When you dress the loom, do you use a plain weave or twill sett in the warp?

@@justinweaver7543 Great question! For Monk's Belt, I used a twill sett but not an extremely close version. You can absolutely play with that depending on the end goal of your fabric. I hope that helps!

Okay so I am not the only one who has a thing for odd numbers. Now I understand why objects in odd numbers are so calming to the eye. This was an eye-opener with regards to design. This gives me much more to think about during the design fase. Thank you!!! Sidenote: Your dad is a SMART man!

Use a walking foot for sewing and a purple thang to push top layer when sewing, don’t hold it they way we do when sewing cotton but gentle assist the top layer to stay even with bottom layer

@@jackiecauthron-schafer9554Jackie, it looks like the green is a Shetland wool in an olive color. The camel-colored yarn didn't have a tag, but I would guess it's a mohair. The rose-colored yarn is a chenille (mostly rayon) with a "burgundy" label. It looks more cranberry-ish in person. I'm sorry I couldn't give you more details! But, I definitely like these 3 colors together! Very fun!

@@Sharon-lo7ow Great question! Your yarn will have a recommended sett (spacing), which will look like a range - ex. 18-24. The lower number is a plain weave sett and the higher number is a twill sett. When you research your pattern, uncover the recommended sett and apply it to your yarn. It gives you a place to start! Let me know if that makes sense!

I really loved this episode! I also cut from the back in the middle like you and knot the front. I have in the past also cut from the front as well. I am learning what works best for the project that I am working on. I realized that the weaving police are not hiding under my loom.

Thank you for posting this! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. If I substitute the reed say from a 10 to a 12. Does that change the amount of yarn I will need for my project?

@@eamaples Great question! It's all about the spacing of your warp yarns. The type of reed you use should support your epi. If you tweak the epi, ultimately that is what would affect the count. Does that help?

I do a finish technique called “twining”-it is usually used with tapestry. I found that hemstitching was too irregular (my fault I’m sure) and while I often do a fringe, I still want the fabric to be stable before I get to that task. I do it at the start and end of the fabric. It takes longer, but it is worth it to me!

Hi, I weave a scrap wool in for baout 2" snip the piece off the loom and zig zag the piece to secure it. Then I can wet finish and use it of what ever I want...

Being a newbie 😎I like to try everything out. Alot of hem stitching, just like you smal sections and knots. But being 68 and grew up with a waste not mother, I can’t waste the yarn just to cut it off faster, those could be great washcloths at the top! 😂

I have never seen anyone leave the knots on and cut/untie each one while keeping the rest of the fabric under tension. Genius! I love the control this method affords the weaver. My instructor just cut it off, then left me to tie knots while trying not to start the edge raveling in the process. Thanks so much for your informative, friendly videos!
