Definitely a clearer more classical sound with better room details in the VWinds. In the context of the "jazz noodle" I think I prefer the SWAM. They're both good, I think, just with different strengths. I might personally go for the VWinds Flutes, though. Still a bit of work to go before getting believable enough that it would fool me, but it's staggeringly close.

I put this kind of comparison video's up as opinionless as I can, but I'll totally agree with you. Since I play more pop/jazz/hybrid than classical music, I have a slight preference for SWAM. But if I wanted more realism, I probably would use VWinds or Aaron Venture's Infinite Woodwinds, which didn't participate in this comparison.

100% wet reverb signal from swam would make it more realistic comparison
@Peethoven3 ай бұрын
Perhaps but this was a 'Non scientific comparison' I am not that interested in making them exactly similar. I see these as different Clarinets with different ways of playing. You have to find the sweet spots of these instruments, sweet spot in sound and learn a way of playing that brings out these sweet spots. And you have to get acquainted with the configuration inside these instruments. Experimentation with different settings in the DAW, panning, reverb can definitely also help with that. All depends also a lot on style. For Klezmer and Jazz I prefer SWAM. For classical and more restrained music I prefer Acoustic Samples. When I listen back to the video after 3 months I prefer SWAM for this Gerschwin fragment (Jazz/Klezmer mixture). Even without the 100% wetness of the reverb signal! :-)
