Sitting right along side Wynton's ability as a trumpet player is his ability as a natural born teacher. I'll go further. He is not lecturing impossibly talented 1st yearJuilliard students but someone who might have picked up an instrument for the 1st time yesterday. Unpretentious and that is the essence of good teaching.

In 1958 my friends and I were getting ready to play Monopoly in his house.. I was 13 years old. My friend put on Lou Donaldson and I think that Blues Walk was the first song on the record. I became a jazz fan. BTW this is 2024.

I didn't know this happened. Abram was one of our best and brightest lights at Ohio Wesleyan. He was a freshman my very first year there in 1991. I'm so happy he had this send off. Thanks gentlemen.
