    This video popped up randomly! I enjoyed it very much. I liked the part where you had to milk the milk container!!! I’m in Calgary, Alberta Canada and we had a few weeks this winter where it was -40 with the windchill. 🥶 I know how cold you must have been!

    No it's not. They cost about €150 and are officially certified for public road use, with a certificate to prove this. They emit more light, but are at exactly the same height as the original ones. This is not Aliexpress stuff.

    WoW! 👍

    24:30 As Finnish guy, the cable is not for charging batteries, its for engine block heater and cabin electric heater. I can tell you as tow truck driver as well, that the cold (-20 or more) weather starts to get even on our cars. The cold days are always busy in my work. Batteries dead, too cold fuel to srart or car is simply not build for the cold. Usually switching the battery fixes the problems, but sometimes the car won't start until we tow it to garage to warm up, and as for fuel, diesel users need to keep eyes out for not using "summer diesel", which can stand like -10 to 20C before strting to "freeze", while winter one can stand somewhere around -40 to 50C, depending where you get it. Also a tip (which you seemed to do at one point) is to drive without shoes if your feet gets cold, as the shoes work as insulators as well, not letting heat get in. Tbh I have never drove a car that doesn't enough heating to feet (if you take shoes off), i can even dry them up pretty fast putting them to passenger side floor so the air dries them up. I know that Wv UP has pretty bad insulation on the sides, so maybe it just escapes too fast on that car. I don't personally recommend using add-on LED bulbs on halogen slots, as the light does not reflect the same way with LED and can start to blinden oncoming traffic (not on all cars of course), especially on dark. What I do recommend instead is getting something like lightbars, which are only for high beams. They are fairly cheap and fairly easy to install too and don't blind oncoming traffic if adjusted and used correctly. I haven't gone to camping in winter yet, but I stil know that those weathers are harsh even on heated tent to sleep trough without experience (sometimes even with experience too), so it's not surprising you are having "hard time". I know this trip is over, but just keep in mind that atleast in Finland we help if it's needed, even if we seem to be "distant" at first. Knock on door and we give what we can. I myself plan to go to north in week or two, to the same type of trip: Go north, see stuff, avoid hotels and most restaurants and cook your own food. Even if its not winter, I might have hard time as I've never gone to real camping trip before. But the stuff you and others put on youtube keeps me educated and motivated to do it even more, don't stop adventuring!

    I've had skoda's version of this car - citigo - for 40k km. Now clocked at 127k km. I'm well above surprised at how reliable this car has been. And now seeing it go so up north just adds to my bias. You had some guts trying this out. Waiting for the next episode

    i have a question why use diesel hearter and not idling all night with the the car's heater instead

  • @ZoefontheMove
    @ZoefontheMove21 күн бұрын

    Because it's really bad for the engine, and also really expensive in fuel cost.

    Excuse my surely stupid question, but why the power bank for the Diesel heater? To start it, or does it need permanent electricity for its pump?

  • @ZoefontheMove
    @ZoefontheMove21 күн бұрын

    Because it needs to start up the combustion. That takes a lot of energy. After it's running properly, the power draw drops and is only for the fuel pump and the fan.

    @@ZoefontheMove Just checked, same thing in Germany, Poland and Sweden at least. It's a pollution thing. Been forbidden here since 1991, it's in 55 § of the the traffic act, which is conveniently available in finnish and swedish, but here's an unofficial google translated version: Prohibition of unnecessary idling of a motor vehicle The engine of a combustion engine-powered vehicle may not be kept running for longer than two minutes if the vehicle is stopped for a reason other than a mandatory traffic barrier. However, you may keep the engine running for a maximum of four minutes before driving if it is colder than (minus) 15 degrees Celsius. In addition, the engine may be kept running before setting off or starting work on the vehicle or machine for the time necessary to get the vehicle or machine ready for operation. (17.12.2020/1040)

    A couple of things. The cars are to electricity not to charge the battery but to keep the engine block warm. Could you not have vented the diesel heater exhaust easier than making the warm air intake for the window? Was noise the issue?
