focus on the object of interest. Maybe somebody else will do it.
We had no issues focusing on things! This goes to show you how quickly we have to analyze the situation on the flight deck. It takes months of training to adapt.
Semper Fortis. I am so proud to have served.
Is that rust and dirt?? There are rustproof metals available. Not in the navy but was in the army and that would never happen on my watch.
These boats sail on saltwater oceans. Corrosion is inevitable.
My dad did this on the Saratoga back in 82-83'
What kind of button on the side of our knees? What its function?
Navy Brat here. Grew up around Navy flight testing bases. Two of my favorite sounds together: Hall of the Mountain Kings and Fighters taking off. Perfect match. Fly Navy/Semper Fi
How do these boards work exactly? Are those numbers on wheels that rotate, or are they projected somehow? Working on a 3d model and I’d LOVE to know how I can make it accurate
It would be nice to see someone actually comment regarding the operation of the equipment that was posted. Instead of asking other random Catapult questions. For example,..how do the JBD’s operate? What is their purpose? Are they saltwater or freshwater cooled? Why are they angled that way? What happens during failure?
So proud of our Navy men and women!
Me in the mic: rip it, rip it, rip it. RIP IT
4 catatpult crews these are cat 3 and 4 so they have some roles that cats 1 and 2 do not
Sorry not super sonic that was trans sonic, there is a massive difference in the BOOM!! Real super sonic would have blown the Dec
Respectfully disagree!
the crew do not look impressed
Rip ears
I'll never get sick of watching these videos. Great job to everyone on that boat. Thanks for sharing.
Great video.
Ini betul le..😂😂😂
Must admit that Hornet is indeed a very good lookin jet fighter. To those designers.. Hat off
Can anyone explain the elaborate hand signals and kick when taking tension?
Never get sick of watching these.
I'm 16 but someday I hope to be working on top of a carrier!
Good luck to you kid! Enlist and make sure that want to e part of the Flight Deck crew. When you go through MEPS, make sure to tell them “Aviation Flight Deck”.
They are feet away from the intakes! Would seem they or any loose objects on them could easily get sucked in?
What plane? Oh...you mean the speck that flew by your boat at the speed of Holy Shit?
And the Senior Chief be like, where’s the Pizza?
Flight deck ops are awesome. Do you have anything that shows below deck operations?
That's just too cool! So says an old Air Force aircraft mechanic
I dont know why keep calling it supersonic when it's transonic
Awesome video. I feel like I'm part of the crew.
☠️☠️
I was a flight deck yellow shirt(director) on the USS Forestal for three years.I have NEVER seen it take so long to launch a cycle.
There have been safety measures that have been put in place. Plus Flight Deck SOP has significantly changed since your Forestal days. Seriously, I think the Navy had revised everything regarding the Forestal time period.
I would hope the launch would be faster if there was real combat
@@stanmansOf course it’s going to be faster during critical times. And, if it’s anticipated, they designate the best personnel to launch and recover “quickly & safely”.
@@torn-_shuttle123 are there any contests between carriers? I know there are differences between the shirt colors. Is there any significance for the various colors and designs on the flight deck crew helmets??
Legacy hornet nice
There is nothing better than flight deck life. ABF3 coe.USS Saratoga 77to 80
I came across a photo from 1983 aboard USS Lexington where the catapult operator had a seat back! They had it easy in those days!
I love us navy

Pity pilots do their job and ground crew who are most important stay and ,,,? Nothing🤔
Brilliant! 😅
I was in the Air Force, the loudest aircraft I ever heard was a Prowler on Misawa AB.
Such a cold reaction for a sonic boom 😂( of course it's your everyday business)
They make it look easy, like clockwork
