    A *Landing Signal Officer* (LSO) gives the pilot corrective instructions using what is essentially a telephone handset-style radio. Each LSO is a pilot, and each squadron in the airwing has at least one fully qualified LSO. Two airwing LSOs (called CAG LSOs) supervise the squadron LSOs

    So if they lose the hook on their tail they can't land?

  • @vishwaskarmarkar9932
    @vishwaskarmarkar9932Ай бұрын

    Most everything is opposite to conventional landing. You drop the a/c from a height to ensure hook engages a wire. But then you open power, just in case the cable snaps. Then you are called a BOLTER and have to go around.

    @Monarch683Ай бұрын

    There's an emergency barricade that can be set up in the case of a tailhook failure. Very unlikely that the tailhook is somehow lost in flight though. The barricade is generally used for damaged aircraft that may have trouble catching the wires when landing.

    I can tell you from experience you are the MOST FOCUSED and you’ve Never Concentrated on Anything so Hard in your Life. The Key is to stay Calm and not Loose your Nerve. Do a KZread search using the following: (Crash on the USS LEXINGTON AVT-16 Oct-1989) where he did that not so much

    Yep, that’s normal for a case I landing, they do a pretty tiny circuit around the carrier and only stay in the groove (the final) for around 12 seconds I think

    How fast is the jet going when it lands on the carrier deck?

  • @user-wi2bf5fp9f
    @user-wi2bf5fp9f5 ай бұрын

    "On speed" is the correct answer, but generally between 110 and 140knots. The reason they use "On speed" is because there are many factors, wind speed, carrier speed, weight, and probably more.

    They say the three greatest feelings one can have is landing in bad weather, an orgasm, and a good bowel movement. And they say a nighttime, bad weather landing on an aircraft carrier is one of the rare opportunities to get all three at the same time.

    I have used a 30/30/30 approach for a long time in my consulting service. 30 days ago, this was the case; today, this is the case, and in 30 more days, this will be the case. For most of my consulting career, I reported to the client CEO. This approach meant there were never any surprises, and I would know when it was time to leave. I encourage CEOs to do post-mortems on all capital projects. The focus is on whether the benefits used to promote the investment were realized and, if not why.

    Some middle management are resistant technophobes hanging onto the upper rungs of the org chart for dear life. They could better serve by being honest about their fears which is stopping the company from moving forward.

    Thanks Charlene and your clear explanation. This book changed my approach and probably my career too which thankfully has been a successful move to marketing, team building and business development. Even now my approach is to see people behind the policies, papers and deals. To summarise for benefit of others: Dale Carnegie's 30 Principles To Win Friends & Influence People 1. Don't Criticize, Condemn or Complain 2. Give Honest, Sincere, Appreciation 3. Arouse In The Other Person An Eager Want 4. Become Genuinely Interested In Other People 5. Smile 6. Remember That A Person's Name Is To That Person The Sweetest And Most Important Sound In Any Language 7. Be A Good Listener. Encourage Others To Talk About Themselves 8. Talk In Terms Of The Other Person's Interests 9. Make The Other Person Feel Important - And Do It Sincerely 10. The Only Way To Get The Best Of An Argument Is To Avoid It 11. Show Respect For The Other Person's Opinion. Never Say, "You're Wrong." 12. If You Are Wrong Admit It Quickly And Emphatically 13. Begin In A Friendly Manner 14. Get The Other Person Saying "Yes, Yes" 15. Let The Other Person Do A Great Deal Of The Talking 16. Let The Other Person Feel That The Idea Is His Or Hers 17. Try Honestly To See Things From The Other Person's Point Of View 18. Be Sympathetic With The Other Person's Ideas And Desires 19. Appeal To The Nobler Motives 20. Dramatize Your Ideas 21. Throw Down A Challenge 22. Begin With Praise And Honest Appreciation 23. Call Attention To People's Mistakes Indirectly 24. Talk About Your Own Mistakes Before Criticizing The Other Person 25. Ask Questions Instead Of Giving Direct Orders 26. Let The Other Person Save Face 27. Praise The Slightest Improvement And Praise Every Improvement. Be "Hearty In Your Approbation And Lavish In Your Praise". 28. Give The Other Person A Fine Reputation To Live Up To 29. Use Encouragement. Make The Fault Seem Easy To Correct 30. Make The Other Person Happy About Doing The Thing You Suggest Thanks Charlene.
