Honestly, terrible idea.. there aren't infinite players, not alot of ppl are gonna come back to a fresh start every 2 yrs, and having so many separate era versions will only split the playerbase more, no way around that.

This obsession and claim that blizzard “doesn’t ban bots and rmt” just isn’t true. Compared to original vanilla, blizzard bans WAY more bots/rmt than they ever have. This is a statistical truth and no amount of anecdotal whining can disprove it. I feel like you clowns have forgotten about original wow where we had org and sw completely COVERED in corpses that spelled out the URL of RMT sites. You cannot ever totally eliminate rmt and instead of whining and making it your sole deciding factor when playing wow, it’s time to move on and stop acting like children. RMT and even gdkps have never affected me even once, nor have they affected any good player. There’s a reason you never hear guys like ahlaundoh complaining about rmt but instead it’s a complaint dominated by people like asmongold or Defcamp/melderon - green parsing clowns who don’t even play classic wow and haven’t in years. As usual, this guy said he “wasn’t planning on coming back to wow” and now a month later he’s making videos about classic wow. Yall are addicted. Probably the sole thing he said that is true is that the overwhelming majority of players absolutely do NOT just want another fresh vanilla. That’s what people like alexensual and kargoz want. People who openly have said they “don’t find vanilla fun past BWL”. They like leveling, getting pre bis, doing mc once, then asking for a new fresh. If that’s what you do on vanilla, you don’t actually like vanilla. Becsuse the best raiding experiences come POST bwl.

Needs more permanence. Fresh will bring people for a few months (like SOD), but without permanence I don't think critical mass sticks around for 2.5 years.

@@DefcampMelderonTV fair enough, but i feel like you should give sod a shot. i personally quit it, but seeing all the little differences in the world as a 20 year vet of the game and new quests (which you spent a lot of time talking about) and discovering the runes are pretty much very detailed questlines similar to class quests in classic era. Lots of them are super fun/interesting. But i haven't played past p1 lol so i only know the 1-25 stuff.

I think the new content could be added as expansions, but you would need to take away flying. Imagine new contest zones to pvp in? Some of the best wow play ive ever had is fighting over zones. Something to change raids so its not just following deadly boss mods to avoid the gunk on the ground, Maybe some dungeons/raids that are progressive in different ways? Something that requires horde and alliance to work together?

I would be interested to hear your opinions about Ashes of creation, we will get a release date for the Alpha 2 at the end of the month! Have you looked at their node system/world changing based on what players do? What would ideal moderation in an mmorpg look like? Do we know what kinda tools are available to GMs for this? Does Unreal engine 5 add any functions? If you would change crafting to make it more interesting in classic + what would you do? I think archaeology could have alot of depth for lore and interesting things if they bring it to classic with the right balance. Jewelcrafting could be valid too! Some better cooking recipes etc.

At this point we have done vanilla 2 times. I know the purists like vanilla but we need to spice things up. Find a middle ground that puts the classes balanced within 10% of each other and focuses on lvling and new content. Thanks

Firstly, I'd like to say I'm so pleased to see you making content again and I hope Defcamp is doing well! As an original content suggestion/request, I'd love to hear more about your gaming journey over the years not just WoW related. I remember during an episode of GMA, you mentioned Diablo and how you felt WoW's talent trees took much of their inspiration from it. I've always found that an interesting point and it got me thinking about what games you grew up enjoying. I'm not sure if that would do numbers but I enjoy hearing the gaming stories of others! Wishing you all the best.

I think private servers are going to be the main source of classic wow play going forward. Turtle wow 2.0 has me about as excited as I was for the classic wow 2019. I tune in for news on it weekly. I tried sod for a month and it just didn’t do it for me. I’m a dad gamer so I don’t have time to raid, and even doing a dungeon can be rough sometimes, so the open world is everything. Turtle wow 2.0 is something I can play at my leisure and it’s new and it will be popping off. I heard through the grapevine even asmondgold is excited about it, which means he will even be playing in his spare time. Blizzard just can’t get that level of hype in its current shape.

TWoW is already good, Epoch looks good too imo. Ideally twow's crazy 2.0 client would end up on a server with less insane admins but it might be the most blizzlike thing about them.

I like the ideas & concepts but Blizzard has shown no interest in actually stopping the bots or RMT in a real way. We all know they can not monetize classic versions like they can the retail/cata versions (wow token/microtransactions). That being said, it is all wishful thinking and dead on arrival imo.

It’s a good thing they don’t listen to clowns like you then, because no one wants what you want. Go play on a private server if you want that. Factiok balance is also not at all important and it’s a detriment to the game, which is why on vanilla, tbc, wotlk, and now sod, players have all flocked to large one sided servers. No one wants balanced servers. It’s something clowns who don’t even play the game think sounds good. Those who play the game see how bad “balanced” servers are. Look at sod before the server transfers. Getting a DMF buff took an hour due to loser “world PvP” campers”

No resets. We need a server that's never going away and that has new updates post 60. Zones, raids, dungeons, items, sets, class combos etc. That's where the classic+ content comes in. We want a home that will never go away and we want characters to stay alive as long as we ourselves do.

Love these ideas. Changes are not necessarily bad, but the changes need to really be in line with the soul of vanilla. I think adding more open world dungeons with elite mobs would be a ton of fun. There are plenty of unfinished zones that could be populated with new outdoor dungeons with quest lines and everything. THAT kind of stuff sounds exciting. Not just throwing retail spells into the game. We dont need wicked OP gear or spells added, just more substance to the world that blends into vanilla rather than just stuff ontop of vanilla. I hope they consider the ideas you've presented here.

I love these types of videos, I previously mained rogue, but I do not like sneaking, I like going in there and bursting things. I fell in love with the mage and shaman, especially shaman right now in sod. It is the most horde/tribal class to me and the combination of orc/shaman just feels so right somehow calling the elements while still using weapons

Agree with Melderon and J1mmy here. Commenting specifically on both Halo 5 and Infinite; they are considered garbage jokes... They were flashes in the pan with little to no staying power. Those games play into the nostalgia argument. Lots of people rush in and play them early but it falls off because the quality isn't there. Hell I'd argue that most Modern WoW expacs rely on nostalgia to get people hyped up to play them more than Classic does. Melderon, your nostalgia vs quality analogy with getting people to knock on the door of a party vs staying there is very apt. edit: also Asmon latching onto Brighter Shores and using that as potential proof of his nostalgia argument is just so wrong. Brighter Shores is going to succeed or fail on its own merits. One of the things the creators are aiming for is to minimize grindy gameplay which is something that OSRS really leans into at the behest of their players. I dunno, I think he's completely barking up the wrong tree even talking about Brighter Shores

I think Season of Discovery needs to just progress into TBC because there is no way I’m going to restart from fresh again. It would be a way to continue our characters and give people TBC again. The problem I’m starting to see is the further we progress into SoD, the barrier to entry for new players greatly increases.

Theres only one game I can think of with a cheating issue that has it under control-ish. That is Valorant because the anti-cheat it has is incredibly invasive. One "AI dev" is not going to solve the issue. There is a market there and if theres a market people will always find a way around it.

Blizzard are giving us too much abilities wise which make us do 2500dps in classic aoe pulls, where in original classic where ppl did max 500dps average and no content, other than re use other same content and tweek it SMALL amount. GDKP Should never be in any game cuz ppl buy more gold from gold sellers.

@@DefcampMelderonTV thats just one example i can think of immidiately, my time during horde in classic over the years was always horde way better then alliance pretty all the time due to how gross windfury is and shamans just being better then paladins in general. but for sake of argument... ur saying horde should be good at everything where alliance only get pve, which horde outclass alliance in pvp because shaman and racials. without SOD, paladins are nearly worthless in pvp

@@DefcampMelderonTV thats not true at all. horde constantly create premades and are virtually indestructable and never lose their world buffs, its tiring to have to deal with it as a pug alliance how oppressive these horde premades always are, your numbers are wrong, its been like this forever even since 2004 horde simply always win because they have the better racials, and better class to always keep alliance under their heel.

i think they definitely went a bit overboard with SOD. i hope if they do make a classic plus they don't stray to far from classic. like you said Melderon most of community wanted minor changes that classic was lacking. for example make ret and enhancement shamans a thing, make boomkins a thing and druids not have to farm crowd pummelers. also have shamans and paladins be viable tanks. like they dont have to be crazy strong or be able to compete with Warriors for dps or anything but just make it so they are not meme specs. I also think GDKP's are a good thing to have. i see GDKP's as more of a Pugging thing, guilds will always do MS>OS. people who couldn't co ordinate with a guild had the options to run PUGS who do GDKP and if they don't have gold to get what they want they can at least experience the raid and also get some gold out of it for next time. im a person who likes to play one character for my MMO's, GDKP's gave me a reason to still do things like molten to get some gold even though i didn't need any loot from it. it kept a lot of players invested when it came to endgame for sure especially for people who had alts and wanted to pug for some gear or gold. i also think your idea about the hall of fame/multiverse thing is a very good idea. they would be able to milk classic for so many years and the players would be happy. i played wow for the first time when classic came out i have cleared all raids and dungeons and i would still be down to run a fresh server of classic+ with some small changes to all the meme specs.

Thanks for the video. I signed the petition. Era shouldn't be changed, Era should have stayed on its own client where it was left alone. It's also frustrating to see the people who make fun of others who dislike Era being changed, people can't mentally grasp the big picture. When they act like it's just people being mad about the individual changes and not the sum of the parts. It's like being mocked by a 5 year old as an adult. I'm done for now and will look into pservers if the Vanilla bug hits again, unless more care gets put into Era again, I haven't been happy with this devs team direction for a very long time and there's no point in playing game if it's more frustrating than fun.

5:42 I wanted a chromoboon that when active absorbs all new wbuffs so that I don't need to use another one if I don't get all in one go. TBH, changes like these are needed, because the gaming community has changed to much for this to not exist. The same goes for dispelling wbuffs. Imagine how many reports they had to deal with players just standing on a roof somewhere for 16h dispelling wbuffs...never happened back in the days.

TWoW is already good, Epoch looks good too imo. Ideally twow's crazy 2.0 client would end up on a server with less insane admins but it might be the most blizzlike thing about them.

I like the ideas & concepts but Blizzard has shown no interest in actually stopping the bots or RMT in a real way. We all know they can not monetize classic versions like they can the retail/cata versions (wow token/microtransactions). That being said, it is all wishful thinking and dead on arrival imo.
I don't like retail, I don't like cata, I don't like SOD. I want classic vanilla/tbc. refresh every few years is great, keeping the economy newb friendly is important(limiting inflation from bots/buying/gdkp). keeping faction balance is important

Factiok balance is also not at all important and it’s a detriment to the game, which is why on vanilla, tbc, wotlk, and now sod, players have all flocked to large one sided servers. No one wants balanced servers. It’s something clowns who don’t even play the game think sounds good. Those who play the game see how bad “balanced” servers are. Look at sod before the server transfers. Getting a DMF buff took an hour due to loser “world PvP” campers”
No resets. We need a server that's never going away and that has new updates post 60. Zones, raids, dungeons, items, sets, class combos etc. That's where the classic+ content comes in. We want a home that will never go away and we want characters to stay alive as long as we ourselves do.

Love these ideas. Changes are not necessarily bad, but the changes need to really be in line with the soul of vanilla. I think adding more open world dungeons with elite mobs would be a ton of fun. There are plenty of unfinished zones that could be populated with new outdoor dungeons with quest lines and everything. THAT kind of stuff sounds exciting. Not just throwing retail spells into the game. We dont need wicked OP gear or spells added, just more substance to the world that blends into vanilla rather than just stuff ontop of vanilla. I hope they consider the ideas you've presented here.
In what world is sod gear or spells OP? Vast majority of the new spells are also from wotlk and tbc, not retail. Not even close.

At this point I don't trust modern Blizzard to be able to improve Vanilla in ANY meaningful way without screwing everything up. And for a good reason. Unless... they hire some true passionate OG, like yourself, as the project lead.

I love these types of videos, I previously mained rogue, but I do not like sneaking, I like going in there and bursting things. I fell in love with the mage and shaman, especially shaman right now in sod. It is the most horde/tribal class to me and the combination of orc/shaman just feels so right somehow calling the elements while still using weapons

Agree with Melderon and J1mmy here. Commenting specifically on both Halo 5 and Infinite; they are considered garbage jokes... They were flashes in the pan with little to no staying power. Those games play into the nostalgia argument. Lots of people rush in and play them early but it falls off because the quality isn't there. Hell I'd argue that most Modern WoW expacs rely on nostalgia to get people hyped up to play them more than Classic does. Melderon, your nostalgia vs quality analogy with getting people to knock on the door of a party vs staying there is very apt. edit: also Asmon latching onto Brighter Shores and using that as potential proof of his nostalgia argument is just so wrong. Brighter Shores is going to succeed or fail on its own merits. One of the things the creators are aiming for is to minimize grindy gameplay which is something that OSRS really leans into at the behest of their players. I dunno, I think he's completely barking up the wrong tree even talking about Brighter Shores

I think Season of Discovery needs to just progress into TBC because there is no way I’m going to restart from fresh again. It would be a way to continue our characters and give people TBC again. The problem I’m starting to see is the further we progress into SoD, the barrier to entry for new players greatly increases.

Theres only one game I can think of with a cheating issue that has it under control-ish. That is Valorant because the anti-cheat it has is incredibly invasive. One "AI dev" is not going to solve the issue. There is a market there and if theres a market people will always find a way around it.

Blizzard are giving us too much abilities wise which make us do 2500dps in classic aoe pulls, where in original classic where ppl did max 500dps average and no content, other than re use other same content and tweek it SMALL amount. GDKP Should never be in any game cuz ppl buy more gold from gold sellers.
bad takes all around. horde is literally easy mode. take viscidus from aq40 for example... shamans just drop their posion cleanse totems and the fight is now a joke.
1 fight isn't enough of an argument, just look at the logs from classic, alliance dominated, especially at high end
@@DefcampMelderonTV thats just one example i can think of immidiately, my time during horde in classic over the years was always horde way better then alliance pretty all the time due to how gross windfury is and shamans just being better then paladins in general. but for sake of argument... ur saying horde should be good at everything where alliance only get pve, which horde outclass alliance in pvp because shaman and racials. without SOD, paladins are nearly worthless in pvp

@@DefcampMelderonTV thats not true at all. horde constantly create premades and are virtually indestructable and never lose their world buffs, its tiring to have to deal with it as a pug alliance how oppressive these horde premades always are, your numbers are wrong, its been like this forever even since 2004 horde simply always win because they have the better racials, and better class to always keep alliance under their heel.

i think they definitely went a bit overboard with SOD. i hope if they do make a classic plus they don't stray to far from classic. like you said Melderon most of community wanted minor changes that classic was lacking. for example make ret and enhancement shamans a thing, make boomkins a thing and druids not have to farm crowd pummelers. also have shamans and paladins be viable tanks. like they dont have to be crazy strong or be able to compete with Warriors for dps or anything but just make it so they are not meme specs. I also think GDKP's are a good thing to have. i see GDKP's as more of a Pugging thing, guilds will always do MS>OS. people who couldn't co ordinate with a guild had the options to run PUGS who do GDKP and if they don't have gold to get what they want they can at least experience the raid and also get some gold out of it for next time. im a person who likes to play one character for my MMO's, GDKP's gave me a reason to still do things like molten to get some gold even though i didn't need any loot from it. it kept a lot of players invested when it came to endgame for sure especially for people who had alts and wanted to pug for some gear or gold. i also think your idea about the hall of fame/multiverse thing is a very good idea. they would be able to milk classic for so many years and the players would be happy. i played wow for the first time when classic came out i have cleared all raids and dungeons and i would still be down to run a fresh server of classic+ with some small changes to all the meme specs.

Thanks for the video. I signed the petition. Era shouldn't be changed, Era should have stayed on its own client where it was left alone. It's also frustrating to see the people who make fun of others who dislike Era being changed, people can't mentally grasp the big picture. When they act like it's just people being mad about the individual changes and not the sum of the parts. It's like being mocked by a 5 year old as an adult. I'm done for now and will look into pservers if the Vanilla bug hits again, unless more care gets put into Era again, I haven't been happy with this devs team direction for a very long time and there's no point in playing game if it's more frustrating than fun.

5:42 I wanted a chromoboon that when active absorbs all new wbuffs so that I don't need to use another one if I don't get all in one go. TBH, changes like these are needed, because the gaming community has changed to much for this to not exist. The same goes for dispelling wbuffs. Imagine how many reports they had to deal with players just standing on a roof somewhere for 16h dispelling wbuffs...never happened back in the days.
