Hi guys, my name is João Tiago Almeida and I have a KZread channel called "JTA Kayak Fishing".
I fish from a Kayak and I'm still learning the ropes to it. I'll invite you to come on this learning journey I'm doing, checking out my failures and my wins while I try new techniques, new lures, and try and catch some new and bigger fish.
I also make some "How to" and "DIY" videos on things that I find myself needing for my Kayak Fishing trips.

Thanks, it felt amazing. I have been on a losing streak for the past 2 years, breaking of 7 or 8 big Corvinas on the bridge pilings. And this one felt really good :D
He forgot to tell you that the type of silicon actually matters. If you are trying to copy a soft plastic lures; they are made from plastisol which reacts negatively with Platinum curing silicones and will not cure in the main cavity against the wall of the lure leaving a sticky mess in the middle and causing you to lose any detail like fins or scaling. You must use a tin catalyzed or other catalyzed silicone. I say this because Platinum pouring silicones are the most advertised and readily available today. At least here in the states and I've made that mistake.

Olá Fábio, obrigado pelo comentário. Não tem nada que saber, é entrar no Poço Bispo ou na Marina do Parque das Nações (se bem que agora eles cobram 18,5€ para se entrar lá. Ridículo mas enfim) e ir em direção ao meio da ponte. Tens no meu canal a montagem que eu uso para as corvinas é só procurares lá o vídeo. E depois é amostra para baixo e Jig até que acaba por sair um peixe. O mais certo é nem estarmos preparados para quando isso acontecer ehehe :D

I bought an old hand crank meat grinder at a yard sale for 5 bucks. I can make chum wherever I want with fresh bait or make it at home and freeze it. Either way this dispenser should work for me.

Hi bicalijd_pierfishing, thanks for your comment :D Maybe you didn't notice but I'm using a heat shrink tube on top of the lure. That's what I'm heating up. Thats whats protecting the tape. You can also give it a coat of epoxy resin to seal everything up. This way is just more practical and faster. Give it a try and let me know how it went :D

Muito bom! Estou no processo de instalar uma caixa dessas e um sonar no kayak. Vou usar uma caixa de munição .30 para a bateria. Estou pensando em substituir aquela tampa do pedal drive por uma diy onde eu instalaria todo o sistema ( fish finder, battery box and transducer). Havia pensado em instalar o sonar no pedal drive, mas a bateria ficaria no compartimento da proa.... Muito bons os projetos e a pescaria, estou aprendendo aqui, um abraço!
Hi Aranha 93, glad to see you are having a look at the videos on the channel, and taking the time to give some feedback :D It's not that easy to get those kind of ammo boxes here in Portugal, but this one is used by electricians to be outdoors in the rain. I like the results and It as gone fishing 2 times and had no problems with it. And a lot cheaper than buying one already made from fishing tackle stores. Regarding your idea to mount all that gear. I think i will be to big to be between your legs while you are pedalling. It will get in your way. Try to get the volume of everything you want to get there and see if you can actually pedal like that and if it's a good place to have the monitor of the fish finder. Let me know how it all turned out :D
Yep, that is something to consider, especially because I do spearfishing as well, and can be awkward to have something else when getting in/out of the kayak. I still thinking while I don't have all the "ingredients". I just figured out, that there is quite a dead space in between the pedal drive plastic thing ( that hits the tray when you hit something with the pedal drive) and the tray ( plastic console that prevent the propeller water splashes annoying you). I was thinking on do some improved tray, about 10cm deeper, and some sort of lid.... Thanks for your reply, hopefully we will have a new upload of yours soon, Tight lines!
Looking forward to see how is your fish finder installed on your yak and the setup to hook it up on this power box. Could you do a quick walk trough showing that on your next video, just before to catch some monster corvinas.
@@aranha9365 Hi Aranha, i had plans for making a walkthrough video on the Kayak when it was all ready to go, but a ton of Stuff happened that kinda push everything back. But there is really nothing fancy about it. But get in my facebook group and I can take some pics and show you. The group is "JTA Kayak fishing" it as my logo on it, it's easy to find.
Next fishing trip in 1 year, considering the amount of fish meat that you have now. 😅🤣😂 I've never fish a Corvina, that last one is massive, that was a good promo for this fishing rod, such a good fight.
Hi Aranha 93, yes we eat fish all year long hehe. This are actually "small" size fish. I've had someone catch a 46Kg one close to were I was fishing, now thats a big fish :D Regarding the rod, anything will do. My very first corvina, I broke a very light rod, not because of the fish but because I'm an idiot and bent the rod to much, after I already landed the fish. That was lots of work, I like your diy ideas. I own a almost identical kayak, I was thinking in do something with that lid, like a bamboo cutting board on the top, and a polystyrene layer inside. The bamboo would give enough resistance to attach a gopro "antenna" mount ( and processing fish obviously) and the inner side would make it more floating.... you know, sometimes the surf is unforgiving.
Hi Aranha 93, it's half the fun of doing this things or selfs :D Well that's one idea for sure. I'm thinking that will be a lot of work after cleaning all the blood and guts from the kayak if you are using that lid for that. But if you actually procees fish wille your out, go for it. Everything you do to give more buoyancy to the Kayak it's allways a good idea. I'd love to see those ideas in progress :D

Já vi tantos vídeos da pesca em Portugal, mas ninguém pratica apanhar e largar ?? Aqui no Reino Unido, ocasionalmente pego um peixe adequado para a mesa, mas devolvo o resto para a grande luta outro dia. Quando pesco em Portugal, devolvo todos os peixes que pesquei, para que outros possam praticar o desporto. Eu amo o vídeo, e é ótimo ver peixes tão incríveis, mas também me sinto um pouco triste porque tudo foi tirado e nada foi colocado de volta no outro dia.
Olá Frags69, obrigado pelo comentário. Mas tens de ver mais vídeos, o que mais aqui tem é malta a soltar peixes pequenos. Inclusive se fores ver mais vídeos meus, vais ver que eu solto uma serie de robalos e se fores ver os meus vídeos na pesca ao Achigã (Largemouth Bass), vais ver que os solto a todos e até bem grandes. No entanto tens de ter em conta que aqui em Portugal, o ordenado mínimo é 3x mais baixo que o ordenado mínimo no Reino Unido, estamos a falar de 600€ para 1800€, sendo que o ordenado médio anda pelos 800€, apenas 200€ a mais do que o ordenado mínimo. Isto são literalmente 3 meses de salario para muito boa gente aqui em Portugal. E somos dos países mais caros e com maior carga de impostos na UE O facto de veres tanta gente a levar o peixe para casa, tem muito a ver com isso. E 99% dessas pessoas, vão comer o peixe que apanharam. Alem de que estão a levar peixe que tem a medida mínima legal. Mas olha que mesmo que todos os pescadores lúdicos de cana, levassem para casa 1 ou 2 peixes, não iriam fazer os estragos que os barcos de pesca de arrasto fazem numa única só passagem. Tendo em conta que muitas vezes, deitam borda fora todo o que apanharam por não ser a espécie alvo. E vai tudo morto borda fora. Abraço.

É verdade que a situação salarial em Portugal é uma piada, e vi em primeira mão como é ter vivido e trabalhado no Algarve, no entanto, já vi muitos vídeos de Portugal mostrando capturas que enchiam dois congeladores de peixe . Na minha opinião, é melhor levar um pouco quando necessário do que encher o freezer. Também sei que a Corvina é uma espécie invasora, mas certamente esse não é um bom motivo para tentar removê-la. Se eles já estiverem nas águas e se reproduzindo, apenas a pesca excessiva provavelmente os erradicará. Aqui no Reino Unido, vemos muitas espécies que migraram para nossas águas. O atum de barbatana azul é agora um espetáculo anual em torno das costas do sudoeste, mas em vez de tentar matá-los todos, o Reino Unido está permitindo apenas a pesca esportiva, capturando-os apenas para pesquisa para marcação e liberação. Não sugiro que os Corvina devam ser tratados da mesma forma, mas sim que gostemos do facto de estarem aqui e do prazer de pesca que trazem - o teu choro aos 5 minutos provam isso! :) Sobre a pesca comercial, podemos ambos concordar. Me dá nojo ver como o fundo do mar é raspado e tudo é levado para ser guardado ou devolvido ao mar morto !! Você pode imaginar o horror das populações se essa prática acontecesse em terra com redes pegando todas as espécies em uma enorme rede e jogando os corpos indesejados da 'captura' para um lado - a prática seria imediatamente banida !! Por último, como pescadores, somos os guardiães do nosso esporte. Construímos uma enorme indústria em torno da empolgação e do prazer que ela nos proporciona. Os Estados Unidos demonstraram, com as populações de Striped Bass, que os pescadores recreativos colocam muito mais na economia do que a pesca comercial. Levando apenas o que precisamos comer, e praticando o bom manejo dos recursos permitiremos às gerações que nos seguem o mesmo esporte que gostamos. Isso tem que ser bom para todos, certo? Obrigado por seus vídeos. Estou gostando muito deles. Nunca pesquei em um caiaque, mas parece uma maneira legal de pescar. Eu estarei pescando neste fim de semana na costa azul, então estarei pensando sobre suas capturas e esperando por um pouco de ação eu mesmo. Linhas estreitas.
@@frags69 Portugal não está isento de pessoas parvas que não respeitam a pesca nem as outras pessoas. Penso que isso é um problema universal. E Portugal é um país envelhecido onde muitos dos pescadores são da velha guarda. Regra geral a malta mais nova pesca com mais responsabilidade. Não podemos é comparar Portugal ao Reino Unido, muito menos aos EUA. Em muitos aspetos, Portugal ainda está preso no passado. Não existe absolutamente nenhum investimento por parte do governo na pesca desportiva. Tudo o que é feito por cá, é por vontade dos próprios pescadores, toda a promoção e divulgação que existe é feita e patrocinada pelos próprios pescadores. A única coisa que o governo faz é colocar mais impostos e taxas atras de taxas em tudo o que diz respeito a pesca desportiva. Para teres uma ideia, para se poder pescar de kayak hoje em dia em Portugal, só em despesas legais, antes mesmo de colocar o Kayak na água, tens cerca de 600€ em despesas. 300€ na carta de marinheiro, +- 180€ para registar o kayak, 50€ na licença anual (apenas para pescar em agua salobra) agua doce são mais 20€. Depois temos um problema sério de falta de fiscalização. Onde podemos estar a ver uma ilegalidade, comunicamos a policia marítima e eles simplesmente não têm meios para fazer o que quer que seja. É normal estarmos a pescar e vermos barcos a largar redes e outras artes de pesca ilegais mesmo é nossa frente. Pessoas que apenas ligam ao dinheiro e não querem saber de mais nada. Em relação á corvina ser uma espécie invasora, a corvina em questão no vídeo não é invasora. A corvina legitima é uma corvina que sempre nadou pelas nossas águas e é sazonal. A corvina Americana é que é uma espécie invasora e que já está a dominar as nossas águas, permanecendo o ano inteiro. Abraço.

A pesca da 'velha escola' é um problema universal, e certamente há pessoas em todos os lugares que acham que o recurso é abundante e interminável. Mesmo aqui no Reino Unido, vemos muita pesca ilegal e sobrepesca comercial em áreas protegidas - e da mesma forma, muitas vezes há pouco que pode ser feito, então entendo sua opinião de frustração. Estou chocado com o custo do uso do caiaque. Isso se aplica a todos os caiaques, mesmo os infláveis que vemos pessoas pescando durante as férias? ou apenas os rígidos caiaques de 'pesca'? Mas não vamos deixar que isso prejudique uma grande viagem de pesca. Obrigado por me informar sobre a diferença nas espécies - isso é bom para aprender. Estou ansioso pelo fim de semana agora. Minhas iscas estão classificadas na caixa de iscas e prontas para uso, e o pai natal me trouxe algumas novas iscas de superfície para experimentar! Obrigado novamente por sua informação. HI, thanks for your comment. I have actually watched a ton of his videos that you have suggested. But, don't forget that this is all done on top of a Kayak while pedaling. And the way I do it I dont stab the fish's head true the bone. There Is a soft spot after the bones in the head and the knife enters there. But thanks for the video, I really liked it. :D
