  I remember seeing El Capitan at night one year we were camping across the valley, and you could see all these lights way up on the wall belonging to climbers sleeping on their Port-a-Ledges. I could never sleep on some tiny nylon and aluminum frame secured to the rock face with just some simple webbing. I have that falling nightmare often enough when I'm safely in my bed at home, lol.

  We’ve stayed here before. It’s ok, kinda over priced for what it is, and don’t go here on Easter, it’s packed!!! You get a good amount of riff raff because it’s so close to Fresno etc. In the summer it’s hot.

  I think they tried to make it reservable after the rehab project but it didn’t work out so it’s first come first serve unless you reserve a group site.

  I believe it started from the propane/electric refrigerator. I arrived at the campsite, leveled and put the slides out and kicked back with my little dogs to relax with a movie before setting up camp. One of my neighboring campers came to my door and said you have to get out, your rv is on fire. I turned off the propane and used a fire extinguisher but it didn’t do much. A neighbor took my little dogs into their tent. It was a terrible time. Fortunately my sisters were camped nearby so I ended up camping with them. San Simeon is one of my favorite places to camp.

  The better view is actually about 250’ below this but when I pulled in there I could hear the forest service and or cal trans running saws and chippers down on the kings canyon byway.

  Several years ago and I didn’t get it direct from store it was on market place but new in box. Roughly $100 under retail at the time. Really shows inflation because I was able to get a champion 3100 with remote start in the $600 range. This little unit replaced that one when it was stolen.
